Evan and Jaxon sat across from Alex at Luna's Haven, absorbing the mind-boggling information about the Black Moon Night and the soul exchange. The revelation had left them both shaken and determined to find a solution.
"We need to figure out how to reverse this soul exchange," Evan said, his voice filled with urgency.
Alex nodded. "I'll continue my research, but remember, this phenomenon is rare and not well-documented. We'll need to be patient and keep looking for answers."
Jaxon glanced at his watch. "We should get going before Adison realizes we're not at the amusement park."
Just as they were about to leave, the café door swung open, and Adison stormed in, his face red with anger.
"There you are!" Adison shouted, his eyes fixed on Evan. "I knew something was off. You lied to me, Sara!"
Evan felt a wave of panic but tried to stay composed. "Adison, calm down. It's not what you think."
Adison's expression was a mix of rage and betrayal. "Not what I think? You sneaked off with Jaxon and Alex behind my back. What are you hiding from me?"
Jaxon stepped forward, trying to diffuse the situation. "Adison, it's not like that. We just needed some time to talk. Sara's been through a lot."
Adison turned his anger towards Jaxon, raising his voice. "This is all your fault! You've been manipulating Sara, turning her against me. What are you trying to do?"
Jaxon shook his head. "You've got it all wrong, Adison. I'm just here for Sara."
"Here for her? You're just making things worse. Sara used to trust me, and now she's sneaking around behind my back because of you!" Adison shouted.
Evan's mind raced, searching for the right words. "Adison, we needed some privacy."
Adison's anger flared even more. "Privacy? With Jaxon? Why with him? Why is he so close to you? I should be the one you talk to. I'm your boyfriend!"
Evan couldn't take it anymore. The constant accusations, the control, the manipulation—it was too much. He looked Adison straight in the eyes. "Not anymore, Adison. You forget everything. You're suffocating me with your behavior."
Adison's face twisted with a mixture of shock and anger. "What are you saying, Sara?"
Evan's voice was firm and resolute. "I'm saying I can't take this anymore. Your constant control and manipulation are too much. I need space, and I need to figure things out on my own."
Adison's anger slowly subsided as he tried to calm himself. He took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm sorry, Sara. I didn't mean to upset you."
Evan didn't say anything. He turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Adison standing there.
Adison watched Evan leave, then turned his gaze to Jaxon. His eyes still held a hint of anger. "We need to talk," he said curtly.
Jaxon nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Alright, let's talk."
Once Evan was out of earshot, Adison turned to Jaxon with a stern expression. "I understand your intentions, Jaxon. You're trying to come between me and Sara."
Jaxon crossed his arms, his voice steady. "You've got it all wrong, Adison. I'm not trying to come between you and Sara. I'm just trying to be there for her."
Adison's eyes narrowed. "Be there for her? You're just causing trouble. I see the way you look at her."
Jaxon shook his head. "You're imagining things. Sara and I are just friends."
Adison leaned in closer, his voice lowering to a menacing whisper. "Do you love her, Jaxon?"
Jaxon burst into laughter, unable to hold back. "Love her? Adison, you're delusional. I care about Sara as a friend, nothing more."
Adison's anger flared up again, his fists clenching. "Don't lie to me, Jaxon. I can see through your act."
Jaxon's expression turned serious. "I'm not lying, Adison. I'm here for Sara, and I'll do whatever it takes to help her. But you need to back off and give her space."
Adison's eyes blazed with fury. "You think you can tell me what to do? Sara is my girlfriend, and you have no right to interfere."
Jaxon stood his ground, his voice unwavering. "I'm not interfering, Adison. I'm protecting Sara from your toxic behavior. If you really cared about her, you'd see that."
Adison took a step back, his anger momentarily subdued. "We'll see about that, Jaxon. But mark my words, this isn't over."
With that, Adison turned and walked away, leaving Jaxon standing there. Jaxon took a deep breath, knowing that the confrontation was far from over. He couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of Adison's accusations. How could Adison think he was in love with Evan—his own brother?
At that moment, Carl, the café owner and an old friend of Evan's, walked over and put a hand on Jaxon's shoulder. "That was intense," Carl remarked. "Two men behind one girl, huh?"
Jaxon laughed again, shaking his head. "You have no idea, Carl."
Carl looked confused. "Why are you laughing like that?"
"You're getting it wrong, Carl," Jaxon replied. "I don't like her that way."
Carl raised an eyebrow. "No, you're joking. Such a beautiful girl—how could you not like her?"
Jaxon chuckled. "She's not a girl for me."
Carl's confusion deepened. "What are you talking about?"
Jaxon decided to have a little fun with it. "Let's just say it's more complicated than you think."
Alex, sensing the need to stop the teasing, intervened. "Jaxon, stop it. Carl won't understand. It's a long story."
Carl shrugged. "I've got time to hear it."
Alex and Jaxon exchanged glances. Alex gave a slight nod, signaling Jaxon to go ahead. "He's your brother's best friend. He should know everything," Alex said.
Carl looked concerned. "Is everything okay?"
Jaxon sighed, realizing the gravity of the situation. "It's complicated, Carl. But you deserve to know the truth."
