As Emma and Emily drove back to their student apartment, Emma turned to Emily with a curious expression.
"So, do you like him?" Emma asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Emily shrugged. "Mm, he seems like a nice guy, but I don't like him like that, in a romantic way."
Emma's face lit up with excitement. "Good!" she exclaimed.
Emily raised an eyebrow. "Why good?"
Emma's smile grew wider. "Can I have the business card he gave you?"
Emily hesitated for a moment before handing over the card. She didn't want to get involved in any potential drama between her sister and Doctor Jack.
Later that evening, Doctor Jack checked back into his hotel room. As he settled in, his phone rang. It was his mother.
"Hello, dear," his mother said. "I was just calling to check in. When are you going to settle down and get married?"
Doctor Jack sighed inwardly. He had been hearing this lecture for years. "Mom, I'll get married when the time is right," he said patiently.
His mother sighed. "I just want to see you happy, dear. And I want to see my grandkids before I die."
Doctor Jack felt a pang of guilt. He knew his mother was worried about her health, and he didn't want to add to her stress. "I'll try, Mom," he said. "I promise."
As he hung up the phone, Doctor Jack couldn't help but think about Emily. He had been thinking about her all day, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had missed an opportunity.
"Why did I give her my card?" he thought to himself. "I should have gotten her number instead."
He shook his head, chuckling wryly. "Well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see if she calls."
Little did he know, Emma had other plans.
Meanwhile, Emma decided to call Doctor Jack despite her sister's reservations. When he picked up, Emma invited him to take her and Emily out to experience the campus nightlife.
"Hi Doctor Jack," Emma said, trying to sound casual. "I was wondering if you'd like to take my sister and me out tonight? We could show you around the campus nightlife."
Doctor Jack agreed, and they made plans for him to pick them up.
When Doctor Jack arrived, he noticed that only Emma was dressed up. "Wow, Emma, you look beautiful tonight," he said, smiling at her.
Emma blushed, feeling a surge of excitement. "Thanks, Doctor Jack. You look pretty great yourself."
Doctor Jack turned to Emily, who was still wearing her casual clothes. "And Emily, you're not joining us?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Emily shrugged. "I wasn't really planning on it."
Doctor Jack smiled persuasively. "Come on, Emily. It'll be fun. I promise."
Emily hesitated for a moment before agreeing to join them.
As they drove to the campus nightlife spot, Doctor Jack was charming and fun, telling stories and jokes that made both Emma and Emily laugh.
But as the evening wore on, Emma couldn't shake the feeling that Doctor Jack was more interested in Emily than in her.
Finally, as they sat down at a table, Doctor Jack turned to Emily and said, "Emily, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Emma felt a pang of unease as Doctor Jack turned to face Emily. "I have to be honest with you, Emily," he said, his voice low and sincere. "I've been thinking about you all day. I think you're an amazing person, and I was wondering if you'd like to get to know me better."
Emma felt like she had been punched in the gut. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Emily looked taken aback, but she tried to play it cool. "I...I don't know what to say," she stammered.
Doctor Jack smiled, his eyes locked on Emily's. "Just say yes," he said, his voice full of hope.
Emma couldn't take it anymore. She got up and rushed to the bathroom, where she broke down in tears.
"It's all about Emily," she sobbed. "It's always about her."
When Emma returned, she asked Doctor Jack to take them home. The evening h
ad ended in disaster, and Emma just wanted to escape the awkwardness.
