Winter continued and we avoided accidents. I got used to shifting back and forth between a diamond and an emerald Licnine. It became muscle memory for me, and each time I got less tired. When we were on icy straights I helped guide the boat from below. Otherwise, I spent time with my new family playing games and mending.
It was on a bright sunny day that the ice seemed to vanish, and the next day it started to get warmer.
"We've made it," Quiz jumped up and down. We joined in jumping and cheering.
"We couldn't have done it without you, Iz," Qua smiled brightly, he grabbed onto me and hoisted me into the air. As they cheered they held me over their heads.
I laughed and squealed as I rolled back and forth.
That is when something heavy materialized nearby.
Quiz and Qua put me down.
"It's my second gift," I remarked, "I'm two summers now!"
I opened the box and found my dagger!
