Chapter 26 - CHAPTER 26: BEING BULLIED

In the center of the city of Rome, there is a very tall skyscraper. Outside, a design with the name Storm Construction was placed there. That is the number one construction company that has branches in almost fifteen countries around the world. It has developed to its current state just within ten years.

When they started, the CEO of the company was brilliant, and the company rose within two years, but there were rivals that had connections that far outstripped them, so the company fell at its prime again. That's when the Carlos family came in with a huge amount of funds, getting fifty percent of the company shares. The money, along with the collaboration of Maximus Corporation, allowed them to incorporate technology into construction, making them the number one construction company in Italy. The Carlos family brought everything in, including the connection with Maximus, and their rivals dared not do anything again, because even though the family does not have any connection in politics, even the president of the nation feared them. That's the reason the government wanted to fully suppress the family, not giving them a chance to rise up again.

A dark jeep stopped in front of the company, and Laura got out with Antonio behind her. She walked into the building towards the receptionist.

"Please, what can I do for you?" the lady asked.

"I'm Laura Carlos," she said, displeased. How can she not be recognized when her family owns fifty percent of the shares of the company?

The lady took the cellphone on her table and connected to the CEO's office.

"You can enter, ma," she said, as she pointed at the elevator.

Laura and Antonio walked towards the elevator and entered it, going to the topmost floor. The topmost floor is the president's floor, so no worker can enter. It led directly to his office.

It soon stopped, and they got out of the elevator. They saw a man who looked like he was in his sixties, sat at the table with a lady behind him.

"Mrs. Laura Carlos, you're welcome," the man said with a smile, as he pointed at the chair opposite him.

Antonio looked at the man, displeased; the respect he gave to them was just perfunctory.

Laura sat opposite the man calmly.

"I'm sorry about the death of your head; it's so unfortunate," he said with a nonchalant tone.

"Thanks," she said.

"But we already have another head, and I've taken over all the properties under his command," she said.

"Hmm," the man was surprised.

"Who's he?" he asked.

"You don't need to know; all you just need to know is that I've taken charge of everything, including the fifty percent shares of this company. It's not difficult, right? You just have to hold a meeting among the workers and shareholders to let them know," she said.

The man squinted his face dangerously, but he soon reverted it to a smile.

"I want to talk about the issues of the shares; I want to get all the shares from you," the man said.

"I'm not willing to sell the shares," she answered.

"A wise man knows how to submit to situations; I will give you five hundred million dollars for the fifty percent," he said.

"Hmm," Laura squinted her face.

"I'm not selling, and don't you forget that your company was just a hundred million dollar company at that time. We brought a billion dollars to get fifty percent, and not only that, your negotiation with Maximus Corporation only went through because of us, and with our power, you were given ample time to develop. The company is now a ten billion dollar company, and you want to get fifty percent of the shares for five hundred million dollars," she said.

"Are you trying to betray us? Nothing good will come out of betraying the Carlos family," she said with squinted eyes.

"Do you think the Carlos family still exists?" the man questioned her with a smile.

"Whether it exists or not is none of your concern; are you trying to take over all our shares?" he asked.

"I'm being kind to get the shares from you, and you don't know what's good for you," the man said.

"Do you think you can even survive for a week now that you've shown your face?" he asked.

"So, I will take it that you want to take over all our shares, then," she asked, but the man did not answer.

"Let's meet in court, then," she said confidently.

"Do you think you can win any case, or do you think any lawsuit in the country will work with you?" he asked.

"Whether they work with me or not, it's none of your concern," she said, as she stood up and walked towards the elevator.

"If you walk out of that door now, the deal will be canceled. I won't bother to get it again," he said, smiling, but Laura walked out

"Boss, should we just let them leave like that?" she asked.

"Hmm, anyway, they are hot potatoes with the government after them and the three main mafia families, along with countless small mafia organizations, after them," the man said.

"We just have to sit back and see who gets them first," he said.

"What if the one that gets them first won't sell us the shares?" she asked.

"Do you think I will make a move without the consent of the other shareholders? If all of us come together, even the government will have a headache," he said.

"They are not a threat to us," he said.

Laura returned to the office and reported everything to Wallace. Antonio was fuming when he saw that.

"Even ants are now stepping on us," he said.

"Don't worry, we'll soon make them pay," she said.

Wallace slept all the way until afternoon until he was woken up by Lucia.

"It's time for the meeting with the tenants," she said.

"How did the negotiation go?" he asked.

"It didn't go well," Laura answered.

"Well, I already expected that," he said, as he stood up.

"The Ostovos Engineering company, have they contacted you?" Wallace asked Antonio.

"No," he answered.

"But according to how they work, they will be making their move anytime soon," he said.

"Have you directed their attentions towards her?" Wallace asked.

"Hmm, they already know that Consigliore is the owner of the building after I already rejected them on her behalf," he said.

"Hmm," Laura's phone rang, and she picked it up.

"Hello," he said.

"Hello, please, is this Mrs. Laura?" the voice on the other end of the line asked.

"Hmm," she answered.

"I'm from the Ostovos Engineering company, and I'm at the Min's restaurant. Can we meet?" the voice asked.

"Okay," she answered and dropped the phone.

"They want us to meet at the restaurant opposite our building," she said.

"Okay," Wallace closed his eyes.

"Wake me up when it's time for the tenants' meeting," he soon slept.

Laura and Antonio made their way out of the building towards the restaurant. They saw a man with spiky hair sitting at a table in the restaurant. He had rented the whole restaurant.

"Good afternoon," she greeted him.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Laura," the man greeted.

"Let's get to the point. We heard that you are the owner of Maurinez Plaza," he asked.

"Hmm," she answered.

"Quote a price to sell that building to us," the man said.

"I'm not willing to sell the building," she answered.

"Let's not make things difficult for ourselves," the man said.

"We already bought every property on this street except that building, and we can't start our project without getting it. We will be very grateful if you can sell us that building," he said.

"It's not for sale," Laura insisted.

"You're being unnecessarily stubborn," the man said.

"The building will be ours soon, one way or the other. It's just that we want to make this deal advantageous for you," he said.

"If the building will be yours, then just employ your methods, and let's see how you're going to take control of it," she said.

"You won't like it if we make a move," the man threatened.

"I'll be leaving, then," she stood up.

"If you leave, then you're falling out with us," the man threatened.

Laura and Antonio walked out. Antonio was already fuming.

"Even ants are now stepping on us," he said.

"Don't worry, we'll soon make them pay," she said.
