Chapter 38 - Arthur's Life (1)

I had nothing to do since meditating was something I didn't currently need. I had already consolidated everything back then even if it was at the minimal. But now it's automatic and the rate is faster than the rate at which my Qi is being replaced with Saint Qi. The cancerous spread of the devour affinity has reached 30% and it's speed hasn't slowed down.

I've had nothing but benefits from it. Although my flesh and blood has turned a dark shade, it has not negatively affected anything. My absorption speed has doubled and I no longer have to manually control the devour laws to absorb faster as it's thoroughly integrating into me as one. I can feel that once it happens, everything will change.

But with nothing to do and bored to death, I lazily played in the snow and build snow castles for entertainment.

But one day, as I was searching the temple to make sure that there was possibly treasures, I stumbled upon something strange in one of the levels that goes beneath the surface. I was in a long hallway that was full of dust and frozen water that clung to some of the walls. But everything had been taken away, so it looked nothing like a glorious hallway that probably once existed in the past.

I couldn't use my divine sense previously and now because the realm would be affected, so I just walked around in human form and searched with my own eyes. The ground is littered with random tiny dots in the ground for an unknown reason. An ancient aura poured from these dots and I felt like I was returning to my origin.

It wasn't until I discovered a small, strange dot that seemed abnormal compared to the others. A bunch of skeletons surrounded it for some reason and it was located between the hallway wall and the center.

This symbol was very tiny, to the point that even a strand of hair couldn't compare. I bent down and peered at it, gathering elemental water in my eyes to see closer. Like a microscope, I got a full view of the symbol. But upon seeing it clearly, I couldn't help but rub my eyes and peer closer, as it didnt' look like a symbol.

In fact, it looked like a large dot surrounded by eight smaller dots that were all in different locations but each one was farther than the rest. I realized it had a similarity of a solar system, like back on Earth. Beneath the thing was a small, long passage of words.

[I hath reached the pinnacle of the martial path, but I've never had a back.

I hath seen through time, to hear the chime.

The chime of an origin just like mine.

Reading this rhyme, you will not die, if you and destiny are intertwined.

You hath given up, but never sever her.

She's your origin, but not a moral sin.

My origin is Earth, where I was given birth.

I was unearthed, in the north poor.

But she was never a thorn.

I will forever wear this plate armor, in remembrance to not harm her.

My enemies were plenty, and my sword was always ready.

But you are not ready, for your sword is still too heavy.

I will not survive, as your time is not in my lifetime.

If you are alive, find my inheritance.

Only those with the chime have no arrogance.

I can find you in the next life, but fight towards the end.

So I can swing my sword, with a friend at the end.

-Arthur]

I stared at the passage, completely baffled by what was written. A chime echoed throughout the hallway and through my body. The passage and diagram brightly lit up with a blueish glow. The diagram lit up and the center dot turned yellow while the other smaller dots seemed to come to life and orbit around it.

All the other dots that painted the ground all expelled the frozen dust and water from them before brightly lighting up. All impurities were expelled and everything became very clean. Blue, gaseous energy was released from the holes in the ground before hovering mid-air. The center emitted yellowish energy as a different color.

All of this began to rearrange itself and I woke up from my stupor. I immediately retreated to the ceiling to look down. But when I see a clear image, I was instantly shocked to the point that my body went cold.

An image similar to the Milky Way was clearly seen from my view. The details were enough that it looked almost like it was real. A yellow glow brighter than the others between the wall and the center was shown which was where the sun was.

An ancient aura was emitted from the entire galaxy and energy rippled out. These energy ripples easily passed through my devour laws and went directly into my soul.

I was suddenly thrown into an illusion and the scenery changed. The world changed to what resembled something on Earth. I felt a familiarity in this world, like it was my origin and I had returned. Things began to feel peaceful, except I realized I was in a human body that I couldn't control.

I saw a middle-aged woman with signs of stress on her skin and face. But she still looked beautiful even though she wore ragged clothing. Sounds of horses echoed in the distance and life seemed to be vibrant everywhere.

I realized that I was in Arthur's memories...
