Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28: EVOLUTION AND GUN-FIGHT

Back at the office, just sometime after Wallace left, Laura and Lucia sat in the office doing their own things.

"Why don't we just return to our rooms?" Lucia asked.

"Let's wait for the boss to come back; it won't be too late. I'm worried about it," Laura said.

"What can happen to him? He is very powerful," Lucia said.

"Do you know what happened to the boss?" Laura asked.

"I don't know. Are you falling in love with him?" Lucia asked.

"No, he's too young," Laura answered.

"He still has charisma, even though he's too young," Lucia argued.

"Anyway, what could have happened to turn him that way?" Laura asked.

"What way?" Lucia asked.

"Don't you see his eyes?" Laura asked.

"His eyes are deep, and what's in them is only what elders who have seen the viscitudess of life will see," Laura said.

"Yes, I have a feeling that he had experienced terrible encounters," Lucia said.

Laura nodded.

"What if he wants you to sleep with him?" Laura asked.

"He can't," Lucia said.

"I once tried to seduce him when he wanted to kill me, but the first rule he gave was if I want to live, no seduction. He even gave us the freedom to do our own thing," Lucia said.

Suddenly, when they were talking, they heard the sound of cars parking.

"What's that?" Lucia looked downward, but her face changed.

"Come and see," Lucia told Laura.

Laura went to the window and saw ten dark vans arrive with a car. Guards in black trooped down from the vans into the building, and a man came down from the car; ten people surrounded the man as he leaned on the car while holding his staff.

Laura's face turned cold when she saw that.

"Vincenzo Cassano, the son of the head of the Cassano family," Laura said.

"The Cassano family is one of the top three mafia families, though our family was still powerful than them in its prime," Laura said.

"Since they're here, let's drag it out till the boss arrives," Laura said, as they went to the drawer and saw the pistols lined up. They each took a pistol and ten cartridges, hanging them on the jackets that hung on their shelves before wearing the coats.

"It looks like I'm being influenced by the boss's aura; I feel confident," Laura said, as they made their way out of the office.

Coincidentally, guards trooped out from the stair opposite them.

"Bang, Bang" They shot eight rounds each, taking down close to ten guards. By the time they finished emptying their pistols, they had already reached a corner and jumped into it. The guards, seeing that their partners had been taken down, all started shooting.

"Report, fourteen of us are down," the head of the guards said, as they shot the corner where Laura and Lucia were hiding, but there was no reaction.

The man downstairs frowned.

"Do not kill her, repeat, do not kill her. We need her alive," Vincenzo said.

"Okay," the head said.

"Stop," he commanded. The guards stopped shooting.

"You two, go forward," he pointed to two random guards.

The guards were terrified, but they had no choice; they had to go forward.

The approached the corner, ready to die, and they got there.

"They're not here," the two guards said.

"They've taken the stairs," one of the guards said.

The guards rushed forward with the two in front, "Bang, Bang" Gunshots rang out as five guards, including the two earlier, were taken down.

An invisible portal opened behind them, and tentacles extended out into the dead bodies.

*******************""**"**************

Inside the car, Antonio and Wallace were on their way back. Wallace sat at the back, closing his eyes. Suddenly, he felt a portal open behind him, and tentacles extended into the portal, then he felt warm energy gush into his body.

"They're in trouble," Wallace said.

"How long until we get there at maximum speed?" he asked Antonio.

"It will take close to a minute," Antonio said.

"It's enough; they're not in danger," Wallace said.

"Or they are now," his face changed.

"Get in the passenger's seat," he told Antonio, as he felt pain hit his body. Another evolution was taking place.

Antonio stopped the car, and very soon, he also felt pain hit his body. He gritted his teeth as he jumped into the passenger seat before

collapsing onto the chair in pain.

"Ahh" Wallace grunted. This pain was worse, as he felt his whole body being torn apart and then regenerated. He felt as if countless needles were being inserted into his skin, but he had experienced hell before, so he was able to take the pain without allowing it to affect him.

When he arrived at the house, the evolution had already stopped. He felt something warm surround his body, and suddenly, dark energy tentacles wriggled out of his body.

"Hmm, what's this?" he thought.

***********"*""""""****************

Earlier, Laura and Lucia had made their way to the roof of the building after gunning down some men. They hid behind a pillar.

"Ahh" Laura shouted, along with Lucia, as they felt pain hit their bodies, and they collapsed on the floor with guns falling out of their hands.

"Not now" Laura grunted, but she could not do anything. The pain had clouded her senses.

Guards made their way onto the roof and saw two collapsed figures on the roof.

"Don't shoot" the head commanded.

"You two, go" he pointed at the two guards. He dared not go forward, even though he could see that they were vulnerable. He had already been terrified.

Two guards made their way towards the two ladies, but they confirmed that the two had collapsed on the floor. The head then walked towards them and confirmed that they were alive.

"Bang, bang" he kicked them a couple of times, and they curled up in pain due to the kick. He was furious; two ordinary ladies had pushed them to this extent.

"Pick them up and let's go" he said, as he made his way downstairs, leaving his guards to handle the two.

Wallace stopped his car and saw Laura and Lucia being carried out. Antonio was already in the car, though he had not collapsed, he could not gather his wits. He got down from his car, taking out two guns from his pocket. He moved like a phantom, and

"Bang, Bang" within a second, he had shot sixteen rounds, taking down sixteen guards.

Flustered, the guards scattered, leaving the two ladies. Wallace hid behind his car as the guards shot furiously. He changed the cartridges and got ready. His clairvoyant ability was calculating everything, looking for the best time to move out.

They continued shooting as they made their way towards the car. They soon made their way towards the car, and "Bang" Wallace punched the guard closest to him in the head, shattering his skull, while he held his body and used it as a shield against the second guard before he shot. The body was soon riddled with bullets.

He moved with it and threw it down as he shot down the guards at the front before looking at the man leaning on the car. He jumped suddenly, and

"Bang, Bang, Bang" he shot at the guy three times.

Vincenzo, who was leaning against the car, suddenly felt a terrifying alert of danger. He moved out from his earlier position.

"Bang" a bullet whistled past, and the skin on his face tore. He bent down and rolled on the floor; he felt another bullet whistle past his head the moment he bent down, taking some strands of his hair. "Ahh" he grunted as another one scraped past his shoulder.

The guards shooting furiously stopped as they gathered around their boss, not leaving any room. Vincenzo was terrified as sweat dripped past his body. He just shook hands with death then. He could not help but be terrified at the monstrosity of the guy shooting. Despite being shot at by many guards, he still had the time to shoot at him, and it was terrifying. If he had not moved at the right timing, his head would have been hit.

"Bang" he saw the guards at the front falling one after another, but they maintained a tight formation as they assisted him into the car. By the time he got into the car, close to twenty guards had fallen. Another fifteen fell before his car drove away. There were just a measly twenty guards remaining. They were like meat on a chopping board as Wallace took them down one by one.

He felt warm current flow through his body and coagulate onto his abdomen region. Antonio staggered out of the car.

"Looks like I have to trouble you; the police must not meet these bodies here" he said.

As for the people living on the street, they had long hidden into their homes and shops when they heard gunshots.

"Okay" Antonio said, as he made some phone calls, and within ten minutes, the whole place had been cleaned up, except for the holes on the building. The vans had also driven away.

Twenty minutes later, the police made their way to the building.
