Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

"Just shut it, look at her very closely now and next time you let her in," Summer shouted, shutting the lady up.

"Yes, ma'am " She replied as she watched them pass and enter the office.

As they walked through the corridors leading to Aiden's office, their shoes click on the floor making a rhythmic sound as they walked on.

"So, how do you plan to do it?" Amira asked, still curious about how her friend intended to get her the job and eventually closer to Aiden.

"Hmm…" Summer smiled as she took a stop a few meters away from a door, "Actually, I haven't told him at all but I've already gotten permission from my father and he can't go against him."

When they left the receptionist's office area, they took the elevator, got to the corridors and walked for a while until they were only a few meters away from his office.

Amira's heart couldn't help but tremble as she stared at the door and yet her friend's confident expression gave her a little bit of courage.

"Are you sure?" She asked again as she was not ready to face any humiliation from Aiden. Even though she and Aiden aren't that in contact or close to each other, she was quite literate in terms of his behaviors and attitudes so she knew who he was and how he could behave.

She just didn't want any pride invested guy to abuse her even if it's Aiden, her ego wouldn't accept that.

"Don't worry," Summer assured her with a smile as she held her hand. She led her to the door and opened it without knocking.

The door opened to reveal Aiden deeply immersed in the files and the person in front of him. A lady could be seen standing beside him, her hands placed behind her and her head bowed as Aiden lavished her with words.

"I've told you several times without numbers that I don't want to see files like this on my table. Make sure you correct all these mistakes and then bring them back again. Okay?" He gave a last shout at her.

"Yes, Sir. I understand." She said with her head still bowed, nodding in apprehension.

"That's good, you can go." Aiden said as he gestured at the files and the door.

The lady walked closer to Summer and greeted them before leaving. As she left, Aiden buried his head back into the other files he was working on but also opened his mouth to talk.

"And what brings you here? Is my house not enough or do you want to start sleeping in the office, too?"

"No brother," Summer replied with a smile as she moved closer to him, "Even if I come to the office, it won't be about sleeping but about working. Talking about working, didn't you see the person beside me?" She added as she swiped the files in front of him anyway.

"Oh…I get it now," Aiden said with a sigh as he looked at the files which he was supposed to be working on but was now in his sister's hand, "You are here on a mission to disturb my work."

"No," Summer said as she hissed, frustrated that he couldn't even acknowledge her friend and Amira wasn't any better.

She was already getting ashamed about how he was behaving towards her, he didn't even act as if she existed at all.

How then would they even talk to him about her?

"I came here with my friend, would you look at her, or does your wife have to give you permission before you do?" She said with a smirk as she swirled the file in her hand.

Aiden stared keenly at his sister as he spat, "Have you brought one of your friends again to seduce me? If that's the case, you aren't getting a chance this time."

"Ah…" Summer laughed loudly as she heard her brother's reasons for not wanting to look at her friend. It made her remember what happened then.

Twas the night of the welcome party for when Aiden became the CEO of the family company. She had brought her friends along and one of them had tried to rape, not that she tried but she did rape him. She got pregnant and lied that it was his.

If not because of the DNA test being invented then, Aiden would have already become a father, but when the test was conducted, it was confirmed that he was not the father of the child.

She sighed as she remembered the incident that happened then, it must have left a deep impression on Aiden about her friend and it could ultimately affect their plans.

She steeled her heart and tried to make him understand, "Brother, Amira isn't like those friends of mine. Amira here is a good friend and is even a Christian."

And then her words managed to get to him as he looked up to look at Amira before bringing his face back to Summer, "Since when did being a Christian become the criteria for determining one's character?" He asked with a smug look.

"Like father like son," Summer muttered as she realized that her brother used the same lines her father used when she said those words. With a shrug of her shoulder, she uttered confidently, "Anyways, I don't care. My new friend here is not a rapist and what she needs here is a job."

"What job, there's no vacancy." Aiden replied curtly then added, "My file?"

"That's not a problem then," Summer said with a bright smile. She handed him the book before and said, "I'll just make one available."

Turning to Amira, she held her by the hand and they both went out of the office.

"What a headache," Aiden muttered as he buried himself in his work once again.

Outside the office, Amira removed her hand from Summer's hold.

"What's wrong?" Summer asked, confused about why she did so.

"I don't think your brother wants me here," Amira said with a crouched voice.

Summer laughed as he replied, "Are you worried about that?" Then added as she put her hands on her shoulders, "What you should be worried about is a vacant post, and that is not even a problem to begin with. About my brother, that's how he is, he never likes anyone."

"Alright then," Amira said reluctantly before walking on with Summer.

They both took the elevator and Summer asked, "So, what post do you want?"

"A post in the marketing unit."

"That's not bad, come let's go get it done. We are going to the marketing unit now," Summer said as she inputted the key for the 5th floor.

Very soon the elevator stopped and they came out of it.

Summer stood in front of the huge glass door that led to the marketing unit. She opened the door and she and Amira entered.

As soon as one of the staff sighted her, she shouted straight away to catch all their attention, "Miss. Summer is here."

Her name alone was enough to bring fear into all of them, they knew what she could do and they weren't willing to test her but, the amount of times they had been pranked with this had made them grow numb to that so they assumed it was just one of the staff pranks.

Instead of moving their faces to where she was looking at, they just continued with their work without being bothered by the staff shrieks.

Then another staff beside the staff who shouted smacked the staff with his hand, "Just focus on your work, that would work."

He said but still, the staff shook her head again as she said, " I mean it, she's here."

"Do you have a death wish?" He asked with a raise of his brows and then decided to just check the place she was staring at and to his surprise, he saw Summer standing by the entrance.

He was shocked and he shouted more than the first staff who noticed her, "Holy mother of Jesus, she's here."

"What the fuck, you guys! You all know that the bitch don't come to office around this time!!" A young lady cautioned them, slamming her hand on the table but the other staffs didn't say anything but only sucked their breath which made her finally raise her head up from her system.

"And what is wrong with you all?" She asked but then saw the reason, instantly shutting her arrogance up. She was speechless and just stared at Summer in shock.

"I'm very…sorry miss Sum…n..er," she tried to form her words to apologize but they were all broken.

"Wow! I didn't know that I got a change of names already!" Summer said staring deeply at Abigail with a glare.

Abigail didn't know what to do she was trembling all through, she knew that she had fucked up.

"I'm very sorry…i.did," she tried to talk but got shut off before she finished her speech.

"Shut it, don't worsen it. Are you trying to tell me that you didn't mean to call me a bitch, that it slipped off?" Summer asked with a chuckle.

"No…I..mean that's…I'm very sorry, Ma. It won't happen again," Abgail tried to apologize again bowing really hard. By now she had already stood up from her chair and was in front of Summer.

Summer looked at her with a smirk as she said, "Miss Abigail, how about going to stay at the content creation section for a while until you learn how to control your mouth?"

"Wow!" Gasps escaped from the other staff lips as they heard her words.

Abigail didn't know what to do. She was conflicted, she knew she was being demoted based on nothing but still she could do nothing other than agree with her.

"Yes, that's a very nice decision, miss." She responded reluctantly with a bow.

"Oh…" Summer trailed in, "But why do I feel like you are ungrateful of my generosity?"

Abigail swallowed up every other ounce of pride in her and she bowed gratefully because she knew that if she got sacked from the Jones Cooperation, then it'll be hard to get another job.

"I'm very grateful, miss Summer, I'll use this chance to learn better."

"Now, that's great. So, we have a vacant post now, right babe?"

"Sure," Amira affirmed with a huge grin.

In Aiden's office, Aiden requested for Amira's documents and he glanced through it. After checking it through, he said as he faced her, "I hope you know that you got this job through nepotism but I don't really care, what I care about is that you do your job well and with your CV, I'm certain you can."

"Thank you, I surely won't disappoint you," Amira said, smiling brightly as she bowed.

"You can resume tomorrow then, my sister should tell you more about the office," he added then turned to Summer, "So now, get your ass out of my office."

With a beaming smile on her face, Summer announced, "I'll be bringing my friend home for dinner today."

"Uh…" Aiden muttered looking up, he was confused and he asked, "So why are you telling me? Finally getting my permission?"

"No, not really. I'm just telling you so that it won't come as a shock when she visits."

"Cool then, leave now, you're getting in my air." He said again, finally frustrated about them still lingering around.

"Goodbye," Summer and Amira both said before leaving the room.

"That was so easy," Amira commented as they waited for the elevator to descend to the last floor.

"I know right, he doesn't really go against my father except for his wife and I don't know why." Summer responded, her face going dark as she recalled her stupid brother's wife's name.

"Figure why you don't like her," Amira said, nodding her head in understanding.

They both walked out of the office and entered their cars after bidding good-bye.
