After Roxie had gotten her fill, she stopped touching the creature.
The little wings at the back of the space creature started to flap as Roxie released her hold.
Roxie's eyes scanned the space around her before turning to the creature.
"Why is the space like this?" Roxie asked.
"I am glad you asked." The cute space creature replied, "I don't know how everything became like this too. I have a few pieces of information to share though."
Roxie raised a brow, "Which information? Let us put that aside for a few seconds. I have to give you a name."
Roxie rubbed the center of her brows. It was tiring to constantly refer to the space being as a creature every time.
The purple eyes of the creature brightened.
Roxie wracked her brain to think of a suitable name. She had a bad naming sense but there was no one to count on now. She had to undertake this responsibility herself.
"I think I would name you pixie." Roxie said.
"Thank you. I love it." Pixie said with intense joy.
The joy coming from Pixie was infectious. Roxie's lips hooked up into a smile.
"Alright, let me continue from where I stopped." Pixie said, "When you died in your past life, a stream of power came out of nowhere. This power wrapped around your soul."
"What happened next?" The smile on Roxie's lips faded.
Nothing in this world and universe was free. Something would always be the cost for other things.
She didn't have any valuable thing to offer to the being behind this unknown power
"That power felt like something that came from a saint or deity. It was powerful." There was a look of wonder on Pixie's face, "This power was the catalyst that caused your rebirth. The residual power remaining after your rebirth was successful merged with this space and it became like this. I was able to gain intelligence and this space would be able to house life and everything else."
Roxie didn't know the being that saved her and she didn't know why that unknown stranger helped her.
Everything was confusing. Roxie shook her head. She didn't want to think about this matter now.
She was running on limited time. It was time to make preparations that would make her future better. She would think of these things later.
"How do I get out of the space?" Roxie stared at Pixie.
"You just have to think about going out and you will find yourself outside." Pixie responded.
"That's good." Roxie nodded in appreciation.
She was thankful for this grace. When she found out that she had been reborn, she had only put her tiny space into consideration.
Now, things were different in a pleasant way. Her fingers will be able to reach into paths and areas that was unreachable for her before.
She would be able to secure her future in a foolproof way.
"I almost forgot. There are tasks for you to do, Roxie. These tasks would ensure that I get enough energy to advance." Pixie explained.
"Which tasks are you talking about?" Roxie questioned.
"When that strange energy upgraded the space, a path and method that would make this space better formed in my mind. I can get energy from everywhere. Absorbing energy without your help would be a slow and passive route. As long as you keep using the space, more benefits would be unlocked." Pixie explained.
"Okay. I am ready. Which task am I going to do first?" Roxie asked.
She hoped it would be something like planting crops in the fertile soil that filled this space. She was willing to hoard resources too.
Even if the task Pixie wanted to assign to her had nothing to do with planting or stockpiling supplies, she would still go ahead to do so anyway. A person can never be too careful in the apocalypse.
"The first task is to acquire 30 different seeds and get four breeds of domestic livestock. There would be an unknown reward waiting for you when you accomplish the task. You can check the status of your task and the rewards using the system board. Pixie said, "To access the system board, you just have to think of it."
"Thank you. I would make sure I complete the task soon." Roxie said with a smile.
Fortunately, the task Pixie gave her aligned with her interest.
She started to imagine how the outside world looked kike. She focused on her desire to leave.
The space around her twisted before straightening up again.
When everything was back to normal, she wasn't in the space anymore.
She was in the exact position she had disappeared from. The alley still had a few people moving around.
Her position was partially hidden so the people around didn't see her disappearing act.
She didn't want to raise alarm.
She would not be able to shop to her satisfaction without borrowing money.
Roxie didn't have any qualms with doing so though. In two days, physical money was just going to become a piece of toilet paper and its electronic counterpart would just be a string of useless numbers.
The world would become a place that only the strongest survive in.
There were numerous loan apps, website and companies everywhere. Some of these loan companies were actually loan sharks with high interest rate.
Roxie wouldn't care about this little detail.
Those high interest rates would become things if the past soon.
She borrowed from everyone she could. Her fingers kept tapping on her phone screen as she kept looking for more companies to borrow from.
Fortunately, she had pictures of her ID card, her birth certificate and other important documents on her phone.
Borrowing money became the easiest task.
Money poured into her bank account like water. It was unstoppable.
She started moving away from the alley. Her fingers were still typing on the screen.
Roxie was looking for wholesalers and farmers. Things would be cheaper if she bought goods from them.
The Earth had entered into a technology age. Finding things like wholesalers or farmers was easier than ever.
Most people put whatever they are selling or whatever service they are offering on the internet in a bid to get more customers.
This worked in Roxie's favor.
She composed a message and sent it to the four farmers and wholesalers she had settled on.
She wanted to compare the prices of the four sellers before buying from one farmer and one wholesaler.
"You are so arrogant." A gruff voice sneered.
The voice was irritating to the ears.
After being baptized by various apocalyptic worlds, meddling in someone's business wasn't something Roxie indulged in.
Before she was selected to be a player, she liked being kind.
Somehow, the irritating voice she heard made her stop.
She was already closer to her rented apartment. Roxie and Gloria got the apartment together.
Living on campus was restrictive and the two of them wanted to avoid that.
There was another school close to her apartment.
The voice was coming from a corner near that college
Everything was pointing to bullying.
Roxie walked closer.
She turned the corner and saw an awful scene.
Five men were surrounding a single guy. The guy was slender with black hair and deep black eyes.
His face was familiar.
Then, it clicked.
Roxie's mouth was about to drop open in shock.
The man that was in the middle of the bullies' encirclement was the savior from her past life. He was the man she had wanted to meet so badly.
What a coincidence.
