Chapter 7 - ALTAR

By the time I awoke, the sun was shining brightly and three hours had already past. "Your finally awake!" Hazel said squeezing me tightly in her arms and I could barely get a breath in.

"Just in time kid, take a look." Whisper said somewhat blankly as he stood on the wyvern's neck pointing out to the horizon. I staggered as I rose to my feet, my vision was blurry as I slopped over to see what had this idiot so excited. Just beneath the horizon and a little over the clouds sat a giant temple, it's architecture was beautiful and breath taking, its outer walls were magnificently designed and despite it being partially destroyed and worn-out it had something about it that made me have an affinity for it. I stared in awe at the scene until Hazel nudged my arm slightly and gave a faint smile at me, I then stilled myself, how could I have forgotten the situation I was in and who we were with.

The wyvern then descended at the entrance of the temple. Whisper got off first and without warning dispelled the wyvern and we fell painfully to the ground. "You jerk!" I exclaimed in pain, "What was that for?!" Hazel too yells in pain. Whisper then turns his head to us, it felt like he was going to say something but he just turns away and skips around us while giggling. "You, arrogant crap-head." Was the thought on my mind as my eyes narrowed with anger and frustration.

I got up and gazed upon the entrance, it had an awfully unnatural atmosphere around it, almost like it was alive and watching us. It had two great pillars, both designed with markings of a beautiful woman, they were so tall it looked like they might fall on us.

Hazel Evertwigh

The temple was an amazing site to behold, I found myself admiring the beauty of its architecture and yet feeling un easy at the same time, it felt like we were being watched, but by the temple itself. I could tell Eden had come to the same conclusion as me, judging by the way he was glaring at the temple. As for Whisper, he acted like everything was fine, he seemed to not have a care in the world. We took a look around the environment around us to make sure there weren't any traps or maybe even, Nightmares. Me and Eden did all the scouting and we had to fight all the monsters that were near, Whisper of course, just sat on the ground and barked orders at us.

We were at it the whole morning and it looked Eden would lose his head in irritation towards Whisper, I found it oddly amusing to see Eden get frustrated and argue, while Whisper would simply ignore or laugh at him. Don't get me wrong, Whisper was terrifying, but he wasn't all that bad, he was funny, composed and very happy. His company felt like that of an elder brother for some reason, "Alright, I guess it's time we actually went in, right?" Whisper said as he got up and began to stretch, "It doesn't look that scary now does it?" he said again but this time he cut his thumb and blood began to flow from it.

He then started to write on one of the pillars, with each stroke the blood glowed a bright red. He drew a several patterns on the pillars, they somewhat resembled those found on ancient runes, he then cut his other thumb and dropped a single drop by the entrance to the temple, I wondered what he could possibly be doing.

"Hey, come on." Whisper said, but his voice had a different tone to it. It sounded more serious and he had a more intimidating demeanor, like his personality switched.

Eden

As we step into the temple, the warmth we had from the sun faded away, it was replaced with a bone chilling cold. The halls of the temple were old and filthy, though despite all that it all felt eerily familiar to me. Perhaps it was the continues visions, I thought it'd be better to believe that. The floors and walls were covered in vines and leaves, the deeper in we went, the colder it became. We walked through the hallway for about fifteen minutes before we arrived at an empty hall at the centre of the temple.

The hall was unlike the rest of the temple, it was surprisingly well kept, there wasn't a single vine anywhere, not even a single speck of dust laid on the floor. I was filled with a feeling of unease and the cold wasn't helping our situation, I noticed Hazel wasn't comfortable with the place, the cold left her shivering as she treaded through the hall. Whisper on the other hand seemed unfazed with the lowering temperature, he moved with a hint of determination to him, he showered the room examining everything around it. The only thing that stood out was the altar with rune symbols in the centre of the room.

"What is that for?" Hazel asked, her voice with a stutter, Whisper remained silent and stepped towards the altar. His silence was unusual, he was acting different, his demeanour was unpleasant and left me with a bad feeling.

"She asked you a question, so tell us what that is!" I said grinding my teeth, fear slowly took came over me as I stared into his mask. For a second I thought he was going to say something, but he simply turned away and went back to the altar. I was annoyed and wanted to hit him, but I couldn't.

Hazel came and grasped me by my arms, "I think it'll be over soon, maybe he's found what he was looking for.". I nodded my head and steadied myself,

"Your right, I have found it, the key to her power." Whisper says, his voice laced with malice and insanity. He disappears instantly reappearing in front of Hazel he grabs on to her throat, she tries to break free but he's too strong. My blood boiled "Let go of her!!" I yell as I draw my dagger to his throat.
