"Do you like my brother? You keep staring at him?" While they watched the performances of some dancers of the Palace, Pearl asked Adelaide who was caught off guard.
"What do you mean by that little one?" Adelaide asked with a smile.
"I mean, you keep staring at him, I read in stories that only people who like someone can't take their eyes off another person," Pearl whispered innocently.
Adelaide chuckled. She found her reasoning to be charming.
"What have you been reading, Princess Pearl?" Adelaide asked in return.
"Some novels, I usually sneak into Penelope's room to get some novels, don't tell anyone," Pearl requested.
Adelaide nodded. Although she found it strange that the little girl was reading novels, since she had promised not to tell anyone, she would not go against the girl.
"Listen Pearl, what you have read are just fictional stories, I'm not staring at your brother because I like him, but I won't deny that I admire his personality, and one last thing, don't read such novels again, they are not advisable for you to read," Adelaide advised her.
Pearl was quiet for a while before she nodded. Because she liked Adelaide, she was willing to listen to anything she said.
After the performances of the dancers, there was a loud round of applause as King Albert walked to the podium to address the guests.
"Greetings to everyone here," King Albert's voice resonated through the entire hall, and there was a deep silence. This was the power he held.
While King Albert was addressing the guests, Ethan walked to Adelaide who looked up to him.
"Do you want to leave this place?" He asked. He noticed that she looked bored.
"Yes," Adelaide replied with a nod. She had no idea how he knew that she wanted to leave, but since he observed it, she could not pass out on such a good opportunity.
"But, what will the King and Queen say once they realize that we are not in the hall anymore?" Adelaide was worried about this.
"Forget about it, I will handle it," Ethan assured her, and she smiled.
Adelaide looked at Pearl who had mysteriously fallen asleep in her arms, and she gave a look to Ethan who glared at his unconscious little sister.
"Bring her along, her nanny would be outside, we would hand her over to her nanny, meanwhile, I have something to show you," Ethan smiled, and secretly cast a spell.
This would make it unable for people to see them sneak out of the hall.
After a few minutes, they finally made it out of the hall, and just like what Ethan said, Pearl's nanny was waiting outside.
"She is asleep, please take care of her," Adelaide handed the sleeping Pearl to her nanny who nodded.
The nanny soon left, and Ethan immediately grasped Adelaide's right hand, which caused her to let out a gasp.
"Where do you intend to take me?" Adelaide asked, trying her best to not focus on the hand which was on hers.
"You will find out," Ethan smiled as they took slow steps out of the Palace.
Once they got to the general garden which was surrounded by beautiful flowers, Adelaide thought that this was what Ethan wanted to show her, but it turns out he had other plans.
"The flowers are beautiful, I am glad you brought me here, I never knew there were such beautiful flowers in the Palace," Adelaide smiled as she ran her fingers through the various flowers.
Adelaide frowned when she did not get a response, and she was forced to turn her back, but what she saw caused her jaws to drop open.
She was taken aback by the sight in front of her, and she was tempted to run away. Her lips trembled terribly.
"Y-you have wings?" She stuttered as she stared at Ethan with wide eyes.
It turns out that Ethan decided to show his wings to Adelaide. It was clear that he wanted to let her know about his real identity.
"Yes I do, you are surprised, aren't you? And you also have countless questions as to how and why I have wings," Ethan took slow steps towards her, but stopped when he noticed that she had stepped backwards.
"You are right, I do have questions for you, wings? What are you? Your eyes are also pitch black, which is different from its normal color, I will ask you once again, what are you?" Adelaide questioned as she watched him, still feeling stupefied.
"It is a long story, and I do not wish to tell you since you are not ready for it," Ethan replied, tucking his wings back, causing another shock to Adelaide.
"Then what is the reason for your current action? Why did you show me your wings?" Adelaide asked. She hated to admit it, but she was curious about this weird phenomenon.
"My reason?" Ethan replied with a question while he chuckled.
"Since we are husband and wife, we do not need to hide anything from each other, this is the reason for my actions," Ethan replied in a natural tone.
"Is that so? But I believe you are keeping secrets from me, your wife, by not telling me how your wings came to be," Adelaide was able to use his words against him as she gave him a smirk.
It was time for Ethan to be taken aback.
'Oh No! I have forgotten how smart she is, she surely hasn't changed, always having her way with words,' he thought to himself while staring at Adelaide who was still waiting for an answer.
"Like I said earlier, it is a long story, and you are not ready to know about it, first, regain your memories, you will find out why and how my wings came about," Ethan mysteriously replied to her.
"What do you mean by memories? I am perfectly okay, and I believe I don't have any missing memories," Adelaide was already offended by his words.
"How sure are you about it? Don't you have crazy, strange dreams, and you are unable to make out the meaning of the dream?" Ethan questioned confidently as he stared at Adelaide who lowered her head, seemingly in deep thoughts.
