Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 21: S.H.I.E.L.D

The festival ended as Wallace had to talk to reporters and toast with directors before he finally left with Emilia. They entered Emilia's car, and Emilia was the one driving them.

"How's today?" she asked.

"Great," he answered.

"Do you plan to enter the entertainment industry?" she asked.

"No, I just want to be the writer and investor, and Joss will be the one directing the movie fully," he answered as they traversed the road.

The car passed through an intersection and moved forward.

"Hmm," Wallace frowned as he saw a truck pull up in front of them. Ten men, fully equipped and carrying guns, stepped down from the truck slowly towards his car. A helicopter arrived above their car.

"Mr. Wallace Ace, we're here to bring you in for discussion," he heard a voice say.

"You can follow us, and we will have a good discussion. You can choose to make us use force if you want," the voice said again.

Emilia's face turned pale as she heard that.

"Looks like I have to go," he said with a dark face.

"No, these people are not here to discuss with you. Who knows what they'll do to you in their territory?" she said.

"No problem, I'll call you when I get home," he said as he got down from the car with his hand in his pocket. A man slowly advanced towards him.

"Mr. Wallace, we have to do this as a safe procedure. Stretch your two hands out," he said. His eyes turned terrifyingly cold as the air around him chilled. He removed his hands from his pocket and stretched them out. A white handcuff made its way onto his hand. He immediately felt a strange energy enter his body, but it was suppressed by a mysterious force in his body and absorbed.

The white cuff that was shining red before soon shone green. They gave themselves eye signals. He knew the function of the cuffs; it was to suppress power, but for some reason, it wasn't working on him. He guessed it looked for the source of power in his body, but it looked like he didn't have any source of power. He was confused about the thing in his right heart.

He was led into the van, and the ten men also entered the van. It was dark, and it looked like it was built using soundproof material. His clairvoyance ability was active, as he could see what was happening clearly in the driver's seat.

"His threat level is F. The cuffs were able to fully suppress him," the man who just entered the passenger's seat said to his earpiece.

The driver soon started the vehicle, and it zoomed off. The vehicle drove for close to three hours, passing the outskirts of the city before arriving at a stronghold. But it looked like this was a stronghold controlled solely by an organization. It was built using metals that were even able to block his present clairvoyance ability.

The car parked, and he was brought down. He walked with those people inside the stronghold. It looked just like a normal receptionist office. They entered one of the elevators, but this time, the elevator led them down. His clairvoyance ability was as good as useless here since it couldn't even pass through these metals.

The elevator soon stopped, and he walked into a room where a middle-aged lady was waiting for him. He sat down at the end of the chair.

"Mr. Wallace, welcome," she greeted him.

"We are S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, and we deal with people whose power has surpassed the normal human threshold," she said.

"We decide who leaves here, so it's better you cooperate with us," she threatened him with a smiling face. Wallace just scoffed when he heard that.

"You are from an influential family in Ghana, and it was said that you died once and resurrected, so that's how you gained your power," she said.

"Hmm," he nodded.

"What are the extent of your powers?" she asked.

"I don't know much, but my body stats are just enhanced," he answered.

"Apart from that, what do you have again?" she asked.

"Nothing," he answered.

"Are you from any organization?" she asked.

"Nope," he answered.

"We'll have to do a thorough strength test for you," she said.

"Hmm," he nodded, as he was hoisted up by two guys and taken into a chair that had been enclosed by a glass case.

He was strapped to the chair as a helmet slowly made its way towards his head

"Clamp," the helmet covered his head, and he slowly fell unconscious.

"Run a full-body test," she said.

"Hmm," they all nodded their heads. Very soon, a holographic image of his body was presented on the screen, but surprisingly, there was nothing in his body.

"His body has just been enhanced," the doctor that ran the test said.

"He's useless then," she asked.

"Hmm," the doctor said.

"Just install the safeguarding procedure then, he will become one of our soldiers then," she said.

"Hmm," the researcher nodded.

"Install the safe chip into his brain," he commanded.

"The procedure will commence now," a robotic voice was heard, as a cut was slowly made on Wallace's head.

"Hmm," he woke up when he felt the pain.

"He's awake," the researcher said. "Just continue with the procedure then," the lady said.

"What are you trying to do?" he asked in a chilling voice.

"Mr. Wallace, if you ever want to leave here, you have to cooperate," she said.

"You want to control me," he asked in a cold voice, as he squinted his eyes dangerously.

"We are only making use of you for the greater good," she answered with a smile that was not a smile.

"Bang!" The handcuffs shattered. The metals they were made of were not that strong; it's just the power-sealing function they had that was turning anyone into a normal human, but since it couldn't seal his powers, he just broke it.

"Boom!" There were multiple air explosions cracking the glass, as Wallace stood up from the machine, breaking everything he had been strapped with.

"Boom!" He punched the glass, shattering it.

"His powers should have been sealed already," the lady thought fearfully. Thirty special agents made their way into the hall, as they shot their guns. The bullets arrived in front of Wallace but stopped soon after.

The lady retreated, as she tried to make her way outside, but she saw the metal underneath her feet break down, and sharp spikes formed from the metals, bounding her. The bullets turned back, and the special agents that shot them all fell from the showers of their bullets. Countless tentacles made their way into their bodies from his back, as he absorbed their soul essence. The whole building soon started to turn red.

Wallace walked towards the lady,

"I just want to be on my own; why must all of you come out to court death?" he asked.

"You should all just stay where you are, and our paths won't cross; why must you just court death?" He asked, while sighing helplessly.

"You hid your powers," the lady asked.

"You won't be able to get out from here," she said with certainty.

"Let me see then, if anyone can stop me," he said, as he wrung her neck and walked out of the room into the passageway. Countless bullets flew towards him, but he was able to sense them, as they slowed down when they entered his clairvoyant range. He just stopped and directed it back to the senders, as he put his hands into his pocket, and he continued to walk out, while countless tentacles spread from his back into the dead bodies.

Incessant wailing was heard, as the skulls around him multiplied, and he absorbed the soul essence of those people. By the time he got to the end of the passage, he had already absorbed close to seventy soul essences. The essence gathered around his abdomen region exploded and moved round his body, while his right chest started beating, as it diffused energy round his body.

If he could see his body, he would have been able to see a black ink-like substance moving from his hand towards every part of his body, while there was a blue essence in his stomach, but it was invisible, as it melded into the countless gene chains in his body that arose as a result of his soul merging with his body.

"Bang!" Firecrackers-like sound was heard, as his bones broke and regenerated, while his skin was cut open and regenerated.

He saw a dark ink-like portal slowly open behind him; he felt only two connections in the portal, and those were that of Lucia and Laura. Tentacles slowly spread from his body into the two connections, and he felt as if he had lost something in his body, as from the depth of his gene, cells transformed into dark ink-like energy that poured out from his body, but they quickly regenerated.

Around the same time, Lucia and Laura Carlos (the consigliore) were in the living room, watching a movie. They would be going to Italy tomorrow, so they wanted to try their best and calm their nerves, as that place had been a major turning point in their life. When an invisible portal slowly opened behind each of them, and tentacles spread out into their bodies, they fell down in pain immediately, as they felt immense agony.

Lucia was still okay, as she had experienced it once, but Laura did not experience it, because she was unconscious. They felt every part of their bodies breaking down and regenerating. The immense agony continued for some minutes before it finally stopped, and when it stopped, they lost consciousness immediately.
