Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Madeline Causes Trouble

Adelaide had no idea why she was pitying her, but she felt that Madeline must have gone through a lot, considering the fact that she decided to open up to her.

"Have you ever asked him the reason for his change?" Adelaide asked with concern.

Madeline's face changed, before she regained her composure.

"I dared not ask him, Ethan's change was terribly drastic, I feared that if I asked him, he would take his anger out on me, I couldn't," Madeline replied, and although, her reason seemed plausible, Adelaide still had doubts.

Perhaps, it was due to how she was trained, she always learned to ask questions when she felt some situations were unfavorable.

"You sound scared, but Ethan is married to me, and you are about to get married to Prince Edward, but if you want to calm your heart, I suggest you confront Ethan, and if you are scared, I will be by your side," Adelaide promised with a smile.

Madeline's smile froze on her face as she stared at Adelaide who looked keen on helping her out.

'Why is it different from what I thought about? I was expecting her to throw a rage after listening to what I said, but this damned lady wants me to ask Ethan, does she want my cover to be blown?' Madeline grumbled in her heart, while she forced a smile on her face.

"I don't think there is any need for that, I have moved on, I just wanted someone to speak with," Madeline was quick to reject her proposal, but Adelaide was not having any of that.

"No, it is settled, once Ethan is done speaking with those dignitaries, I would take you to meet him, he needs to give you a proper explanation," Adelaide's words were final leaving Madeline with a forced smile on her face while feeling dread in her heart.

A few minutes later, Ethan was done with speaking with the dignitaries, and he frowned once he realized Madeline was seated beside Adelaide. He did not want her to be beside his wife at all.

"What is she doing here?" Ethan asked with a coarse voice while glaring at Madeline, who lowered her head.

She had wanted to escape stylishly, but it seemed Adelaide was keen on helping her solve an in existent issue.

"Lady Madeline decided to inform me about plenty of things, and I felt that it was a misunderstanding, so I wanted you both to discuss, and talk things out," Adelaide explained to him with a smile.

Ethan's frown deepened as he directed a glare to Madeline who dared not to raise her head.

She dared not look into Ethan's eyes, for she could feel his anger emanating just from him standing beside her.

"Is that so? And what might that be? What misunderstanding could she have told you about?" Ethan asked with his hands folded. He was interested in hearing what Madeline might have told his wife.

"Madeline, you should be the one to tell him, after all, I am not well versed with your story, you both are childhood sweethearts, so it is best you explain things to him."

Adelaide encouraged Madeline to speak, but she had no idea that her words were akin to digging a grave for Madeline, not like she would care about it.

Ethan, on the other hand, on listening to Adelaide's statement, was in a terrible mood with his eyes fixated on Madeline who was already shivering.

By this time, Edward noticed the commotion at their side, and he decided to approach them to see what was going on.

"And what is going on here? Are you both bullying my fiancée?" Edward immediately put on a protective look as he came to stand behind Madeline, who was already shaking in fear.

In her mind, she was screaming, 'it is over! It is all over!'

It was better to have Ethan and Adelaide on her back, but now, Edward had to be added to the mix. She had no idea what sort of excuse she could use to get away from the situation.

Then her eyes lightened up after a thought flashed through her mind. She thought of the only thing she could do, and that was to faint. To her, this was the only way to get out of the situation.

Therefore, her eyes rolled to the back as she pretended to faint. Edward was quick to catch her, preventing her from hitting her head on the floor.

"Take a look at what you both have done, my fiancée has fainted, and you both are the reason for her current situation," Edward yelled as he picked up Madeline in princess carry while glaring at the couple.

This single act caused the guests to turn their attention to the trio, excluding the 'unconscious' Madeline.

An uproar broke out at once as the guests began to point fingers while discussing the matters which concerned the Royal Family.

"How is it our fault? Your Fiancée approached me, and she was telling me about the sweet moments she spent with Ethan, I was only trying to help them clear out their misunderstandings," Adelaide pursed her lips feeling wronged.

She had completely forgotten about the promise she made to her mother, never involving herself in any matters which concerned the Royal Family of Asteria.

The reason for this was because she felt jealous. She had no idea why she was jealous, but she felt that strange and annoying emotion within her, and she slowly showed her true self.

Although, Adelaide might not like Ethan, it didn't change the fact that she was already married to him, and she could see through Madeline's plan to sow discord.

Edward opened his mouth in shock as he stared at the lady in his arms, who was unconscious, and he had no idea what to believe.

After all, he spent his entire childhood with both of them, and he knew how much Madeline was obsessed with Ethan since childhood.

But this didn't mean Ethan gave face to her. Instead, Ethan detested her deeply. He wondered why Madeline would say such words.

"I don't trust you, I will confirm this later, meanwhile, Brother, friendly advice from me, caution your wife properly," Edward warned with gritted teeth.

"I would love to say the same for your fiancé," Ethan replied with an even harsher demeanor, leaving Edward to purse his lips in annoyance.
