As soon as they walked into their student apartment, Emily headed straight to the desk to start working on their assignments. Emma, on the other hand, flopped down on the bed, phone in hand.
"Ugh, I'm so glad we're finally back," Emma said, scrolling through social media. "I'm exhausted from that long drive."
Emily nodded, not looking up from her books. "Me too. But we need to get this homework done. We can't afford to fall behind."
Emma sighed and put down her phone. "I know, I know. But can't we just take a break for a little while? We've been studying all day."
Emily looked up, a hint of a smile on her face. "Just focus for a little while longer, okay? We can take a break later."
Emma nodded and picked up her phone again, this time browsing through fashion trends. Emily went back to focusing on their assignments, determined to get them done as quickly as possible.
As the evening wore on, Emma suddenly sat up straight. "Hey, Em? Do you think we'll see that doctor Jack again tomorrow?"
Emily looked up, a confused expression on her face. "I don't know. We didn't get his number or anything."
Emma pouted. "That's true. But hopefully, he'll be back tomorrow. The conference is still going on, after all."
Emily raised an eyebrow. "You really like him, don't you?"
Emma nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, I do! He's so charming and good-looking. I just can't stop thinking about him."
Emily smiled and shook her head. "You're such a hopeless romantic."
Just then, the doorbell rang. Emma jumped up to answer it, revealing a group of their friends standing in the hallway.
"Hey, guys! Come on in," Emma said, stepping aside to let them in.
Their friends, Sofia, Ava, and Olivia, chatted and laughed as they made themselves at home. Sofia, a petite blonde with a big personality, flopped down on the couch beside Emma.
"Emma, how are you? We've missed you so much!" Sofia exclaimed, giving Emma a big hug.
"I'm good, thanks," Emma replied, smiling. "I'm just glad to be back."
Ava, a tall and athletic brunette, headed straight to the kitchen. "Emily, what's up? Come out of that kitchen!" she called out, laughing.
Olivia, a quiet and reserved redhead, sat down at the desk beside Emily. "Hey, Emily. How's it going?"
As they chatted and laughed, the conversation turned to the latest gossip on campus.
"So, what's the latest on campus?" Sofia asked, leaning in curiously.
"Well, I heard that the school is planning to host a big music festival next semester," Ava said, eyes shining with excitement.
"That sounds amazing!" Emma exclaimed. "I love music festivals."
"And I heard that the school's basketball team is doing really well this season," Olivia added.
"Really?" Emily asked, interested. "I hadn't heard that."
As they talked about the latest news on campus, Emma couldn't help but think of Doctor Jack and how handsome he was. She wondered if she would see him again tomorrow.
The conversation eventually turned to the conference that Doctor Jack had attended.
"I heard that some really important people came in for the conference," Sofia said. "Like, some big shots from the business world."
Emma's ears perked up. "Really? That's so cool."
Ava chimed in. "And I heard that some of the speakers were really good-looking. Like, model material."
The group erupted into laughter and jokes about the good-looking speakers. Emma couldn't help but think of Doctor Jack and how handsome he was.
"I actually met one of the speakers today," Emma said, a sly grin spreading across her face.
Sofia's eyes lit up. "Oh, yeah? What was he like?"
Emma sighed dreamily. "He was so charming and good-looking. I just can't stop thinking about him."
Her friends all oohed and ahhed, eager to hear more about the handsome speaker. Emma ha
ppily obliged, telling them all about her encounter with Doctor Jack.
