ARTEMIS POV
I could barely sleep that night. I had kissed Aiden so hard and we had nearly even done it in that closet but suddenly he stopped and righted my clothes and told me "Let's go"
I had never had a male lover or boyfriend before because I was too busy rejecting them but I didn't know what came over me when I kissed him. It was like I had been wanting it. But I hadn't been wanting this, have I? I couldn't recall. What changed?
I had wrapped my legs around his waist and he had slammed me into a wall and I could feel his erection throbbing between my legs but he had stopped and asked if we could go.
I was embarrassed after that but I didn't regret kissing him. Infact, I wanted to kiss him again. His lips were intoxicating, I could still taste the cigar on them.
I ran a hand down my leg as I stared at the mirror and imagined it was Aiden running a hand on my thigh.
"Miss?" Someone said and I jumped. I covered my legs and turned. It was Daymon.
"I was knocking and you didn't responsibly I had to come in" he said and I nodded. I flashed and awkward smile.
"It's alright Daymon. Can I help you?" I said. Daymon blue eyes looked like they were fighting with themselves and I followed their gaze and saw I hadn't covered the other thigh completely. I did so immediately.
"The boss said I should take you to the store today. Get you dressed up for the party he is taking you this evening" he said and I grinned. Yeah, I needed to go shopping. I was tired of wearing Hera's old clothes.
I nodded and smiled at him. He didn't smile back, just looked right into my eyes.
"Thank you Daymon. Come back in an hour I'll be ready and umm. I wanna take the Audi today. That Ferrari is too fast," I said and he nodded. I didn't know if he understood but his green eyes softened. He nodded to me and stepped out of the room.
I sighed and brushed my hair down in straight cascades. I wondered what Aiden would be doing now, would he be thinking of that kiss? He didn't seem interested in me. I knew he wanted me at the moment but since then he had been pretty much avoiding me. He hadn't even come to bed.
I slipped into a simple shirt and jeans and tennis shoes with tinted shades to match.
Daymon and some of the other boys were already waiting for me in front of a brand new Audi. Did they just buy that? I noticed Aiden didn't have Audis. He bought all types of cars but not an Audi. Now a brand new one was here because I asked.
Daymon opened the door for me and I smiled sweetly at him.
"Thank you Daymon," He nodded. I felt like we would be great friends if he wasn't Aiden's right hand man.
When we got to the store, everyone just stared at me when I stepped down from the car. I couldn't blame them, it wasn't everyday a woman stepped out of a car with huge guards in dark shades flanking her. If someone told me weeks ago that this was going to be my life, I would have died of laughter.
I inspected the gown section with Daymon beside me.
"What do you think Daymon? Which one suits me?" I asked and he shook his head.
"It's not in position for me to say," he said and I narrowed my eyes.
"Says who? Who made that rule?" I said and he shrugged.
"You're the boss. I am just a mere guard," he said and I shook my head.
"You aren't a mere guard Daymon. You are ummm… a person so help me pick a dress," I said and he shook his head. His blonde hair fell to his temples.
"I can't," he said and I sighed tiredly.
"Please," I rested a hand on his shoulder and he tensed. "Please will you?" I begged and he nodded.
"The red one," he said and I followed his gaze to a red dress five meters from where I stood. Surprisingly the dress looked to be made for my body. How did Daymon notice that so fast?
"Thank you" I said and he nodded.
"You are welcome ma'am," he said and I shook my head.
"Artemis, call me Artemis," I said and he nodded.
"Thank you… Artemis," he said and I grinned at him.
"That wasn't so hard you see,"
**********
It was crowded, packed, full of sweaty bodies and people dancing. I have never been to this kind of party before. Back when I was in high school, I attended prom once.
I risked a glance at Aiden's side profile, amazed by how he took my breath away. My feelings had intensified after that kiss.
I…I was falling for him
But he didn't seem to notice
Aiden's head turned to me and I couldn't hide my face so I blushed, he looked away again.
"Act cool, watch out for bad guys. Guys here have their hormones as high as hell," he said and I stared at him.
"Are you not going to be here with me?" I asked. Aiden's green eyes reflected under the disco lights turning golden.
"I'll be back. I have one or two businesses to attend to," he said and I chuckled bitterly.
"Business? I see. It's always business" I said and he frowned at me.
"What do you mean?" He asked, annoyed and I shook my head.
"Just go," I said tiredly and he frowned.
"I don't understand. I…"
"Leave me the fuck alone Aiden. Go!" I nearly yelled and he nodded. He was gone before I could even say another word, the crowd closing around him like the sea.
Why did I have to go and fall for a man whose heart is made of stone.
"Hello there" someone said and I turned to see another version of Aiden staring at me.
"Aiden?" I said and the man grinned.
"No love. It's Kane, Aiden's brother"
