Chapter 22 - Did not concern her

Knowing that his enterprise will suffer a great blow if the media finds out the truth by chance, Oh Seungho reluctantly took Shin Jaehee as his mistress. As a result, Miyeon was given the title of illegitimate child.

This news was not well-received by many people.

Despite the title of mistress, her mother was treated worse than maids by Oh Minyoung, Seungho's legitimate wife, and she took every chance to humiliate her infront of public. Powerless, her mother could only endure all of this for Miyeon's sake.

The entire time, her mother was under the delusion that Miyeon would be miserable without a complete family. Sometimes, Miyeon wondered what caused her mother to be this foolish. Nevertheless, being aware that she was prime reason for all of the sufferings, Miyeon could not be angry at her in the end of the day.

Growing up, Miyeon too was bullied by the maids in her house, and Bohyun, who learnt from her mother, tried her best of make Miyeon's life as painful as possible..

Miyeon craved to take revenge on the entire family. However, she was simply too weak. The only thing she could do was pray for karma to befall upon them.

"I want to look at that Bohyun's arrogant face after the news tomorrow," Haera spoke out with a big smile breaking out onto her face.

The two of them were currently inside Miyeon's living room, and both of them were seated beside each other on the couch.

"Just pray that body stays intact," Miyeon responded— her countenance being dull.

"It's not like you to do something impulsive, and I must applaud you for this." Haera clapped couple of times.

She scoffed and said, "You are right; it's not like me to do impulsive things. But recently, I have been doing all sorts of impulsive things? Do you think I am possessed."

Bringing her hand closer to her forehead, Haera flicked on her forehead and spoke out, "You were impulsive and curious in the first place. It's just that the incidence caused you to become a little more careful. Anyway, where are you going?"

"I don't know. The only thing he said is somewhere fun, and whatever is fun for him is not for fun for me," Miyeon stated.

Her bottom lip protruded forward, causing a pout to form upon her face while she drew circles on top of her knees.

"He gets along well with you, and I can see your friendship with him is going great after the years gap," Haera said, "You guys are a perfect match."

"Shut up with the nonsense! It was unexpected how he approached me; I thought he was going to ignore me," Miyeon expressed.

"That boy is attached to you. He looked like a lost puppy after you left."

"Teasing me is the only reason behind it," Miyeon responded, scrunching up her nose.

Although Miyeon stated that, she too treasured Minjae tremendously as he was one of those few that didn't turn his back on her times got rough. That boy, despite of his annoying character, was truly warm-hearted.

"You didn't tell me about your stay with Soobin and Taejoon. Are you attempting to hide something from?" Haera verbalised.

Bringing her face closer to Miyeon's, Haera stared at her intensely, and placing on a nonchalant expression, Miyeon raised her index finger to push Haera away from her.

"Taejoon that disrespectful brat was same as always. As for Min Soobin, well he just was cold," she spoke out.

There was a growing suspicion within her that Soobin had lost his memories. Even though she did not want to get ahead of herself, it was impossible for him to entirely forget about her.

About when she had called him 'jerk', he had no reaction to it, and at the end of the day, it did not make sense for him to entirely forget her. Miyeon could be sharp at times to begin with, and it was not difficult for her to notice such details.

That made her thoughts wander off to what could have happened to him that year to cause him to disappear without a trace. Countless reasons for what could've happened roamed through her mind, but she was not able to find one being the truth.

Nevertheless, although it would be nice to know the truth, her curiosity over it was not much. The past was something she had almost moved on from, and what happened to Soobin was none of her concern.
