Chapter 6 - Shopping

Roxie didn't have the time to go to the countryside for cheaper goods and the sellers she contacted were not staying in places close to her school.

She thought she would have enough time to hop on a bus and go to those sellers' locations. Things were changing now.

She had to get whatever she needed around. The things she wanted to buy would be ridiculously expensive here but she must bear with it. There was no other choice.

There were some things she still had to get from her apartment too. She didn't know if Gloria would dump her clothes and other belongings outside the door like she did in Roxie's past life.

Everything was just guesses now. A memory needs careful scrutiny before Roxie can use it as a reference.

Thankfully, there was a huge supermarket near this area. A few supermarkets and malls sell growable seeds directly.

Because of her status as a poor college student, she didn't visit this supermarket.

There was a smaller market around this supermarket. This smaller market was the one students and those with lower disposable incomes visit. It was basically like savior to Roxie and the others.

Roxie would visit that smaller market later. She just wanted to grab whatever she could from the biggest supermarket around first.

The supermarket was within walking distance. Roxie ran in the direction of the supermarket.

Things were going out of control and Roxie hated it when everything spiraled out of control like this.

The panic and other negative emotions wasn't what she wanted to experience.

Finally, she got to the supermarket.

She put her two hands on her knees as she breathed heavily. Although her body seemed to have been advanced by the space she got, running at full speed with no regards for anything took its toll on her body.

After everything was back to normal, Roxie dashed into the supermarket. The moment she walked in, the cool air from the air conditioners surrounded her. It was refreshing.

The difference between the interior of the supermarket and the outside world was like heaven and hell.

The perspiration on her face dried up and Roxie walked deeper into the supermarket. The supermarket was a combination of a mall and a market. It was in a very huge building. The building itself, and the decoration that was used was luxurious.

There was numerous baskets near the entrance of the supermarket. Roxie grabbed the largest trolley she could find.

She walked over to the shelf holding the things she wanted.

The first areas she visited were the ones that held food, clothes and other basic necessities.

Food was the first priority in every world she visited. Nobody had ever complained of having too much food. Instead starvation was the norm.

A bad thoughts appeared in Roxie's mind. Those thoughts started to spread its roots everywhere. It was hard to think of something else.

She wanted to take some products and throw them into her space without paying. Still, she curbed that urge.

She needed to touch the surface of anything before she would be able to send it into the space. Even if she put the moral code aside, for a big supermarket and mall like this one, there would be CCTV cameras everywhere.

Roxie didn't want to be arrested or given to the government when the end of this world was at hand.

There was no way she would be able to explain how things disappeared into nothingness after she touched it to the security of this supermarket.

The devil was a liar.

She will stick to her original plan.

Roxie stuffed her trolley with numerous things.

Some of the things she bought couldn't fit into the trolley. She carried some of the products she bought.

She bought almost everything she laid her eyes on. The only thing left was seeds. She didn't know where that section was.

One supermarket staff was near her position.

"Hello, Miss. I need some help." Roxie called.

An indecipherable look of disdain was hidden in the female staff's eyes. She tried her best to hide it though.

The eyes of the female staff scanned everything Roxie was getting from the supermarket.

Roxie didn't mind the fact that this female staff seemed to look down on her. She didn't want to argue with a person that might die soon.

Even if the female staff ended up as a player, that was still none of Roxie's concern.

Besides, this female staff's disdain would increase after she finds out that Roxie was going to take most of what she bought on credit.

"Please, can you show me where the seeds are? I would like to take the smallest measurement for all the types of seeds this supermarket has." Roxie said her request concisely.

"Alright. You seem to be having a hard time moving around with all these things you have with you. I would get the seeds for you." The staff said.

Roxie waited patiently. After an unknown amount of time passed by, the female staff came back. She had a smaller basket with her. Numerous pockets of seeds were in the basket.

"Here it is." She said before handing the small basket to Roxie.

Roxie bought many things. Her purchases ranged from clothes that could be worn in all kind of seasons to food and handy machines.

She dragged herself to the counter.

The lady behind the counter scanned Roxie's purchases with her eyes. There was a flash of surprise in our pupils.

She didn't say anything that was out of line though.

The lady behind the counter scanned everything Roxie brought through the machine.

After she was done, she looked up.

"Your total price is $30,000. How do you want to pay? Is it through cash or card? Transfer is acceptable too." She said.

Thankfully, Roxie's card was always at the back of her phone pouch. She removed the pouch and took the card.

Roxie handed the card to the lady behind the counter.

"Miss, before you scan the card, I want to say something. So, I don't have enough money for all this purchases with me right now but, I am expecting money a few hours later. The latest time would be by tomorrow morning. I would like to pay a down payment. I would also drop the necessary identification and information so I can pay the rest of the money later. Do your supermarket accept something like this?" Roxie said.

"Don't worry, our supermarket accept something like this. Your place of residence must be somewhere close though. The necessary identifications are on this list." The lady behind the counter moved a paper that was near her hand towards Roxie.

Roxie glanced at the necessary identifications she had to provide.

She looked up, "Do you guys have a printing machine? I have the photos of my documents here. I don't really have the physical copies. A security guard can follow me to my apartment to get the original copies too. I live close by."

"You can print your documents first. A security guide will still follow you to your house though. This is the printing machine." The lady behind the counter said.

She pointed at a machine near her.

Roxie acted promptly.

She walked over to the machine and started to print the pictures she had on her phone.

On the other hand, the lady behind the counter used the point of sale machine to withdraw $15,000 from the card Roxie gave her.

Within minutes, Roxie was done. The lady that was attending to her was done too. She had packed everything Roxie bought into big bags.

The bags the goods were in was easier to move around and it would not be an hassle for Roxie to carry.

A security guard was standing beside the packed bags. He arrived a few minutes after Roxie started printing her documents.

"Miss Roxie, Zach would help you with the things you bought. He would follow you to your home." The lady behind the counter said.

Roxie nodded.

Although the plan to pay a visit to the numerous shops and market around would be temporarily shelved, she was still happy.

She would use this opportunity to get everything she needed from the apartment. She hoped Gloria had not changed the lock yet.
