Chereads / Reincarnated into a Shingle Sea Urchin / Chapter 34 - The World is Dying

Chapter 34 - The World is Dying

Lemon Update:

Hey everybody, this is your author, Lemon Grenade! Unfortunately, I have to reduce future chapters to only 1 release a day for a quite a while. But this has good reasons, and while you may not like it now, you may certainly like it in the future when this good reason happens.

I had a dream last night that was so inspirational that I couldn't help but imagine that it'll a great book that everyone will love. In fact, the dream was very vivid and full of minor details, to the point that I woke up thinking it was still real and it's a prophecy of what the future will be like.

I can somewhat pull out a plot-line since the setting and summary is there. I've got the foundation, and now I just need to find the right materials and proportions to create a plot-line that'll really blow everyone away.

I'm sure this new new novel will be even way better than this one, as Shingle Sea Urchin has a shaky foundation and not the right proportions and materials. But I will finish this book to the end, even if I don't like it.

Once I've completed the plot-line and everything on Microsoft, I'll release it into Webnovel at a certain release a day that will be very stable compared to this book.

Out of all my novels I've created on Word, this may rank first regarding inspiration and it's chances of being a really good novel. I haven't had high hopes like this in a long time regarding any of my novels.

I'll give you a hint into what I'm planning. It involves a weird type of alien invasion, and real life game elements.

Thanks for understanding my reasoning. I'll still do a week of three chapter for a week if it does reach rank 10. Once again, I'll see you all later. Lemon Grenade, signing out...

Chapter 34: The World is Dying

The next island we arrived to was twice as big as Sea Phantom, yet it had already been destroyed as well. The entire island had become submerged underwater and most of anything that could be high enough has weathered away. Only a few sturdy rocks could withstand the winds and barely stay above the waters.

"Welp, that island is gone as well," I said, transmitting my voice to my stomach.

"There has to be a place that's still standing," she said as she sat on the floor with boredom.

"By the way, what's your name?" I asked her, since calling her Ice Empress all the time is time consuming.

"Katherine Demetriou. And your name?" she asked. What an odd name. I thought it would resembled Japanese, Chinese, or Korean at least.

"Kip Ronnie, nice to meet you," I said.

"Anyway, where are you from if you're not from here?" she asked curiously.

"Well, I used to just be a normal sea urchin," I said.

"Normal sea urchin? That's your race? Where's the spikes?" she asked, tilting her head.

"I'm a type of sea urchin that specializes in defense. I somehow gained intelligence and decided to leave my spot. It wasn't until I found a temple that had the full inheritance of devour laws that I was able to get this powerful," I said with an imaginary shrug.

"Oh~! I see..." she said as her voice trailed off.

The both of us stayed silent for the next few days. We stumbled upon another island that was huge, probably the size of Greenland. Yet it was destroyed as well with only 95% above waters. I could only think of one possible solution to my problem.

"Hey, do you know the location of that Ice realm or whatever?" I asked her, who seemed to be snoring in my stomach.

*yawns* "Huh? Can you say it again?" she said as she rubbed her eyes, before rolling in my stomach. That image of her being elegant has long gone.

"I said, do you know the location of that Ice realm?" I repeated.

"Ice realm? Ah, you must be talking about that Ice Sanctuary. Yeah, I can figure out it's location. It has ice laws incorporated into it's own realm and I have the laws as well, so it's not difficult," she said with a shrug.

"Track the location, that way we can get out of this storm," I said.

"Are you sure? You do know that anybody above dantian gathering can't enter that realm. It may even collapse if you can't figure out a way to suppress your cultivation," she said seriously.

"Do you have no confidence if my devour laws? They can suppress my cultivation and hid it as well," I said with confidence.

"But if it finds out, it'll launch a fierce attack and attempt to steal them. What that happens, the entire Immortal Realm will be in danger," she said.

"Danger? How so?" I asked.

"Most realms develop a will of their own after a certain amount of time and usually cooperate with clans in the outside world as long as they get benefits. But if a realm gets a full set of devour laws, they become a Devour Realm, which is a horrifying existence."

"Most realms contain little bits of devour laws in them, which allows them to sustain themselves with energy and keep things in balance. They're rarely a threat because the incomplete laws will create serious flaws that we exploit to keep them obedient even if we can't destroy them."

"But a Devour Realm is horrifying because it has no flaws with it's laws. They'll devour other realms and grow themselves while becoming more powerful. Even reality is slowly devoured as it grows. Even heavenly tribulation is useless and will help. Eventually, if nobody stops it, it'll eat the entire Immortal Realm before becoming a World Eater."

"A World Eater is an existence that has devoured an entire world outside their realm. They take on the shape of a human and their entire body smoothly reflects everything like glass. Their body contains a world of it's own the size of the world they existed in. Their worlds inside them resemble what their realm used to be like beforehand. They can even borrow the power of their world to have endless attacks and energy. Gaining the ability to cultivate, they can devour other world's to complement themselves."

"When humanity was at it's peak a billion years, they had recorded that such beings did exist outside the Immortal Realm. Although their numbers are less than 50, they are horrifying existences that even the so-called sea tribes that flooded our world dared not to offend. For all we know, they could've already devoured the Immortal Realm and we'd be inside without knowing."

"This has apparently happened in the past a few times. They can only be stopped by groups of people at the divine realm and it has to be early, or it'll be too late. Do you see now? We'd all be doomed and consumed by a mistake you made," she said with a gloomy face.

"Okay I get it. I'll be careful," I said with sweat rolling down my body.

I had never heard of such an existence, but their powerful enough that even those sea tribes don't dare to offend. But they must be restricting themselves if there's other existences out there, or our world would already be eaten. I don't have the guts to say I can eat the Immortal Realm, but if such an existence can, then I don't think I would wanna get close to such a being.

"Hey, why is it that the Qi concentration hasn't returned to a billion years ago?" I randomly asked Katherine.

"You don't know why?" she asked, slightly surprised.

"Do you think everybody knows?" I said rolling my eyes. She just sighed and rolled on the ground.

"Trees."

"Eh? Say it again?" I asked.

"Trees are what produce Qi. Without them, there's no supply of Qi and it runs out easily," she said in a small voice.

"Our records said that trees are the major source of Qi for everything. Any other plant life doesn't produce substantial Qi for some reason. A billion years ago, the continents were large and trees were abundant, which is why it was such a prosperous era. Then we lost our continents and our source disappeared. It slowly decreased over time and space weakened with it till this day."

"If it wasn't for the fact that plant life is existing in the waters and on some islands, we would've lost all our Qi a long time ago. But it's still decreasing, and could disappear within a thousand or million years," she said sadly.

"This disaster that just happened recently took out much plant life. Our time has shortened by a lot now."

"Watch this," she said as she waved her hand. Space surprisingly shattered easily and the Qi was sucked into it as it slowly repaired itself. I couldn't help but be surprised at how easily space shattered.

"Anybody that has reached Major Meridian realm can break space easily. Back then only Saint realm cultivators could break space like this," she said.

"But why haven't I broken space when I attack?" I asked, confused. I didn't break space when I was attacking.

"You're just using devour energy and shaping it with your mind to attack. It has no technique or essence in it. If you were using true devour techniques that had been developed by users of the devour laws previously, then it'd be different. But true devour techniques have vanished with the inheritance of devour laws. Wasn't there any techniques where you found the inheritance?" she asked.

"No, I just left afterwards. But I don't know it's location anymore," I said with a shrug. Katherine immediately face-palmed while having the most disappointed look in her since I've met her.

I ignored her expression and asked for directions. She easily pointed in a direction and I followed, heading towards Ice Sanctuary.
