Chapter 1 - 1 THE FIRST CHAPTER

I woke up with pains all over my body. I stood up, looked around, and noticed the destruction.

What exactly happened here?.

I covered my mouth as I coughed and looked at my hand.

"Blood!!?" I was starting to feel dizzy. "Megumin!?"

I wanted to stand up, but I fell down. I looked at my left leg and noticed that it was twisted to the left.

I stood up and walked a little bit away from where I was standing, not minding my broken leg. I kept on walking, dragging my leg along then stopped at a spot and started digging out the rumble. I kept digging, hoping to find her. I lifted a boulder, and I saw something sticking out, so I dug again and noticed it was her leg. That gave me a little hope as I dug faster, not minding the weight of the rocks and the injury that it was causing to my hand.

"Oh, thank God she's still breathing." I happily pushed away the heavy iron on her, looked up, and saw a helicopter coming towards us.

"That was a hospital helicopter," I said happily as I carried her in my hand, walking to the end of the building where I saw light. "That must be the rescue team. Just hold on, Megumin. We are almost there."

I walked slowly, dragging my leg on the rubble. I saw some lab equipment, then I tripped on something. I looked, thinking it was some equipment, but to my surprise, it was Kenji. Yes, I couldn't recognize the half-bloody-messed-up part of his face, and the other side was crushed, but I knew that the heavily red hair anywhere was Kanji's.

Kenji was one of the inmates at the facility. I remembered that he sacrificed himself to protect us and was supposed to be crushed since the building collapsed, but how could his body come above ground? It was supposed to be under the pile of rubbish, and seeing it made me throw up.

I gently dropped Megumin and quickly reached for Kenji.

"Kenji, can you hear me???" I screamed and tried to pull him out as he moans softly in pain. "I'm going to get you out; just keep breathing!!!"

In panic, I held his shoulder and tried to pull him harder. My hands slipped on his bloody body, and I fell down. I stood up and tried again, but I pulled out the upper part of his body.

I threw him on the ground, and I screamed fearfully. It was only the upper part of his body; the rest was missing. His blood flowed slowly to me, and I moved back quickly, trying to avoid the blood when my hand touched something. I turned around and saw an arm. I looked to the other side; there were some parts of the body. It was a ripped part of the inmate's body.

"Ahhhhhh!!!" I screamed and held my head. I just can't take it. I stood, carried Megumin, and ran towards the light.

I kept running till I slipped down the pile, hit my head on a stone, and fainted.

I woke up days later on a hospital bed and noticed a child staring at me.

She was about twelve years old. Her hair was so long that it almost looked like it was touching the floor; her eyes were bright purple; and she had a cute, innocent face. She looked delighted.

"Where...am I?, and who...who... who are you?"

"Well, that's rude. For someone who saved your life, the least you can do is say thank you."

"Okay, thank you, but where are we?"

"That doesn't matter," she said as she stood up, walked up to me, and pointed to my face. "I'm Mira Tokoyami, the daughter of Natski Tokoyami, the dark magic sage, and from now on, you are my slave."

Okay, I was wrong. She was a spoils child.

"Slave???!!!!!!" I asked surprisingly. "Please, I don't have time for this. I need to check if Megumin's okay." I stood from my bed, but she ran and held my hand.

"You need to rest; you can check on her later."

"No, I want to go now. Let go of me!!!" I shouted at her, trying to shake her off.

We both stopped as we heard a knock on the door. A young lady opened the door and entered. She was in her early twenties. Her hair was nicely braided, and her eyes were beautiful. She was wearing a suit, which shows her curves quite well.

"I'm here to see you," she was referring to me.

"And, who are you?" I asked.

"I'm an interrogator, and I'm from the ASE, London," she informed. "And I'm here to ask you some questions."

"Why?" I asked.

"Can we sit down first?" The interrogator asked.

"Sure." I sat down on the bed, and while she took a seat on a chair beside the bed, Mira stood beside me.

"Can you remember anything that happened when you were there?" She asked. "A name?, a face description?, anything that can help us?"

"I don't think I do," I replied.

"Try!!" She yelled, bringing her face closer to mine. "We just need something, anything."

"You are too clo..." Mira tried to stop her.

"You are not the only one there, and you know that. There were other children, just like you. They all died. Don't you want justice for them?"

I was beginning to freak out; she was putting me under too much pressure. I don't want to remember what happened; I don't want to think about it.

My heart started beating faster, and my body was shivering. I was going insane.

"Please, stop. I can take it anymore," I said, but she just wouldn't stop.

"I think that will be enough for today," another lady said as she walked in. "Don't you think he's had enough, Elizabeth?"

"Miss Tokoyami!!" Elizabeth stopped as she bowed her head with respect. "I was just asking some questions."

"I can see that." Miss Tokoyami smiled at her. "Do you want to be my shadow?"

"I'm so sorry, Miss Tokoyami," Elizabeth bowed her head continuously apologetically. "Sorry, I lost my composure. Why don't I leave and come back tomorrow?"

"Sounds like a good idea," Miss Tokoyami replied, and Elizabeth left.

Miss Tokoyami walked to me, but I was still shivering while Mira tried to calm me down.

"Poor child, don't worry. You can rest now," she said to me, and suddenly I fell asleep.

* * *

I stood on the other side of the lake; it wasn't too deep, but it was wide, creating a distance far enough for me not to see her face, but I knew that was my mom.

"Mom," I called, and I attempted to swim to the other side to meet her. "I'm coming; wait for me."

"Don't come here," my mother shocked me with her words. "Stay back; don't come any closer."

"Mom, what's wrong?, It's your son, Kakashi.

"You are not my son!!" I was shocked. I stood there without moving, and my body became frozen all of a sudden. "No son of mine will live happily forgetting about his sister, Where is Your Sister, Kakashi?, Where is Tokah?"

That was the first time my mother yelled at me; she was usually sweet and caring.

"I don't know where she is. I tried to stop them, but I just couldn't; I was not strong enough."

"Stop with all the complaining; you are not my son; that is until you find your sister." Tears rolled down my cheeks. I felt a pain in my chest, and I placed my hand on my chest, holding my shirt tightly.

"I promise you this: I WILL FIND TOKAH."

"Brother, are you looking for me? I hope I'm not in trouble." I turned my head slowly and saw her not far from me. She was wearing a tattered, dirty white gown, and her long, rough white hair was covering her face.

"Come, Tokah, you got me worried. Were you out playing in the dirt again? Remember what mom said? You're a girl, so act like one."

All of a sudden, she started running the other way from where my mother was.

"Catch me, brother; if you want me to come, you'll have to catch me first." I ran after her desperately; I needed to get back to my mother.

"Come, Tokah, you are going the other way. Come please!!!" I called her desperately. "TOKAH!!!!!!!!"

I woke up, so it was a dream. Is mom trying to make me find my sister?.

"Kakashi, why are you crying?" Mira asked, and she looked worried. I touched my cheeks and noticed tears on my face.

"I was crying." I said this to no one in particular.

"You were also saying a bunch of weird stuff too." She brought her handkerchief, wiped my tears, and put it back in her pocket.

"You should come with us; the doctor said you're free to go."
