The darkness Roxie was seeing started to clear up. After the darkness disappeared, Roxie looked around. She was in a room.
The room was rundown. It was those kind of apartment that cannot be truly clean no matter the times spent on it. Time had weakened the materials used in building the apartment.
Roxie was sitting on the bed. She didn't make any moves.
[Hello player, welcome to your first world. This world is classified as a level E world. It is the weakest level for apocalyptic worlds.] The system explained.
Roxie had heard similar instructions before. She didn't make any move to interrupt the system though. She listened carefully.
Truly, this was her second life but many things might have changed. It was better to be safe than sorry.
She nodded to show the system that she was listening.
[There are other players in this world. This world is going to encounter its apocalypse soon. Your mission is very simple, you have to stop the apocalypse. I am not telling you to stop the onset of the apocalypse, you can't stop something like that anyway. Thing I need you to do is for you to heal the damage the apocalypse would cause and try to bring everything back to normal. There are players with similar missions in this world too.]
She didn't know what this apocalypse world look like. In her past life, her first apocalyptic world was a world that was suffering from a zombie apocalypse. It was a level E world too.
Since it was a low-level zombie world, the solution wasn't too hard to implement. Discovering the antidote to the widespread virus was still hard but it was achievable.
She hoped this world was not going to have some kind of crazy apocalypse.
[To give newbies an headstart, the onset of the apocalypse would happen 1 hour later. An hint would be given too. The cause of the apocalypse of this world is an acid rain. There is a system mall. If you need anything, I can guarantee that it would be available. The price might be something else though. If you have any other questions, send them my way.]
After saying the last word, the system became quiet.
She didn't know her identity in this world. This was one of the mysteries of the apocalyptic system. She didn't know how it generates backstories for a player's body in a new world.
Nobody knows if the bodies the players possessed in these new worlds are clones or some kind of parallel self.
Everything was confusing. Still, this was not something to think about now.
She had to make quick preparations before the acid rain fell. Her first world was child play compared to an acid rain. The sky covered everywhere so the danger of an acid rain was very high.
She ran out of the house quickly. Then, she came back in. The memories in Roxie's head was a little bit blurry. It was obvious that her situation was not ideal. From her memories, the Roxie in this world was an orphan like her. She was as broke as Roxie too.
The name of this body she possessed was Roxie Munoz too.
Thankfully, she could still gain the transaction pin and other passwords from her current body's memory.
Roxie tried to repeat what she did in her original world. She sat back down on the bed and grabbed the phone that was on the bed. She started operating the old phone in her hands.
She quickly searched for loan apps and websites online. After seeing the ones she was satisfied with, she started borrowing. Money started flowing into her account.
The technology level of this world was similar to the one in her original world.
Since it was an acid rain, equipments that would keep liquid and acidic things away was the target.
Besides, she had to find a base or a shelter to stay. Finding the solution to an acid rain apocalypse was not going to be done in a day or two.
Her current body was working at a fast food restaurant as a part-time worker. It was impossible to get high quality equipment that would be able to resist acid very well using her current identity.
The only things she would be able to get were the equipments, tools and materials that didn't need any professional confirmation of her field of work.
Those things include safety googles, work gloves, standard rubber boots, basic suits, simple respirators, rain gear and basic protective overalls.
She needed to visit the places she would get all these things physically. Nobody knows if the stores selling these equipments would accept online orders.
Even if they accept online orders, she can wait for them to bring the things she bought to her doorstep. She was already running out of time. The time she was working with was not enough for things like that.
If she wanted to get any high quality equipment or materials, she had to wait until the apocalypse happened or buy it from the system mall.
Unfortunately, Roxie didn't have any points that could be used to get things from the system mall. That path was temporarily blocked.
Roxie searched the old house for her identification papers and any other things she might need. Once she was done, she left the room. She came out of the house.
The apartment she was living in was part of a huge building. Apartments similar to the one she was living in filled the building. It was a residential building. It was a gated community.
There was peeling paint on the walls of the building. The outside appearance of the building was very old.
Grey clouds started to gather overhead. It looked like there was going to be heavy downpour. People were moving about. Some had umbrellas in their hands.
Roxie didn't know if the umbrellas these people were holding could resist the acidity in the rain.
An ordinary umbrella is not likely to resist acid, but some umbrellas made with special materials would be more resistant to chemicals than others.
Umbrellas made with polyester would be able to resist chemical damage to an extent. It would stand a chance against stretching, shrinking, abrasions, and wrinkling too.
Her current body had social media accounts. The one hour headstart the system gave her was already ticking away slowly.
Roxie's conscience pricked her. She wanted to do something even if the action might be stupid in the long run.
She started to post about the apocalypse that would happen soon.
The beginning of the apocalypse wasn't the end of everything so she didn't reveal the fact that she knew an acid rain was going to fall soon. She worded her post like a conspiracy theorist.
Posts like these weren't a new thing.
She used money to boost the post so it would get to more people. After that, it was out of her hands. Each person's survival was up to fate.
She quickly searched for the stores that would sell the things she needed.
Fortunately, food wasn't an issue to worry about right now. She was very thankful that she stocked up on food in her original world. The one hour the system gave her wasn't enough to get food and the necessities she got on earth. Now, the only thing she would be able to get are some protective gears.
She would not be able to shop to her satisfaction too.
After getting the location of the nearest store, Roxie rushed towards her new destination.
