"I am sure your daughter's cries of pain would be very similar to yours. Actually, it is very bad to compare you two. You are scum." Roxie spat.
The woman's pleas stopped for a moment. Her eyes widened again. She looked at Roxie with more horror and fear in her eyes.
"You saw me." She said in despair.
The woman didn't elaborate but both of them knew what she was talking about.
"Yes, I did." Roxie said.
A wail came out of the woman's throat. The despair coming from her body was tangible.
Roxie dragged her closer to the crash site. Once she was in a suitable range, the woman's slow punishment started.
The rain started to fall on the woman's face. Her skin made sizzling sounds as the acid rain touched her.
Deafening screams came out of the woman's lips.
Roxie didn't stop. The woman didn't stop screaming either. The hair on the woman's head began to fall away in clumps.
Some of the hair was curled up and dark. It felt like it was burnt with a naked flame.
Numerous holes was on the woman's skin.
The woman closed her eyes to protect them from early damage. That action was like a nail on her coffin. The rain touched her closed eyelids and it sealed them forever.
The acid destroyed all the flesh on the woman's head and it started to move towards her skull.
Her breaths started to weaken.
After an unknown amount of time, the punishment ended.
There was barely any breath left in the woman's body.
The screams disturbing the atmosphere of the whole store disappeared entirely. The sounds of the acid rain touching other surfaces took its place.
Roxie left the woman at the crash site. It was the woman's handiwork after all. It was befitting to spend her last moments there.
It was time to leave.
The store could not be used as a base when it wasn't destroyed. With the store's current appearance, staying here was just courting death.
She walked into the depths of the store and cleared 80% of the total materials and seeds in the store.
She didn't make her zero dollar purchase obvious.
She wasn't trying to be a saint. She just wanted to keep her space a secret for a longer time period.
Once she was done, she walked towards the entrance.
Roxie stared at the world outside the store. The rain did not show any signs of stopping.
She knew things would not really continue like this. If it did, this world will not be called a level E world.
The difficulty would be around A, S or above then. Although Roxie had never been to a level A or level S world, she thinks the difficulty should be around that hypothetical level.
Since this was a level E world, the acid rain has to stop sometime. Although the system gave one hour headstart for the newbie players, there wasn't much things the players could do in that time frame.
She did not even know if this world had superpowers.
She hadn't been to a world without superpowers before but she had heard of rumors.
Some players said there were worlds that banned the use of supernatural powers. Only things that didn't surpass the limit of human body in any way were accepted by those worlds.
Someone rushed into the rain. It was a shocking sight. Most people would run away from the acid rain instead of seeking their death.
Somehow, Roxie felt like this death seeking individual was a player.
Her guess was spot on. Although the man was directly under the acid rain, he was not destroyed like the people before him.
When the acid rain touched him, his body started to bleed and wounds appeared on his body.
That situation didn't go on though. After a while, his skin started to recover bit by bit.
This world really allowed superpower.
[Ding! Player Roxie, there are specific superpowers this world accepts. Any superpower from the system mall that doesn't fit this world would not be activated. Play wisely.]
Roxie twitched her lips.
She didn't know why the system was giving her a friendly warning.
She did not even have the points that a basic weapon from the system mall required for purchase in the first place. Trying to buy superpowers was out of her reach for now.
'Understood.' Roxie replied.
The system didn't say any other thing. It went back to its silent mode.
Suddenly, the adopted son of the owner of this store walked out of the establishment. His steps were confident and his arms were still folded across his chest.
He walked into the rain like a lunatic.
The previous player walked away from the rain. His superpower might be accelerated healing.
Nobody really knows the nature of the superpower he got.
His ability would get him a high position. He would be able to survive in this apocalypse for a while. Besides, nobody knows if having a superpower was a common thing.
If demand is greater than supply, this new super player would be an hot commodity in this world.
As the player walked away, rain continued to fall on him.
He still received damage.
Although his skin healed back to its original condition every time he was injured, his clenched teeth made Roxie know that his pain was not reduced or numbed because of his new superpower.
This player still felt pain like a normal human being.
The actions the son of the owner of this store did confirmed Roxie's guesses. This man must be a player. Her eyes narrowed.
To Roxie, players was synonymous with trouble.
Besides, there was a higher chance that this man had been in this world before the system even gave that tiny time as an headstart.
That man was dangerous.
She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She promised herself something. She didn't want to clump all players in one bad box in this lifetime. It was time to start acting her words out.
She watched the other confirmed player in the rain. After the rain fell on the store owner's adopted son, it caused injury.
After a while, a thin membrane formed around the store owner's adopted son. His light injuries didn't heal like the first player's wounds. The man smiled confidently. He looked like a proud male peacock. He was behaving as if his new superpower was already a done deal.
Roxie frowned. Things were unpredictable.
She wasn't willing to give up on a chance of getting a superpower though.
Players might have a higher chance of getting supernatural powers. If she didn't try, she was going to regret it extremely.
She was going to stay in this world for a while, it was better to look for ways to make her stay more adaptable and comfortable.
Since she had already settled on a decision, she did not dally around. She opened her umbrella and held it above her head. Roxie's legs moved and she walked out of the store.
She didn't go too far.
She stopped a few distances away from the store. She dropped her umbrella.
She closed her eyes as she waited for the inevitable to come.
