Chapter 16 - A Truth, a Revelation, and a Copy

Hagan was peacefully eating his exquisite meal of real meat and fruits when his senses alerted him that a group of shadows was approaching from behind.

'Well at least I can't get snuck up on.'

Hagan put his fork down, took a sip of purified, clean water, something he'd never had the luxury of trying before the Academy, then turned around to face the group of boys.

"Hey, new kid, when did you get here?"

"This morning, first day here."

The boy grinned and looked at his posse who all seemed heavily sheltered with a decent upbringing. People all around the cafeteria noticed and began to stare and whisper, turning this whole situation into a spectacle.

"How was your first trial? Did you piss your pants running from the first creature you saw then happen to run into a Return Altar?"

Hagan shook his head and couldn't help but smile at the cliche he'd just encountered.

"No, I did try and run but decided it'd be better to smite the beast with the power of the Gods. Barely had to do anything."

It was true, he did run then decide to use thee Metal Rod as a lightning rod. Many people already refer to storms and lightning as the wrath of the Gods so that wasn't really a lie. As for barely doing anything, all he did was drive a rod into its head then run.

The kid stared at Hagan, dumbfounded, not knowing how to respond. After a few moments, the kids bursted with laughter and walked away.

Hagan silently laughed at the boys and turned to finish his food. As he was finishing, Luna sat opposite of him and a few seats down, she glanced at Hagan a few times but never said anything. Hagan decided to ignore her and began thinking.

'Since the Gods can whisper to me, can I whisper to them? No, there's no way, that would be ridiculo-'

"Grow your connection to the Gods and they can answer your inquiries."

Hagan choked in his food and took a large gulp of water. He was coughs off guard by the sudden female voice he heard in his ear.

'That… okay, I will definitely focus on finding information about the Gods.'

Luna saw Hagan randomly choke on his food and stare into nothing with a confused expression, she tilted her head a little but didn't comment and kept eating.

Hagan finished his last few bites of food and then headed toward the training room Allen had told him about earlier. He was excited to finally be able to some practical training even if he didn't have anyone to learn from.

When he arrived, there was a large group of people on the right side of the room, they were all practicing a similar sword style but didn't let Hagans arrival distract them. Hagan thought that maybe he could observe the students movement from the shadow and copy them.

When he started, he cleared his mind and concentrated on copying the other kids movements. The problem however, is that although they were all doing the same movements, they had their own way of performing them, making it extremely difficult to copy.

Hagan managed to focus on someone with a similar build to himself and managed to replicate a few basic slashed.
