Chapter 9 - Hurt

ARTEMIS POV

"Are you gonna stand there all day?" I asked and as usual Daymon kept quiet. Sometimes I wondered if he was mute, if he hadn't spoken the first time we met I would have said he was dumb.

I gave him a scalding look, but he didn't even blink. He just kept those ice cold blue eyes on me and it gave me chills.

"Stop staring at me!" I yelled in frustration and he blinked but kept staring. I sighed and got up from the bed to stare down the window.

"What did you guys do…" I turned and smacked into a rock hard chest. I looked up to see Daymon standing close.

"Why are you behind me?" I asked and Daymon closed the window shut. He grabbed me roughly and flung me on the bed.

I stared at him in anger and sat up, did he think I was going to jump out the window? I wasn't that stupid and I didn't want to die.

"What's wrong with you I am not jumping out from a five story mansion. I am not stupid," I said.

"You are," came his voice so unexpected and deep that I nearly screamed.

"Really? You don't say a word but you can call me stupid," I glared at him and he shrugged. He turned to focus on something. I beelined for the door and turned the knob. The door opened but before I could slip through, I was grabbed by the waist and this time literally thrown onto the bed. The door slammed shut and I heard a key turning.

Daymon grabbed my hand and put it on the bedpost. He brought out cuffs and my eyes widened. I let my other hand fly and slammed it into his jaw so hard that it was enough to break it if it was a lesser person. But Daymon didn't even flinch. He didn't even look like something hit him. He cuffed my left hand and nodded in satisfaction.

"Fuck you" I growled. His lips twitched like he was trying hard not to smile.

"Once it's the afternoon, you'll be free but for now you have to stay right here" he said. I scowled.

"I am not a puppet, a toy or a slave. Take this cuff off me this minute," I said angrily. Daymon grabbed a cloth and shoved it into my mouth, silencing me. I gave him the most evil stare I could come up with.

By noon after an epic showdown with me and Daymon, he let me free. He still followed me anywhere I went. Monitored my phone calls, even stood outside when I was taking showers..

I stared at Daymon watching me while I smelled the flowers, then I cut one out and handed it to him.

"Go on, sniff at it," I said. I wanted him to sniff it then I was going to call him a dog. Daymon stared at it then crumpled it in his hands and threw it away.

"Nice try," was all he said and I sighed. He was as grumpy as Aiden, even worse.

"So you have a girlfriend or something?" I asked as I sat on the bench. He plopped down at the far end of the bench and didn't answer. I sighed. Aiden strode into view, his commanding presence taking all aura in the air. Daymon stood and Aiden nodded to him.

"Thank you Daymon," he said and Daymon nodded and walked away.

"Tired of your slut already?" I asked and Aiden laughed. A sound so foreign yet endearing.

"You are funny, you know that? She isn't my slut, if she is then that's what you are too," he said and I gave him a disgusted look.

"We haven't done anything together," I said and he shrugged.

"Yes. I remember being the one stopping you" he said smugly and I clenched my fists.

"Why? Scared?" I taunted and he shrugged.

"I didn't want to do it… with you" he said with a wicked grin. I blinked back my tears of hurt and embarrassment.

"If you don't like me why won't you let me be near Kane. He is more fun than you ever are" I said softly and he nodded.

"True but you have no idea who Kane is," he said and I shook my head.

"I don't care, he has been nothing but kind, open and genuine with his intentions towards me. I want to reciprocate," I rubbed my palms along my thigh. Aiden raised a brow.

"Why? Because he looks like me?" He said cruelly. I stifled back a sob.

"So you know how I…

"Yes I know how you feel. Sadly, I can't umm… reciprocate." He said and stood.

"So you feel nothing? Not even a tiny shard of care?" I asked.

Aiden's green eyes became unreadable, I could tell that he was thinking.

"I do care, for your own good and mine. Stay away from Kane. Don't say I didn't warn you," he started to walk away but I stood up and grabbed his arm.

"Kane told me you like redheads," I said and Aiden's eyes burned in anger and uncertainty.

"That's not…"

"No need to lie Aiden," I said and he stared at me once more then he pulled his arm away.

"Kane is a fool. Have you seen me with a redhead?" he asked.

"Me," I answered and he laughed harshly.

"You think that matters. You should know this Artemis… I'll never ever fall for you and anyone"
