ARTEMIS POV
If Aiden was avoiding me before then he was running from me now. For the first time he had defiled his father's orders and slept in his own room. He brought a lady and throughout the night, I heard her moans and screams.
Aiden didn't even talk to me, take me anywhere or ask if anything was up. He just walked past and minded his business.
I was trying to act cool but it was hard—when the person you had fallen in love was avoiding you like trash. His father had been happier, I was sure he didn't notice his son wasn't sleeping in the same room with his supposed wife.
Aiden came out of the room immediately I stepped into the hall. Our eyes met and his hardened. I sighed. I wanted to apologize but my stubbornness won't let me. Why should I even apologize?
Aiden started to walk past and I did a cheery smile.
"Good morning," I said and he breezed past without a word. I turned to stare as he walked; he didn't even turn back once. He acted like I didn't exist. I continued down the hall, I headed over to a bar and poured myself wine.
Fine if he wanted to act like that but did he have to rub it in my face with another woman. I know I didn't have the right to force him to do anything and I shouldn't talk as well but I couldn't help it. The way he comforted me in his arms, the way he had kissed me that day made me want him, made me ache for him, made me love him.
I took another swing of the wine and sighed. Never had I thought that I would fall for Aiden so quickly.
"Best was to drown in your sorrows," came Kane's voice behind me and I turned and smiled at him. What was he doing here? Aiden would kill him if he found him here.
"Kane, what are you doing here?" I asked and he shrugged, he slid in a bar stool next to mine and poured himself wine.
"Visiting," he said with a cheeky smile and I shook my head trying hard not to laugh. Knowing how Aiden reacted when he saw me with Kane at a party I wondered what he would do if he saw me with Kane in his very house.
"You know Aiden isn't going to like this. He doesn't seem to like you," I said and Kane shrugged. He sipped his wine slowly, keeping those smokey green eyes on me.
"I don't like him either, he has every right to flat me alive for coming here but I couldn't help it," he drummed his fingers on the table and sighed.
"I wanted to see you again and knowing Kane wasn't going to let you out ever again, so I came myself," he said and I raised a brow.
"How did you get past the guards?" I asked and he grinned.
"I told them it was urgent business from my father. Only a fool would argue that with me," Kane said and I smiled.
It was funny how I was chasing one brother and the other one was doing everything possible to get me.
Life was ironic.
"Umm so why did you want to see me?" I asked and he stared at the picture of Don Carlo on the wall.
"You are beautiful. I couldn't wait to see you again," he said.
"Thank you" I said and he shook his head.
"It's not about saying Thank you. I wanna punch Aiden for not seeing what he has in front of him," he said and I faked a chuckle.
"Maybe he is not into redheads," I said bitterly. Kane took another drink.
"He is. He has loved red haired people since he was a kid," Kane poured another drink.
"So what's wrong with me? I-I love him, but he seems like he doesn't even care," I said. Kane's eyes didn't leave my face.
"Aiden is an idiot, he must be crazy but don't rule out his feelings are 'not caring', he could be hiding it."
I scoffed.
"By bringing a woman who he has sex with every night," I said. Kane laughed and raised his glass in a toast.
"To Aiden," he said. I didn't raise my glass.
""Fuck him," I said quietly. I wasn't going to let sadness eat me up because of a guy who couldn't love me. I smiled at Kane.
"He doesn't care about me so why toast to him,"
I whispered. Kane nodded, he reached over and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
"He is stupid, very stupid," Kane said and I nodded, mesmerized by how much he looked like Aiden. He leaned closer and I closed my eyes—imagining Aiden.
"Nice to see you brother," came Aiden's voice behind us and I jumped. Kane didn't look fazed, he scowled and stood facing his older brother.
"Nice to meet you Aiden," he said and Aiden's eyes darkened. I knew what that meant—trouble.
"What are you doing here?" He asked and Kane shrugged.
"Keeping Artemis company since you left her to bury your balls in someone else" he said and Aiden smirked. I have never seen Aiden smile that way. Like he was going to do something terrible.
"Yeah, what's it in for you? You have a thing for her," he asked. Kane scowled.
"Yes," he answered, even stunning me. Aiden laughed and turned to Daymon.
"He has a thing for her," he said, chuckling. Daymon didn't even smile one bit. Before Kane could react, Daymon slammed a fist into Kane's face.
"Yeah, that would teach you not to come to my house ever," he said and I rushed to Kane's side, he was bleeding from where Daymon punched.
"What's wrong with you?" I yelled to both Aiden and Daymon.
"He is your brother you arrogant pig" I screamed and Aiden's eyes intensified.
"This is Creek business Artemis" Aiden said and turned to Daymon.
"Take her upstairs , and lock her there. Watch her from now on," he said and Daymon grabbed me into his arms. I struggled and screamed and hit Daymon along the way countless times but he didn't flinch. He pushed open my bedroom door and tossed me on the bed, shutting the door behind him.
