After a few minutes, the three of them reconvened in the living room. Roxie looked at Ambrose and Kai.
"Did you guys find anything?" Roxie questioned.
Kai shook his head.
Ambrose replied, "No. The house is clean."
Roxy heaved a sigh of relief. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with the house. She would be able to stay here with the other members of her group peacefully.
"Great." Roxie smiled.
"I am very hungry. The owner of this house should not be offended that we are ransacking her house. She is making sacrifices for the greater good." Kai said.
He went straight towards the huge fridge in the kitchen.
He opened the fridge and poked his head in.
"Foodie." Roxie smiled.
"I am owning up to that name." Kai replied, "Wow! This lady has plenty foodstuffs. It seems she just visited the market before all these things happened."
"How many rooms are in this house?" Roxie asked.
Each person was in charge of a separate direction so she wasn't really sure about the number of bedrooms this house had.
"The bedrooms are three in total. That first bedroom we accessed the house through is the biggest. It probably belongs to the owner of the house." Ambrose explained.
"That's lovely. Each person can have a room to themselves. I am going to take one of the smaller rooms." Roxie said in a hurry.
She was really tired of the wounds on her skin and she wanted to go into the space to finalize some things.
"I will take the main bedroom." Ambrose said.
Kai was still busy looking through the fridge. He didn't add to the conversation.
Roxie started to walk towards her chosen room. She didn't know where the room was exactly.
She was willing to find out herself though. She didn't want to stress Ambrose and Kai.
Roxie used the opportunity to survey the house herself. It was not like she didn't trust Ambrose or Kai. She just wanted to have a preliminary impression of where she was staying in case of emergencies.
It was better to be safe than sorry.
Besides, being cautious was an habit she had to learn after binding to the apocalypse system.
Finally, she saw the two smaller rooms Ambrose talked about. She picked one of them and walked in. Roxie closed the door behind her before heaving a sigh of relief.
Finally, she was all alone.
Roxie imagined herself being in the space. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes.
She was back in the space.
Something soft collided with her face. Her hands rose up to cup the ball that was sticking to her face. It was Pixie.
The two eyes on Pixie's body was staring at her with adoration.
'Where have you been? I missed you.' Pixie's cute voice said.
Roxie's lips curved upwards unconsciously.
She missed this little ball of sunshine too.
Pixie was the kind of being that she could love freely without being suspicious and paranoid.
The possibility of Pixie betraying her was very low.
She landed a kiss on Pixie's body before releasing it.
Roxy looked around. The space wasn't as cluttered as she had imagined it would be. All the things she threw into the space was gathered in one corner of the space. Pixie didn't arrange it.
Pixie followed her gaze to the pile of items.
'I don't know where you want to put it and I don't know what your procedure would be so I just left it alone.' Pixie explained.
Roxie nodded. She was satisfied because Pixie didn't arrange it.
She would do it herself. It would make it easier to remember where things were in the future.
Roxie summoned the system board. There were numerous buttons and columns on the system board.
She didn't try to scan the other categories on the system board. She went straight to the tab that said task.
Under the task column, there was only one item.
This was the task Pixie gave her on Earth.
The task was not completed yet. The reward for this specific task was still unknown. There was a tiny bar under the task. The bar was at the midpoint. It showed that Roxy was 50% done with her task.
Then, it dawned on Roxie. She had forgotten something. She had not accomplished the task yet. Roxie thought she was done with the task.
The little time she spent in the previous world was not enough. She didn't have a chance to get livestock so her task was still ongoing.
It was a painful realization.
Roxie rubbed the center of her brows. There was no need to keep beating herself up. Once she got out now, she would try her best to secure four different breeds of livestock like the task stipulated.
Now, she wants to heal the unsightly wounds on her body and arrange some of the items she brought.
Roxie walked straight to the well. There was a pail connected to the well. She drew water.
The first thing Roxy did after scooping a pail of water was to drink it. The refreshing taste of spring water cascaded down her throat.
Instantly, she felt refreshed.
She wanted to have a bath.
Her body was uncomfortable.
Roxie drank more water.
Suddenly, her skin started to become itchy. She looked downwards to see her wounds closing up bit by bit.
Roxie wasn't very surprised. She knew the water in this upgraded space would not be an ordinary one. Even if the water didn't heal her wounds completely, it would accelerate the healing of her injuries.
She had not explored the house in the space yet.
The things she had to do started to becoming overwhelming somehow.
Roxie walked towards the house.
She would check the house out first.
After that, she would take her bath. Her last task would be to arrange some of the items laying in one of the corners in the space.
She twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open.
