Bite!
The jaws of the huge mutated beast near Roxie clamped down on her torso. Pain bloomed at the affected area and blood poured out of her body like she was a fountain.
The monster's mouth moved as it chewed.
It was a pity.
Roxie blinked her eyes slowly.
There was no part of her body that was untouched by blood and injuries. She didn't want to give up but every path she could take was blocked. There was no other way to survive this and live.
She was going to die here once the monster finished chewing the bottom half of her body. It will come for the top half soon.
She wasn't able to see the end of this apocalytic game. It was really a pity. She couldn't get to the end of it all.
She still remained a puppet under the control of the apocalypse system. She had many questions that was going to remain unresolved.
Her erratic mind focused on one person. Although the time they saw each other was years ago, she still remembered him. His bright smile was as clear as day in her mind and thoughts.
In her original world, this man did little acts of kindness to Roxie. This kindness stuck with her.
She hadn't seen him since her original world was destroyed so she wasn't able to pay him back.
He was the only ray of light in the dark cloud of her mind. She had met a lot of people over the years. Some were indigenes of the apocalytic worlds she came to and some were players.
She hadn't seen anyone that would help people purely without having an underlying condition or ulterior motives like that man did.
Finally, her time came.
The monster swallowed before turning its huge red eyes to her. There was mild satisfaction in its eyes. Roxie wanted to roll her eyes. The monster was obviously satisfied with her body.
She had gotten into this situation because she liked to act alone. Roxie didn't regret it.
She had done her best.
Going through these apocalyptic worlds with people would bring betrayal, schemes and many more. Her experience with the former roommate in her original world was enough to teach her the paths to tread.
If she could do everything again, she would still act the same. Although she wouldn't be as closed off as she was in this present life, she would still be a one man army.
The monster's maws opened up.
The decaying smell from the monster's mouth was overwhelming.
Roxie wanted to dodge and get away from the smell. Alas, it was impossible.
Her arms were broken and she couldn't use anything from her little space. All the weapons had been consumed. She was done for.
The monster bit down again.
This time, the huge mouth closed around her head to her hips.
As the sharp teeth of the monster penetrated her head, her fuzzy consciousness sank into darkness.
She thought something was going to happen. She thought she would be on her way to the afterlife where she would get judged for her life experiences.
Things didn't happen like she had guessed. Darkness still surrounded her. She didn't know how much time had passed before a gentle feeling surrounded her.
Roxie felt at ease. She didn't know how it felt to be a growing fetus in a woman's stomach but it might be pretty similar to the way she was feeling right now.
A bright dot appeared in front of her. The dot started getting bigger and brighter. The speed of the dot's growth was fast. Before she could react, it had already grown to the same magnitude as the sun.
Roxie had to close her eyes to protect them from the blinding energy.
After an unknown amount of time flew by, she felt like the intensity of the light had weakened.
Her eyes blinked open.
She wasn't in the dark space anymore. There was no bright dot or light.
The place she was standing in was strangely familiar. It felt like she had seen this place before.
Then, the memories related to this place came to her. This was Earth.
There was a bustling scene around her.
"Roxie, are you going to admit your mistake or are you going to keep this stubborn attitude? You plagiarize a close friend of yours but you have no remorse at all. Is this the kind of upbringing you have?" A sharp voice screamed.
Roxie remembered this incident. It was one of the clearest pieces of memories she had.
At this point in time, Roxie was still in the university. She had gone to a design academy. This academy focused solely on jewelry designs.
All the students in the fourth and final year of studying was required to present an original and exquisite design as one of the numerous projects they had to complete to graduate.
The final year students would have to defend this project in front of a panel of judges. The explanations about the design must be clear and interesting.
Roxie had spent countless days honing her design. That design was created with her blood and sweat.
Gloria Estefan, her best friend and roommate, did something that was unimaginable.
She used Roxie's low vigilance against her for her good. Gloria stole Roxie's design and presented it to the panel of Judges before Roxie was able to do her presentation.
Fate worked in Gloria's favor.
She was number 5th in queue. Roxie's number card was 10.
These arrangement ensured that Roxie's claims of truth wouldn't be believed.
Gloria presented the project before she could do do after all.
It felt like fate was helping Gloria.
Roxie's eyes darkened as her eyelids dropped to the halfway point. This wasn't all the evil Gloria at done.
To think that she regarded this evil snake as a person close to her heart.
Unfortunately, the heart of humans wasn't something that can be seen through. Everything was unpredictable.
A person that had supported her a few minutes ago might stab her in the back a few minutes later. Everything was changing and it was hard to trust anybody.
Gloria had hooked up with Roxie's boyfriend too.
Roxie left hand clenched into a fist. She didn't know how she failed to notice the obvious signs.
She had been too naive. Now, she was back. God had given her a chance to rewrite everything. Although, there wasn't time to really do any huge thing.
She would not put this lowly and evil people in her eyes. She would pay them back soon. She had better things to do.
The end of this world was going to descend very soon. She didn't want to jeopardize her future because of some riffraff.
If her memory served her correctly, the world will end in two days. Many humans on earth thought the world would end through the depletion of natural resources that Earth couldn't replenish anymore.
Other humans had many theories too.
Those humans had been thinking too simply.
Huge asteroids would appear above the earth soon.
When these asteroids landed on earth, it destroyed everything.
Before everything was totally annihilated, some people encountered a strange phenomenon. A being called the apocalypse system appeared.
It offered each person the chance to either die here or leave by going through numerous apocalyptic worlds.
Anyone with a working brain would know what to choose. Those two options had involvements with death. The only fortunate thing in binding with the system is that a player's death could be delayed as long as they have the strength.
Roxie chose to be a player that would be bound to the system.
She didn't have any family. She was an orphan. She didn't have things she couldn't let go of. All through her lifetime, there wasn't anything to die for.
It was a pity that Gloria and Roxie's cheating boyfriend, Nelson was selected to be players as well.
Roxie wasn't able to meet them till she died in another apocalyptic world. Now, she wanted to do things differently.
She wanted to make preparations. Although 2 days might not seem like a long time, it will do wonders for newbies.
Roxie desperately needed this headstart and she was going to deal with Gloria and Nelson later.
The first thing on her agenda is to stock up on supplies. The numerous worlds she was going to travel to with the system had one thing in common with Earth, these worlds would all go through an apocalyptic event.
The only difference was the fact that Earth would not survive this apocalypse.
The little space that accompanied her through her journey was created by the necklace on her neck. This necklace wasn't something fancy.
It was a pebble with a tiny hole at the top. A faded brown rope passed through the tiny hole at the top of the pebble.
If it was some kind of fancy jewelry or item, the orphanage director or the caretakers would have stolen it away. Roxie was thankful for the necklace's inconspicuous appearance.
It saved her a lot of trouble. The reason she was able to discover the space was because of a life and death battle she was having in a mutation world.
Her blood splashed on the necklace. Then, it started to glow.
After that, her mind was connected to a space and the necklace disappeared.
She wasn't going to check her space while she was surrounded by people with unknown intentions. It was better to leave first.
Roxie didn't care about the jewelry design Gloria stole anymore. In the face of life and death, dispensable things like jewelries or jewelry designs are inconspicuous.
Gloria can chew and swallow the design for all she cared. She would take everything her former best friend took later. This was the time to prepare.
Roxie didn't reply to the sharp voice coming from the girl beside Gloria.
Gloria had beautiful black hair and eyes. She was good at what she does. Roxie can't think of a reason why Gloria opted for stealing her designs.
She stopped thinking about it.
She ignored the disapproving gazes from the panel of judges a few meters away.
Gloria hadn't been in this hall before. The judges noticed the similarities between the two designs so Gloria was called here.
In the end, everything pointed in Gloria's favor.
Roxie turned around to leave.
There was so many preparations to do and so little time.
