Chapter 31 - Horrifying Volcanic Storm

These few days were tense, since the air pressure had dropped, and was filled steam. But, the calmness didn't stay long as steam over the course of a day accelerated once again in it's original direction. But the pressure dropped even further, to the point that the oceans were bubbling like water too hot in a pan. In fact, the concentration of steam overcame the percentage of oxygen.

But the ocean was still roaring as it flowed in the same direction like a river, even if it was boiling. With no way of seeing, I decided to leave and fly as high as I could into the sky. As I went further, the concentration of steam reduced drastically along with the air pressure. The temperature did not change much.

Eventually, the steam cut off at a certain point, allowing me to see blue skies for the first time in a long time. As far as I could see, clouds made purely of water vapor blanketed the skies, making it look like a sea of fluffy whiteness without no holes. But they are all moving in a single direction, making it look like a fluffy river.

Looking into the horizon, I saw a huge wall of whiteness moving towards this direction. It's height higher than the atmosphere itself. All the clouds were pressed against it's surface, before rolling up higher into the sky. Spots would occasionally open up, allowing to see behind the wall. Pure black clouds that spewed lightning like crazy was there. I could tell that it was filled with smoke, soot, and ash.

The length spread as far as the eye could see, and was less than a hundred miles away, but moving at very fast speeds. It will hit in less than a day I presume.

I dropped down before entering the formation once again, with the headmaster waiting.

"How is it up there?" he asked with anticipation.

Shaking my head, I replied, "A huge wall of blackness is approaching and will hit in less than a day. This will probably be worse than what happened previously."

The headmaster's face turned gloomy, thoughts seemed to race in his head, before cupping his hand and leaving.

As for me, I sat in the waters and calmly anticipated.

Hours later, I watched as the misty winds began to drastically slow down in just a few minutes. The winds entered a calm state for a few seconds before reversing direction. Speeding up, the winds reached highway speeds quickly before reaching hurricane speeds.

But this created a negative effect for the ocean. With winds moving against them, the waves became horrifyingly choppy as huge waves became as high as the elder mountains in the Sea Phantom clan. This made the waves large enough that they surpassed the walls and hit the barrier, continuously rising. Soon, half of the formation barrier was submerged by high waves.

Even the guards who had gotten used to the waves became frightened and retreated hastily. The place became worse than previously. One could faintly hear the groans of the formation, causing the headmaster to turn pale and run back into his palace, where he came out with countless monster cores.

The skies that had been normally dim as it would be in a storm began brightening once more . Happiness set in for city folks that had been suffering the harsh weather previously.

Air pressure drastically increased and reached normal in just a few minutes. The oceans stopped boiling and the remaining steam was pulled away by the fierce winds. For a brief moment, the entire ocean was cleared away of water vapor, allowing one to see normally.

What they saw would be ingrained in their minds forever as the most horrifying thing. Black walls of volcanic clouds and water quickly approached in that were even in contact with the ocean. Coincidentally, the sun was setting in the opposite direction of the storm, brightly illuminating the walls and the island for it's brief moments.

But this didn't last long, as a huge shadow moved over the ocean and island like a huge cloud. The place quickly descended into darkness, as with a brightness of a full moon. The winds quickly reached commercial jet speeds, sending mist as it approached the island. Hundreds of lightning bolts lit up the area.

Then, the black curtain wall cast by the dark heavens, engulfed the entire island like food. Ash and soot rained down at an angle so low that it was nearly going horizontal. Only lighting occasionally lit up the area. The oceans around quickly turned more dirtier than they already were from the mud.

"Shit! We can't hold on like this forever. I only have a limited supply of monster cores and crystals in my treasury," the headmaster said as he painfully looked at the monster cores turning to dust in front of his eyes.

But through his efforts, it seems as though the formation barrier has stabilized. Powerful individuals in the cities quickly calmed down the populations and unrest. With such darkness, people went out and took down any dead trees for source of lights. Even disciples from the clan had no choice but to help out in this matter.

Meanwhile, I silently looked at the dark island, which occasionally lit up by the lighting on the outside. I can feel the pressure and gloomy atmosphere. Because of my tribulation, I've turned normal people's lives into survival. Lot's of vassal kingdoms will probably fall even before the tsunami.

There's no way this will end anytime soon. With volcanoes that big, the everything will be covered in darkness with raining volcanic snow. This could go on for a year or more. Not to mention the rebound of the ocean after filling in the magma zone.

It seems as though we've entered a volcano era similar to a billion years ago.
