"So what is Spell casting?" A kind old teacher with gray hair said.
A student at the front of the class spoke up. " Is it when you say a chant that summons magical power Mr. Ferram?"
Mr. Ferram laughed heartily at the response he gets every year " No of course not, sorry for laughing I don't mean to belittle you. Spell casting is simple but hard. It is taking the areas around us and creating what we call a spell. Now I know what you're thinking but it's not like that. You will create what we call a core in the air and use it as a pseudo-soul to create ability. I know most of you are confused by what I'm talking about So I'll take questions."
Michael Spoke up as soon as he could. " Can you please demonstrate? I would like to see what you are talking about."
"Of course, I'll make the cores big enough to be seen by the naked eye." He picked up his hands and focused. He slowly moved his hands creating what an artist would call a masterpiece. The artwork floating in the air was purple purple-blueish color made up of circles of varying sizes, pointing in different directions, and angles. Some of the circles were oval while some were overlapping with others. After a second he pushed some more of the purple-blueish air through the circles and created a flower in the air. " Creating life out of a spell is something extremely complex and difficult in all honesty this has taken me over 40 years of creating nothing but this spell. It takes over 30 thousand cores and is completely useless in combat and on top of that all I could create was a simple flower."
Eram and Michaels's eyes were blood Remembering Cedric and how he seemingly created something out of nothing. Eram spoke up " Sir, cant Mr. Thorne do this?."
"He can. He has the nickname Creator of Life. He has two abilities that instantly made him a part of history called Creation of matter, and the Destruction of matter. Both of the aforementioned abilities create stuff out of virtually nothing and can destroy things to absolute nothingness he single-handedly made it to the tenth ring by himself before he had to return and get his team and then was able to stay in the tenth ring for over a year." The teacher continued on a rant until he noticed the students funnily looking at him.
"Sorry, I got lost in thought. Anyways basically you will create rings of pho to create an engine and the gas would be just to run pho through it that's pretty much it. Now here is the part that is a bit different. Not everyone can do it the way I showed you. Only people with a soul core and or a heart core can everyone else does it in a different way.
If you have a body core then you will have to create a spell in your body that will affect your body, Mind cores can manipulate pho in another person's body."
Alexander spoke up out of genuine curiosity " I have a mind core does that mean I can control others' minds?"
The old man continued " You can but in a combat situation, it is difficult. Think about it you are constantly fighting and the only times you can manipulate the pho in another person's body is through physical contact. I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. You have to punch someone a bunch to create the core in their body before it disperses or grapples onto them which is extremely dangerous.
Don't get worried though, If you have a mind core there is a way to get a soul core, as well as you will have the occasional opportunity to create an effect on others. Typically those with a soul core use simple spells to put the opponent at a disadvantage like making it harder to absorb pho."
He then let everyone take a break and head to the bathroom. Michael and Eram got together to talk about the thing on their minds Michael opened up first. " Cedric created over 30 thousand papers with individual text on every one of them."
Eram said " I know on top of that I didn't see a spatial warp around it to show that he got them through some way similar to a warp. I'm fairly certain he isn't human"
Michael responded " If you saw what I saw after you passed out you would think it was worse than that. He created identical clones of himself and used them to carry everyone. He has to be some kind of monster anyways it's time to head back to class let's go."
They both headed back to class and looked for their other friends who hadn't made it back yet. After waiting for a few minutes at the desks Yuki came back and after another few minutes, all of the other students came back including the two Alexander and Lila.
"Welcome back sorry for this class being so boring right now. But for the rest of the class, I am going to have you meditate and try to sense the pho in the air around you.
All the class did as they were told with a few students even grumbling. Eram closed his eyes once more and tried to sense the pho, He took long deep breaths in and deep breaths out. But even with the continual amount of effort he couldn't figure out what he was doing wrong and was getting frustrated. He then started to dream a little bit about his family and about his old life before he got to the school. He's only been here a day yet it felt like he has been here his whole life.
But what caught his heart the most was his most terrifying moment, That of what he thought of as his death. The moment when Sheila betrayed him and attacked him. He kept analyzing the fight as it was his first and wondered why she immediately knocked out The other three of his teammates rather than Michael Ryker and him. He kept playing back on the moment when she was saying it was a test.
He recalled when Cedric appeared out of nowhere and said he passed. He wondered why that was and then he recalled something. Right when he thought he was going to die he did something that made a ton of pho go into him and whatever was inside his head took over to keep him safe. He recalled how he was able to take in and feel the pho and it downed on him. Yuki said she could absorb the air or something so he thought of something.
"Yuki you remember that ability that you said could absorb the air or something can you use that real quick," Eram said.
She looked back at him in confusion and then used it not understanding what he was talking about. As soon as she used it m many students started coughing and choking as all of the air in the room was being sucked away at an insane rate until there was nothing left and Eram could feel it. He could feel the absence of Pho.
"Amazing what a rare ability! Young miss, what core do you have?" Cedric screeched out.
Startled by the the sudden attention and the realization of what her ability was and how effective it could be. "Uhm uh Y…Yes uhm and ." she started to panic and barely stuttered " He…heart."
"I am taking you as my disciple you are perfect Class dismissed I'm tired of having worthless monkey babies in my class." He looked around with a crazed look in his eyes " What are you waiting for get out!"
Eram was still busy meditating and trying to feel the pho the he noticed it. The pho was slowly leaking out of Yuki's body and he could feel it. With all of his might, he tried to move it, and ever so slightly it moved, Luckily not escape the professor's eyes. "Another prodigy, two in one day I might die of happiness!"
Right as the Professor was losing it something sad snapped him back to his attention, a ringing bell. "Fuck! Class dismissed! Damnit I expect progress out of the rest of you by tomorrow or I'm going to start taking points away from you all.
Everyone who heard Mr. Ferrams words were scared and even more furious at The two dimwits who made their life harder. All of the students left class and left the raving mad professor by himself.
Yuki asked Eram on the way out of the class "How did you figure it out?"
