When I woke up my head banged with pain. I wiped my forehead and found it sweaty. I shakily got to my feet and started towards the ladder.
"You're awake," I heard Lin say.
I let out a little groan.
"Mum was worried, we all were!" She wrapped her arms around me, "How did you get them to let you go, how did you live underwater?"
I turned to her and found myself using a very gentle voice, "Lin, could you get your family and bring them down here, theres something I need to explain."
She wrinkled her nose, "You're part of our family too!"
"Please just bring them down," I sighed.
She called out, "Mum, Qua, Quiz! She's awake!"
I listened to their footsteps and felt like my heart was made of ice. How could I tell them the truth when I had lied? They might hate me, they might dump me off the ship.
But it was the right thing to do.
