"Miss your latte." Olive made it back just in time as Lexi is about to enter her car.
"You took your time." Lexi coldly stated accepting the latte and handing it to her bodyguard.
"I'm sorry, there is a long queue."
She didn't bother answering and just nodded. This action of hers might be considered rude by others but it is just how she acts in front of her enemy.
Once inside the car, she finally lowered the mask that she has been holding up since she arrived. Pulling her phone she called someone.
"They're not under my uncle nor were they sent by any of my enemies from the entertainment industry." She told the man on the other line.
"That's good, but you sound more alarmed, what's wrong?"
"I got a feeling that they aren't ordinary so I took a risk by mentioning the knight council due to the current situation. I didn't expect to actually earn a reaction from them, though it was a slight one and they deny it after I've confronted them. If my suspicion isn't wrong they can be part of the High Monarch and could have been sent by the knight council. The question now is why now and why me?"
The man on the other side thinks about it for a while before answering. "I've already sent someone to run a background check on them, we should be able to have the result one of these days, in the meantime, I highly advise that you treat them neutrally. We don't want to create any unnecessary conflict with another clan within the High Monarch and if they are indeed sent by the knight council I need to report this to the clan master. Lay low and don't do anything that might provoke them or make them suspicious of you."
After the phone call, Lexi released a deep sigh, relaxing her muscles and nerves. Being an actress and an S class elite can surely be tiring at some point. Rumours have her as someone who grows up with a golden spoon but no one knows from which wealthy family she is from, besides her real name isn't made known to the public thus her true background identity isn't known, it also helps that she wasn't born and raised in this country.
She is better known with her stage name Lexi and sometimes referred to as the Ice Queen, the nickname that the media often call her, something that she just let it carry on, besides that's the only thing that they could actually use to degrade her as her background is something that they can't touch not even her private life.
Acting is her one true passion thus she took the risk of entering the entertainment world despite her status. Though she hated how dirty the entertainment has become there are still those that are worth respecting for their fame due to their hard work and not because of the dirty deeds they've done and used to earn that fame. That being said she tries to stay clear from anything that might cause her trouble and issues. Staying scandal-free and upright with her works, which could be handy at times.
Truth to be told, accepting this drama took a lot of persuasion from her agency due to the original director that was tasked with the job. She has no problem with the writer and the script itself is in fact brilliant, one of the best she read so far from the stuck of scrip that's being sent to her but she have a problem with the director being a man whore and a bully especially to new female artists.
Director Fu is well known in the industry for harassing new actresses especially those without a strong backing and is especially infamous for his dirty tactics. The only reason why he is still around the industry is because despite his image he actually performs well in his job and has directed a lot of award winning dramas and movies. Add to that the fact that he is an award-winning director both locally and internationally.
It's a good thing that the writer only wanted her to take the main lead as she fits the character perfectly thus when she gave her condition and suggested another director for the drama, who might not be as known as Director Fu but just as capable if not better than the latter, the writer and producer immediately agreed to it, so together they persuade the investors into firing Director Fu which didn't sit well with him, for this drama is actually one of the most anticipated drama of the year with it being a star-studded and heavily invested. With the latter being fired this now earns her another enemy in the industry to be wary.
A few days after this incident she was informed by her agency with the sudden leave of her PA and make-up artist immediately giving her red flags, with a lot of enemies wanting to sabotage her with every chance they got and with her family issues right now in relation with her uncle she immediately asks someone to do a background check with the two substitutes that they have presented but the initial investigation leads them to nowhere which just increases her suspicion that is why as much as she doesn't want to involve her family background one must never be too sure.
Her uncle already has Olive, her manager, under his palms, the only reason why she still keeps her around despite knowing the truth about her is because as the saying goes keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Wanting to relax and having no other schedule for today she decided to pay a quick visit at the Hub an exclusive hang out place for the countries S class elites. The guard immediately recognized her and let her inside the place.
Though it's almost lunchtime there are only a few individuals around, in fact, she could count with her finger those who are present and all she is familiar with but not quite close except for the two young men sitting at one of the tables.
"Lexi, didn't expect you to be here today? No schedule?" One of the men called her attention and signalled her to join them.
"None, my shooting doesn't start until next week." She answered upon sitting at their table.
"Oh right congratulations on having a new drama, I've heard this one is quite big." The man she is talking with right now is Keith Harris a good friend of hers.
She then looks at the other man who only gave her a nod upon her arrival.
"Really, vodka at this time of the day?"
The man only shrugged and asked for the bartender for another glass. He is Vinn Leux Ellison, their clan master's second son and somewhat her friend, it's complicated as he is not really the friendly type the only reason she somewhat even became acquainted with him is due to Keith who happens to be his cousin as well.
"So tell me how did you drag his butt off his office?" She asked Keith after ordering her usual meal.
Keith only winked at her which means he either lured the latter with something or did something else that caused him to drink vodka for lunch.
"Kathe is still not around?" She asked, not seeing her other friend who is also Keith's twin sister.
"Nope, I'm actually hoping she would never come back and stay in that city forever." Keith didn't hide his dislike of his sister.
Lexi throws a table knife at him which he easily dodged.
"Missed..."
"Stop being an ass... oh and by the way, I think the knight council is finally at us." She informed the two which totally got their attention.
"How could you say so?" Vinn finally spoke.
She then told them about her meeting with Jazz and Jin better known to her as Ivy and Anne.
"You sure?" Keith has to make sure because it's not simple to accuse the Knight Council of monitoring them.
"That is why I've contacted Ross, he told me he already sends someone to investigate them. I believe he is going to mention this to your father as well." She eyed Vinn who is in deep thought.
Ross on the other hand is their clan's best investigator and one of their clan master's trusted men.
"Why do you think the knight council is after us?" Keith asks his cousin.
"Hard to know, we all know that there is a mole in the High Monarch. Though father has yet to find any clue as to who and which clan the mole might belong to, it's also possible that it is one of the clan masters. This could be one of their plans but who knows." Vinn is in deep thought especially as his elder brother informs him of an unknown presence of some S class elite on their territory.
