Ethan sighed. He still had to put on the attitude of not enjoying her actions, or else, she might end up chopping his ear off.
"You do not understand what I am trying to say, I believe I know you better than you know yourself, which is why I know what is good, and what is not good for you," Ethan confidently stated.
In return, Adelaide gave him a weird look.
"You met me for the first time three days ago, how do you know about what is actually good for me?" Adelaide folded her arms, still staring at him with the same look.
"Why do you keep giving me such a look? Do I have something on my face?" Ethan questioned as he subconsciously rubbed his face to check if there was any dirt on his face.
"It is not that, I was just wondering how you think you know so much about me, when in fact, you just met me," Adelaide scoffed as she gave him a reply.
Ethan rubbed his nose awkwardly. How could he tell her that they had once spent a lifetime together? It sounded untrue, but looking at Adelaide, she really wanted an answer.
"You don't need to know about it, just forget about it," Ethan decided to act harshly towards her.
Adelaide looked at him for a while. Something in her was telling her that she was hiding something from her. What he was hiding, she had no idea. She could only observe him so she could finally get the truth from him.
For her, she felt that he was extremely fishy, and he had a lot to hide. She finally made it her mission to find out what he was hiding, since it concerned her.
A few days later>
Ethan and Adelaide spent some quality time with each other. In this period of time, Adelaide got to know countless things about Ethan, and of course, the laws of Asteria.
And although, Adelaide decided that she did not want to be close to him, she still found out a little about him.
On this particular day, the Royal Family of Asteria decided to host a welcome party for Adelaide.
When Adelaide heard about the welcome party, she was in shock. She was not expecting a party. She was tempted to run out of the Palace.
"Greetings to you, Princess," while Adelaide was seated in front of the mirror, she was approached by a lady who looked to be around her age.
Adelaide snapped out of her reverie as she turned to the lady while giving a false smile.
"Princess, I can see from your eyes that you don't seem too happy about the arrangement, but I can assure you that there is nothing to be worried about, this is how things have always been done, so I suggest you keep your mind at rest," the lady encouraged her.
Adelaide nodded, seemingly understanding what the lady was talking about, but meanwhile, her mind was racing. If there was one thing Adelaide hated, then it was the feeling of ignorance.
And currently, this was what she felt. She could not stand the fact that she did not know what the banquet would bring.
"What is your name?" Adelaide asked. This was done to break the awkwardness between both of them.
"My name is Emerald, forgive my manners, I did not introduce myself as well as the reason for me being here, I hope you do not take offense, Princess?" The lady called Emerald instantly asked.
"No, I'm not offended, such things happen," Adelaide immediately gave a response which set Emerald's heart at peace.
"Actually, I have been ordered by the Prince to take care of you throughout the duration of the banquet, soon, some maids will arrive with the dress His Highness has prepared for you, I am to supervise them," Emerald explained, causing Adelaide's brows to crease into a frown.
"What of Maya? She is my personal maid, speaking of Maya, I haven't seen her since this morning, do you know where she might be?" Adelaide asked.
Now that she thought about it, Maya seemed to be missing which caused her to feel great worry.
Emerald smiled.
"You do not need to worry, Maya is fine, it is just that the Queen requested her to attend to her today, which is why I am here, originally, I attend to the Queen, but I have no idea why she decided to have Maya attend to her today," Emerald replied, still having a smile on her face.
Adelaide's worry increased. For some reason, she had a bad feeling about today. She could not understand why the Queen would decide to take such an action, but what could she do?
She could not go against the Queen. That was one of the rules her mother had given her before she left.
"Alright then," Adelaide had no other option than to give in.
She consoled herself by saying it was just for the banquet. At the end of the banquet, Maya was going to return to her. Or that was what she thought.
Some minutes later, the maids which Emerald talked about began to troop in.
Once Adelaide set eyes on the dresses which had been brought just for her, her mouth hung open in shock.
"Princess, these are the dresses, you can choose anyone which you think would look good on you, and you can leave the rest to me," Emerald was in a good mood seeing Adelaide have such an expression.
It just meant that the dresses were topnotch, and she (Emerald) must have done a good job. She mentally praised herself.
"Don't you think these are too much?" Adelaide rose from the chair while she approached the rack which held the clothes.
Once she touched one of the dresses, she felt an electric jolt which caused her to let go immediately.
Emerald was quick to react as she immediately asked, "what is wrong, Princess?"
Adelaide shook her head, before responding, "nothing, I just felt something."
"Alright then, you can look at the other clothes, and select the one which you like best," Emerald encouraged her to pick a dress.
Adelaide glanced at her, before she decided to take a look at the dresses.
The more Adelaide looked at the dresses, the more she felt drawn to them. It was weird, yes, but this was what she felt.
She felt that the clothes were extremely familiar, and she must have worn them previously.
'That is not possible, I could not have worn these dresses, I'm thinking too much,' Adelaide shook her head to get the funny thought out of her mind.
