Days rolled past and we passed the time playing games, mending and cooking.
On one such day, I felt a cold breeze run down my back. I looked over the railing and saw a piece of ice.
"Mum," Quiz yelled, "Come quickly."
Mum studied the little bit of ice and smiled ruefully.
"We will need to be prepared to hunker down here, winter is upon us," She ruffled Quiz's hair.
"Won't it all freeze over?" I asked.
"No, it is a sea, we will be safe enough," Mum patted my head, "Now you, being born striped, are probably tired."
I suddenly stifled a huge yawn.
I almost fell down the ladder and made my way to my sleeping mat. When I had finished tucking the blankets around myself I felt deep sleep taking me.
"What about you, Mum," I asked.
"We sleep, but much, much less," She laughed a little, "We take shifts."
I let my eyes close.
When I dreamed I found myself someplace very odd.
