Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 We meet again

I was on a rooftop casually watching my target. It was already 10 pm and he was still laying in the same spot. I could've sworn I held back enough.

"Ahh my head. What happened?" He said waking up. I was thankful, he had 2 hours to meet with his boss. All i needed was a name and a face.

"I've gotta report to the boss! He said he was going to kill him." He jumped up bolting immediately in a certain direction.

He wasn't heading back to the schoolyard tho, he was going almost around it.

We were slowly tailing him afraid of giving away our location. We had one shot at this. We couldn't afford to fail.

"Boss, it looks like he's checking for tails." One of my guards Sanemi said glancing at me.

"What makes you say that Sanemi? He just said he has to report to his boss." Another guard by the name of Blu said casually. "I mean if you ask me Sanemi, we got this in the bag!"

Sanemi and Blu had always been close. They quite literally grew up together. I still don't know how they and Dano came to be a part of the kingsguard, they're so young.

I mean I'm 18 they were probably 20 at best. I was interested in how strong they were to be a part of the kingsguard at such a young age.

"Blu hold on, Sanemi might have a point. If he's a student at the school same as me, why isn't he heading towards it?" I chimed in noticing our target was slowing down.

"Maybe the meeting place for him and his boss is away from their main base. Either way we'll follow your lead Kamelio." Brax said giving me a thumbs up. We slowed down continuing to follow the target as he sped up and slowed down in intervals.

He then went to the clearing where I first ran into their group and he stopped.

We were perched up in the trees on the far left side of the clearing. There was a whole forest on the right side of the clearing. That was where they were last time, so my eyes were trained on that location.

"Jason! Did you make sure you weren't followed?" A man started walking through the clearing emerging from the forest.

"Boss that must be him, should we move in?"

He had a hood on just like last time I saw him. He was the one who punched at me but made sure he didn't actually hit me.

"Of course I did, I checked the whole way even took a few wrong turns to make sure." Jason said looking around one more time. I'm guessing the guy in the hood was the boss.

"Good, come on then, the boss is waiting for your return." The hooded man turned around walking back into the forest.

The man Jason took one last look at his surroundings before following the hooded man towards the woods.

"Something's not right, don't follow them." I gave the command right as my guards were preparing to move again.

I could feel it though, that same sensation I felt last time when I met their boss. Or should I say, Jason's older brother.

The wind was rushing just like this, and once he left it was calm again. If that hooded man wasn't the brother who took over once I killed Hendrix. Then that means, there's someone else here watching their every move.

"Boss they're getting farther from us we'll lose them at this rate!" Brax said anxiously watching as they got closer to the forest.

"Wait a moment more. Someone else is here." I was still scanning our surroundings trying to find him. I could feel that someone else was near, but I couldn't pinpoint their location.

"There boss! Look over there just past the treeline. Up in that tree with the crooked branches. A man just jumped down from there before following the first two enemies." One of my assassins who was trained in scouting said while using binoculars.

"Bravo!!!! Now we can follow them! Assuming he was the only one watching." I said jumping down from my hiding spot. I was covered in leaves to help me blend in with the trees. But those wouldn't be necessary now. It was pitch black outside meaning we could conceal ourselves with less.

We followed them ensuring to keep enough distance to where we wouldn't be noticed. Wiping the leaves off our clothes along the way.

For missions like this we had what we call blackout clothes. Clothes that were as black if not even darker than the night itself. We could cover our face with the makeshift mask on the hood, close our eyes, and look like a literal shadow on the wall.

It was amazing, but it was also costly. Luckily they already had plenty because they came from the kingsguard. I got mine from them as well.

As we continued to follow them we noticed they weren't heading to the school. In fact they were heading off school property. But in the complete opposite direction of where I lived.

"Jason, the boss has high hopes for you this time. He wants to know everything about Kamelio." The hooded man spoke casually as they continued running.

"Of course, I found out a lot about him. Including the fact that he's not alone. There are at least 20 guards there that I saw." Jason said trying to keep up with the hooded figure.

"Huh? 20 guards Jason? If that's all he has they won't even serve as a proper warm up before we kill him." The hooded man began laughing, his arrogance wafting through the wind as he ran.

"You're not listening man. They were ALL next level! Every single one of them was stronger than me." Jason said slightly panicking. Oddly enough he was leaving out the part that he got captured and knocked out.

I wonder why he was refraining from telling that part.

"Everyone seems next level when you're weak Jason. Once you finish your training you'll see the difference." The hooded man suddenly stopped and so did Jason.

"We're here, the boss should be eating dinner by now. Go help yourself, I already ate so ima stand guard out here." The hooded man immediately looked in our direction making my skin crawl. There's no way in hell he's noticed us.

"Thanks man. Hey you never told me your name, like ever since we've worked together." Jason looked right in the same direction as the hooded man before looking back at him. "You ever gonna tell me?"

"Jason the less you know about me, the better." He said before shooing Jason off. Now it was just us and him in the quiet forest.

He sat down pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.

"Man I don't get why the boss hates us smoking these. They calm my nerves sometimes. I mean hell my nerves are always bad, but they are especially bad right now. I damn near thought I saw a man or two hiding amongst the trees." He looked up in our direction again.

Suddenly he put the cigarette down and stomped on it.

"Come out here and show yourself. I know you're there. I'm not crazy, I saw you with my own eyes. In fact there were so many pairs of eyes amongst the trees I know there are many of you." He said suddenly glaring in our direction.

"Boss I think he knows we're here. Should we just kill him?" Sanemi asked eyeing the man like a predator eyeing prey.

"No patience is a virtue. He was just smoking he's gonna think it's paranoia in a second. If I'm wrong, it won't be too late to kill him." I looked at the hooded man as he stood there. Waiting for someone to appear from the trees.

"Hmmm, Must've been my imagination. I always had a very low tolerance to this stuff." He said immediately turning around and walking away.

"We're in the clear, I dont know what this guy was thinking smoking that while on duty. No wonder his boss never liked them smoking that stuff." I said looking at the hooded man.

He was so much more in tune beforehand. Now that he had taken a pull from that cigarette he was damn near a whole different person.

He walked away without having any kind of guard up. It was confusing, why would someone so strong resort to that and mess up his defenses.

"What's all the damn commotion over here?" A different guard walked up. "Aw, cmon man you know the boss hates when you smoke. Go sleep it off i'll cover for you."

The hooded man headed away and the new guard continuing watching in his place.

Once the hooded man was far enough we snuck up on the guard killing him quickly.

"Should we go kill that hooded man as well?" Blu asked casually glancing in the direction he walked in.

"No, let him go I don't think he'll be much of a problem for us." I said ignoring the fact that I was sparing an enemy.

He was strong before he smoked i'll admit that much. But I wanted to take him out at his best. Besides a man that strong doing something like that is either addicted or looking for an escape. So it wouldn't hurt to give him one for now, and kill him later.

"Boss that guy Jason went inside of this cave to meet with their leader." One of the guards said pointing to the side.

We immediately headed inside listening closely to our surroundings.

The camp was cold, dark, and wet. We could hear the water dripping from the stalactites on the ceiling.

It was quiet for the most part other than that. However we continued venturing deeper into the cave. Waiting to find our targets.

"If you know they planned on killing us all, then tell me. How did you make it back? Did you give them intel on us Jason?" A familiat voice spoke out from the depths of the cave. We were definitely getting closer:

"No I didn't give them any information. I only told them that if they killed me, we would kill Terva. Unless they let me report back to my boss." Jason said in a very nervous voice. I thought he said the man was his brother. Why was he so nervous then?

"What? YOU LED THEM RIGHT TO US!!! DAMMIT!!! Jason you don't listen! Does anyone else know about this?" He asked sounding very concerned for Jason. It wouldn't matter once we got to him.

"No, just you brother." Jason said hanging his lead low.

At this point we could finally see them. They were in a small area with a spiral stone staircase on both sides. It looked like this cave had a man made escape route dug out in the back of it.

"Good, I can't keep covering for you like this brother. You've gotta do better. How much time do you think we have before they get here?" The man asked with a slightly worried look on his face.

"Not long, assuming they aren't arriving as we speak. I checked for tails the whole time and I circled around a few times before going to the meeting place." Jason was standing there with a fearful look on his face.

It was apparent these two cared about eachother. The brotherly love was real, but it wouldn't save them from me.

"Alright we both know they are gonna track you down, thats why they spared you. Lets leave through the back entrance. The other two we'll leave here to throw them off our trail. Its only four of us since they killed Hendrix. However the man in the hood will be able to wipe them all out anyway. He's a demon assassin." The guy was talking and walking towards the stairs.

Now was a good time to make our move.

"Blu and Sanemi take out Jason." I whispered to them before sneaking around the side to get the leader.

There were many of us in here. One false step would alert the targets of our presence.

As they inched closer to Jason I had arrived about fifteen feet from his brother. They had threatened my woman, their fate was sealed as soon as they made that decision.

Gripping the blade in my hand, I slowly moved within ten feet.

Suddenly Sanemi and Blu made their move launching throwing knives at Jason.

"Shit Jason move!" His brother yelled panicking pushing Jason out of the way and swinging a sword to deflect the throwing knives at the same time.

I moved in slashing at the man intending to mortally wound him. But he saw it and dodged it impeccably. His perception of his surroundings was top tier. If I didn't know any better I'd say he knew we were here the whole time.

I pulled my own throwing knife aiming at Jason's leg and threw it.

As it whooshed through the air his brother failed to take notice of it as he was fighting Sanemi. It struck Jason perfectly making him an even bigger liability.

"Nooo!! Damn it!" He screamed fighting with even more ferocity.

"Blu do it now!!!" I yelled running at the man.

"Michael help!" Jason yelled as Blu held the knife to his throat.

"Wait we can talk about this come on." Michael, Jasons brother said putting his hands up.

"Heh, the time to talk has long passed." I said signaling Blu to kill Jason.

Michael tried to run forward noticing my signal but I stopped him.

He watched as his brother was killed right in front of him.

"I tried so hard to protect him mom." Michael suddenly spoke in a darker tone. His eyes burned red with a black pupil.

This is what Shan was telling me about. He was losing control.

But even more interesting, he was trying to hide the fact that he was a demon assassin.

"I told myself I'd never use this power again. But for you Jason, I'll make an exception!" He glared directly at Blu before shoving his clawed hand through his chest.

"I'll make them pay."
