Chapter 10 - THE MYSTERIOUS ENCOUNTER

Evan sat in the hospital room, his mind racing with thoughts as the doctor performed the routine check-up. Adison, standing by the side, looked anxious. "Doctor, how's her memory recovery progressing?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.

The doctor shook his head, offering a sympathetic smile. "I'm afraid it's going to take some time. It's important to be patient. Try to help Sara remember by showing her childhood pictures and sharing stories about her past experiences. It could be beneficial."

Adison nodded, clearly disheartened by the news. "We'll do our best, Doctor. Thank you."

Once the check-up was completed, Evan and Adison stepped out of the doctor's cabin. Jaxon was waiting in the corridor, his presence immediately drawing a frown from Adison. "Jaxon," Adison greeted, his tone forced.

"Adison," Jaxon replied with a grin, sensing the tension. Before they could engage in more conversation, the doctor called Adison back in to discuss something privately. Adison excused himself, leaving Evan and Jaxon alone.

Jaxon couldn't help but chuckle. "He's not too thrilled to see me, huh?"

Evan managed a small smile. "Well, you do have a knack for making an entrance."

Jaxon laughed. "Guilty as charged."

Evan looked around nervously before asking, "Are our parents here?"

Jaxon nodded. "Yeah, they're here. Do you want to see them?"

Evan's expression grew somber. "I really want to, but in this situation... it's just uncomfortable."

Jaxon placed a reassuring hand on Evan's shoulder. "Hey, it'll be fine. Just go in and see them. They'll be happy to see you, no matter what."

Evan took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright, let's do it."

As they walked down the hall towards Evan's room, they talked about various topics, trying to lighten the mood. Suddenly, a girl passed by, and Evan caught a whiff of a familiar perfume. He froze, his eyes widening as he tried to catch a glimpse of her face, but she was already gone.

Jaxon noticed Evan's sudden stop and asked, "Why did you stop?"

Evan's heart raced. "I think Yoona was just here. I could smell her perfume."

Jaxon frowned. "I don't think so, Evan. If she were here, I would know."

Evan shook his head, determined. "No, Jaxon. I know that scent. It's Yoona's. I'm sure of it."

Jaxon sighed. "Evan, there are plenty of guards outside your room. I told them to inform me if Yoona showed up. She hasn't."

Evan's eyes filled with frustration. "I'm not lying, Jaxon. I know her better than anyone."

Without another word, Evan broke into a run, desperate to find Yoona. Jaxon followed closely behind, trying to stop him. "Evan, wait!"

They searched everywhere, but there was no sign of Yoona. Evan's shoulders slumped in defeat, feeling a deep sense of despair. Jaxon tried to calm him down. "Evan, she's not here. You didn't see her. It was just... your imagination."

Evan remained silent, feeling a pang of doubt. Perhaps Jaxon was right. Maybe it wasn't Yoona.

Seeing Evan's sadness, Jaxon offered a comforting smile. "I'll keep looking for Yoona, I promise. You'll see her soon."

They made their way back into the hospital, heading towards Evan's room. Jaxon noticed people staring at Evan, then realized it was because Evan was walking in a distinctly masculine way. He stifled a laugh and whispered, "Evan, walk normally."

Evan ignored him, lost in his own thoughts.

Suddenly, Jaxon saw his parents approaching from Evan's room. He quickly informed Evan, "Bro,mom and dad are coming. Behave yourself."

As Jaxon's parents drew closer, they greeted Evan warmly. "Sara, how are you feeling?" Mrs. McMullen asked kindly.

Evan forced a smile. "I'm fine, recovering well."

They expressed their concern about Sara's memory loss. "It's such a shame about your memory. We're praying for your recovery," Mr. McMullen said sympathetically.

Jaxon quickly reassured them. "She'll be fine. It's just a matter of time."

Then Jaxon suddenly asked, "Have you seen Yoona around? Has she visited by any chance?"

Mr. McMullen shook his head. "No, we haven't seen her."

Mrs. McMullen's expression turned stern as she continued. "It's disgraceful. After everything that's happened—the accident, Evan's condition—she hasn't even come to visit. It speaks volumes about her character. Her behavior proves she didn't love my son. She deceived him."

Jaxon glanced at Evan, who looked pale and distressed. Sensing the need to defuse the situation, Jaxon quickly tried to calm his mother. "Mom, let's not jump to conclusions. Dad, can you take her home, please?"

Mr. McMullen nodded and gently guided his wife away. As they left, Adison appeared, looking furious and out of breath. He glared at Jaxon as if ready to explode. "Where have you been, Sara? I was looking for you everywhere."

Evan didn't reply, his emotions already in turmoil. Jaxon attempted to speak, but Adison cut him off. "Let me guess, she was with you and safe, right?"

Jaxon tried again, but Adison interrupted with a fake smile. "Thanks for everything, Jaxon. Sara is done with her check-up, so we'll be leaving now."

Evan looked at Adison, seeing the anger barely concealed behind his words. He wanted to say something, but Jaxon spoke up. "Yes, you should leave."

As Adison and Evan turned to leave, Jaxon called out, "Sara, call me when you get home."

Adison's face twisted in anger, but he didn't say anything. Outside the hospital, Adison suddenly asked, "Is Jaxon coming home today?"

Evan shook his head, avoiding eye contact. "No, he has other things to do."
