Chereads / A BLACK MOON KNIGHT / Chapter 13 - SECRET AND SHADOWS

Chapter 13 - SECRET AND SHADOWS

Evan and Jaxon sat in the hospital room, the weight of their conversation heavy in the air. The confusion and turmoil were evident in both their expressions. They needed answers, and they needed them now.

Evan broke the silence, his voice filled with frustration. "Jaxon, from the moment we met Yoona, she always said she was an orphan. She told us she had no one else. Do you remember that?"

Jaxon nodded, his brows furrowed in confusion. "Yeah, I remember. It was one of the first things she told us. She said she had no family, no one to turn to. That's why we felt so connected to her."

Evan sighed deeply, trying to make sense of it all. "And you specifically asked her about her family in the past. She always said she was alone. So how could she suddenly have a brother? And not just any brother, but Adison?"

Jaxon shook his head, trying to wrap his mind around the revelation. "I don't know, Evan. It doesn't make any sense. If she had a brother all along, why would she hide it from us? Why didn't she tell us?"

Evan's voice was tinged with confusion and hurt. "What reason could she have for hiding something like that? We've shared so much with each other. Why keep this a secret?"

Jaxon leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. "There's something fishy about this whole situation. I can't shake the feeling that we're missing something important."

Evan shook his head, a bit more hopeful. "There must be a reason, Jaxon. Yoona wouldn't just keep something like this from us without a good reason. I believe there's more to the story."

Jaxon frowned, his suspicion growing. "I hope you're right, Evan. But we need to be careful. We can't just take everything at face value."

Evan nodded, understanding Jaxon's concern. "You're right. We need to get the full story from Adison."

Jaxon thought for a moment, his expression troubled. "I don't think that's a good idea. Something about this doesn't feel right."

Evan looked at him, puzzled. "Then what do we do? How will we know what's happening?"

Jaxon leaned forward, his voice low and serious. "We shouldn't tell anyone what we're thinking. We need to find out the truth on our own. I'm suspicious about them, Evan. Yoona suddenly has a brother, and even though she's been here all this time, she never visited you in the hospital. And now, she suddenly shows up at Sara's house."

Evan listened, a sense of unease growing inside him. "So you think we should investigate without letting them know?"

Jaxon nodded. "Exactly. You need to act like everything's normal. Be careful about your behavior, and don't get emotional when you see Yoona. Remember, you're in Sara's body now. You can't let your emotions control you."

Evan sighed, feeling the weight of the situation. "I understand. I'll be careful. But I still believe there's a reason for all of this."

Jaxon placed a reassuring hand on Evan's shoulder. "I hope you're right. But we need to stay vigilant and find out the truth ourselves. You should try to know more about them, just behave normally. Also, try to learn more about Sara's life, her past, and her relationship with Adison. Find out about Adison and Yoona's childhood, their relationship, and their parents. Look for any clues that might help us understand what's going on."

Evan nodded, taking in Jaxon's advice. "And what about you?"

Jaxon looked determined. "I'll dig into their background. I'll see what I can find out from my end. We need to cover all bases and see if we can piece this together."

As they were talking, the door opened and Adison entered the room. Seeing Evan and Jaxon together didn't seem to make him happy. His expression was serious as he spoke.

"Sara, we can go home now. The doctor said you just need rest, and you shouldn't take any pressure," Adison stated in a stern voice.

Evan and Jaxon exchanged a glance. Evan nodded slowly, feeling a mix of relief and unease. "Alright, Adison. Thanks."

Adison glanced at Jaxon, his expression still serious. "Aren't you coming, Jaxon?" he asked, noticing Jaxon hadn't moved.

Jaxon almost forgot Evan wasn't a boy anymore. He quickly composed himself. "Oh, yeah, sure. I'll see you tomorrow, Evan," he said, giving Evan a reassuring smile before turning to leave.

As they were about to exit the room, Adison suddenly asked, "Jaxon, just in a few days, how did you get so close to Sara?"

Jaxon laughed, trying to keep the mood light. "Maybe it's a special connection," he replied with a grin. "I'm glad she's happy."

Adison's expression didn't soften. "I can see that," he said, not sounding pleased. He added under his breath, "More than a special connection."

Jaxon didn't catch the last part. "Did you say something?" he asked, turning back to Adison.

Adison shook his head. "Nothing. Take care," he replied, his tone neutral.

Jaxon nodded and left, feeling a sense of unease. He glanced back at Evan, who seemed lost in thought, and gave him a reassuring nod before walking away.
