Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Ethan Is Annoyed

Adelaide was confused. How could he know about the dreams she always had? She was even more confused as to how he was confident that had missing memories.

"Why do you sound so sure? Who are you? What do you know about me?" Adelaide immediately asked while she looked at Ethan with wary eyes.

Ethan tucked his wings in, and they disappeared.

"Adelaide, I wish I could tell you who I am, or what I am to you, but it would be a trigger, and I don't want you to be triggered, like I will always say, it is best for you to figure them out yourself," Ethan closed his eyes while giving her a reply.

Adelaide looked at him. She didn't bother to question him anymore. It was pointless anyway. He was not going to tell her, so she didn't force him to give a reply.

Either way, she was thinking about the wings, and different theories popped into her mind. She wondered how he was able to get wings.

The atmosphere between the two became silent, but not tense, nor awkward.

Adelaide turned to look at the flowers which were surprisingly blooming, until a question flashed through her mind.

"Since you have wings, I think you should be able to perform magic, do you do magic?" Adelaide asked.

Ethan raised his head to look at her, and he chuckled. He was glad that she was asking questions if she didn't, he would feel bad.

"Of course, these flowers are not meant to bloom now, but I think you should know the reason for them blooming," Ethan replied, directly replying to her question.

Adelaide grinned.

"I love the flowers, thank you for making them bloom," Adelaide thanked him as she walked further into the garden.

"Adelaide," Ethan called her, and she stopped before turning to look at him only to see him in front of her with a flower in his hand.

She had a confused look on her face as her eyes darted between the flower and his face.

"This flower would fit you perfectly," He smiled at her as he walked closer to her, closing the gap between both of them. He aimed to place the flower on her hair, giving her a fairy look.

Due to the difference in height, Adelaide had to look up to him as she watched him place the flower in her hair.

While staring at him up close, she noticed how handsome he looked, and she was close to having a nosebleed.

"There, done, it looks beautiful on you," Ethan's voice brought her out of her reverie.

She cleared her throat awkwardly while giving him a smile.

Adelaide touched her hair, and for some weird reason, she felt that she became more beautiful.

The flower was rare. It was a Zephirine Droughin Rose. This rose was bred by Queen Victoria, and she cherished it immensely, but, Ethan had generously placed it in Adelaide's hair.

One would wonder how Queen Victoria would react once she found out her precious flower was plucked.

While Ethan was busy admiring Adelaide, they heard a commotion outside, causing both of them to exchange glances.

They both walked out of the garden, only to see the Royal guards standing outside. It seemed like they had figured out the absence of the couple, and they went searching for them.

"Your Highness, where have you been? We have been searching for both of you, we feared that the enemies must have kidnapped you both," one of the guards fell to the ground while making his statement.

Ethan scoffed.

"That is the craziest joke I have ever heard, do you think any of my enemies would dare to go against me? Except they must have lost their minds," Ethan was oozing with confidence as he replied to the guard.

Adelaide looked at him, and a smile secretly and involuntarily left her lips. She felt that he looked brave while she said those words.

"My son, you are here, I can't believe you made us look for you, and you are here, I guess you cannot help but want to spend some alone time with your wife," it was the voice of Queen Victoria as she walked from behind while the guards made way for her.

Ethan stared at his mother blankly, not letting any emotions appear on his face.

"We felt suffocated, so we decided to spend some time alone, I am not convinced that is any huge issue, is it?" Ethan asked as he tilted his head while asking the question.

Queen Victoria had an awkward look on her face. She could not refute his words. Ethan had a way with words, and no one had ever won a game of words against him.

"But still, you could have at least told us, this would prevent us from being worried about you," Queen Victoria decided to play the victim game.

Ethan rolled his eyes. He was used to her being dramatic.

"I don't think I am a little child who needs to tell you about my whereabouts," Ethan clapped back, which caused the Queen to cough awkwardly.

Adelaide, on the other hand, watched as the mother-son duo argued, and she felt like running away. She found it weird to stand there, while she watched them exchange words.

Adelaide secretly tugged at Ethan's sleeves. She wanted him to stop. To her, she felt that they were both in the wrong, so it was best for them to apologize.

"We are sorry, Your Majesty, we just felt that the hall was a bit stuffy, so we decided to get some fresh air, we were about to make our way in," Adelaide was quick to apologize, much to Ethan's annoyance.

But Ethan was not the type to get annoyed with her, so he only closed his eyes as he tried to control his emotions.

"Let's go in," Ethan stated, directly taking her hands into his as they walked away, leaving behind the Queen and the guards.

Queen Victoria shook her head, finding his actions to be childish.

"You shouldn't have done what you did," Ethan complained with a low voice as they walked back into the premises of the Palace.

"Done what?" Adelaide asked with a clueless voice.
