I realized I had no choice in this matter so tentatively I approached the man. He pointed a sharp spear in my direction. Only then did I realize how old he must be, his face was a map of lines. He had cropped hair that stood up in places. On his head sat a crown of crab claws.
"I know what you are," He narrowed his eyes, "But what I don't understand is what you are doing on this boat with these good people."
I gulped down a big breath of air wondering if he would drag me into the sea.
"Please," I said quietly, "I promise I mean them no harm."
He laughed a booming laugh, "Come close my child."
I took another step.
His eyes shone with amusement as he raised his hand. I flinched prepared for a strike. Instead, I felt the odd sensation of peeling on my skin. It didn't hurt but it was itchy.
When I gazed into the water I stumbled back in fright. Half my face had turned back to normal and the other half was the face I wore now.
