Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Banquet II

While waving the thoughts in her mind, Adelaide was drawn to a particular dress, and she felt that she resonated with the dress.

Due to this fact, she decided to get the particular dress.

"Have you decided which dress to wear, Princess?" Emerald asked once she noticed Adelaide stopped at a particular dress.

"Yes, I would be wearing this," Adelaide replied, pointing to a gold ball gown which was decorated with small pearls scattered on it.

Emerald looked at the dress which Adelaide had chosen, and a smile appeared on her face.

"Good choice, Princess, it just so happens that Prince Ethan knew that you would select this particular dress, it seems you both are connected," Emerald flattered.

Adelaide paused, before she regained her composure.

"Is that so?" Adelaide asked as she ran her fingers through the material.

"Yes, Princess, alright, let's skip talking, you need to get dressed, it is our duty to make you the most beautiful since you would be the center of attention," Emerald smiled, and Adelaide forced a nod.

If it were up to her, she would decide not to attend the banquet. But it was not possible, this banquet was done for her sake.

After what seemed to be an eternity, Adelaide was ready with the help of the maids, and of course Emerald.

"Princess, you are looking beautiful, I believe His Highness would be unable to take his eyes off you," Emerald complimented as she admired Adelaide's beauty.

"Thank you for the compliment," Adelaide smiled while she carefully tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Shall I walk you to the banquet?" Emerald asked as she stretched out her hand towards her.

"What about Ethan?" Adelaide instinctively asked.

"He is busy attending to the guests, I fear he would be unable to work you into the hall, which is why I decided to help you, but you do not need to worry, you would get to see him in the hall," Emerald explained to her, and Adelaide nodded in understanding.

She did not bother to ask questions again. She even felt that it was better that she did not see Ethan.

They finally got to the door of the hall, and it happened that Ethan was there, waiting for them.

"Isn't His Highness looking very handsome? And his clothes match with yours, you both are such a good-looking couple," Emerald complimented with a bright smile on her face.

Adelaide forced a grin while she lowered her head shyly. She had to admit, the compliment caused her to feel shy, and embarrassed simultaneously.

Ethan approached the two ladies with an aura which was able to pull people close to him.

"Greetings, Your Highness," Emerald greeted him with a bow, while she moved backwards, giving space to Ethan to stand beside Adelaide.

"You are looking gorgeous today, and I felt that you were going to choose this gown, so I picked clothes just to match with you, how do I look?" Ethan took a step back as he eagerly awaited Adelaide's compliment.

Adelaide accessed him from top to bottom, and she could not deny that he looked extra handsome today.

Ethan was always handsome, but he was looking extraordinary today, and for some reason, Adelaide was unable to take her eyes off him.

Ethan was putting on a black royal suit. The black formed a contrast against his pale skin, which caused him to look more of a demon than a prince.

"You look good, not bad," Adelaide gave a plain compliment after she had accessed him.

Emerald, who was behind them, hung her mouth. She was not expecting Adelaide to give such a plain compliment, and she was tempted to speak up, but thankfully, she had self-control.

Meanwhile, Ethan frowned, but he did not make it visible. He was in a bad mood. And he was the only one who knew why he was angry.

"Shall we go in?" He stretched forth his hands for Adelaide to take in.

"Sure," Adelaide replied, and she placed her hands in his. She felt a strange familiarity, and she immediately snapped her head towards him.

"What is wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing, I just feel strange, I will be fine," She replied with a forced smile as they made their way into the hall.

All eyes turned to them once they walked in, and whisperings started as eyes fell on them.

Adelaide was quite nervous. Although, she had made public appearances back in Dystopia, it was not the same here in Asteria.

In this country, she did not know many people. In fact, she did not know anyone, and it felt like the entire people had judgmental looks in their eyes as they accessed her.

"You do not need to be tensed, they cannot try anything as long as I am by your side, and of course, they are aware that you are backed by me, do you think they would try something stupid?" Ethan sensed that she was tensed, and hence, he whispered to her, just to make her feel at peace.

"Thank you," Adelaide thanked him gratefully.

Ethan nodded, while discreetly smiling. He had to admit that her gratitude brought a smile to his face which dismissed his earlier annoyance.

"Father, Mother," after a long, strenuous walk from one end of the hall to the other, they finally reached the Royal Family's designated seats, and Ethan greeted his parents nonchalantly.

"Greetings to the Sun and Moon of Asteria," Adelaide greeted with a slight bow.

"You may rise," Queen Victoria instructed.

"Come, have a seat," Ethan said as he pushed the unsuspecting Adelaide to have a seat.

"Adelaide, I have missed you, I would have visited you, but I had these boring classes, and it always took up most of my time," Pearl, the little girl approached Adelaide with pouty lips as she complained to Adelaide.

"But it is for your good, you need to be educated," a genuine smile appeared on Adelaide's face when she noticed the little girl.

Perhaps, the girl was the only one who could make Adelaide smile as she genuinely loved her.
