Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: True Form

"Did you say my parents gave you these herbs?" He asked, and she nodded confused.

"Yes, they did, is there anything wrong with it?" Adelaide asked innocently.

"I will be right back," Ethan did not reply to her question, before he exited the garden, leaving behind a confused Adelaide.

"What's wrong with him?" She asked herself while she took a herb.

She did not see or smell anything wrong with it. If anything, she found it to be extremely valuable.

The Royal Couple's Courtyard>

Ethan barged into the courtyard, the guards could not stop him for two different reasons.

One, he was the Crown Prince, and two, even if he were not the Crown Prince, Ethan was stronger than all the guards combined, so they dared not mess with him.

"Mother, Father, I request to see you," Ethan did not bother to bow to his parents as he directly requested them to give him an audience.

Queen Victoria dropped the cup of tea which she was holding, and she gave a look to her husband, before turning to look at her son who had a horrible look on his face.

"You know we always have time for you, speak, why do you want to see us?" King Albert asked with a smile.

"Cut the crap, both of you, you both are aware of Adelaide's identity, aren't you? This is the reason you want to test her using the herbs," Ethan accused.

The couple's faces changed as they gave each other a look.

"And what might my son be talking about? I know Adelaide to be the first Princess of Dystopia, your Princess Consort, is there any other identity we need to be wary of?" Queen Victoria smoothly asked.

If Ethan were to be an ordinary person, he would have thought he got it all wrong, but fortunately, he was not ordinary.

Ethan's senses were more sharpened than the rest, and he was well aware of his parents' thoughts.

"Don't you find it ridiculous for you both to act ignorant?" Ethan rubbed his forehead distressed.

"Ethan, you are confusing us here, why don't you tell us why you are so worked up?" King Albert demanded.

"The herbs, why did you give the herbs to Adelaide?" Ethan questioned.

"Good, you have asked your question, and we are sorry to say, we have no direct answer for it," King Albert replied, causing Ethan's face to morph into confusion.

"You know what, it is useless trying to have such a conversation with you both," Ethan had given up. It was clear that he would not get a response regardless of what he said.

"You have to remain calm, remember we are the reason Adelaide is still alive and with you," Queen Victoria warned as she slowly morphed into a different form.

Her fingers slowly elongated while her face turned red, with two horns growing out of her hair. The same thing went for King Albert, except that he looked more masculine than Queen Victoria's form.

At their backs were black wings as they flapped it heavily causing the leaves in the area to be flapped away. They were demons.

Ethan rolled his eyes on seeing their true form.

"Why do you want to know Adelaide's true identity?" Ethan questioned, not minding how they looked.

"You don't need to know, you know your secrets are with us, it is best you stay out of our business, or else your secrets will be made public," The male demon threatened.

Ethan, who was meant to be scared about their threats only, gave them a side eye.

"If you reveal my secrets, your secrets will be exposed as well, isn't it better that we are all friendly, and also, my business is Adelaide, stay away from her," Ethan warned, scoffing as he walked out of the courtyard.

The two slowly transformed back into their disguises.

"Ethan is slowly becoming wild, we need to tame him," Queen Victoria snarled.

"Just leave him be, I know he is arrogant, but it is necessary for him to be that way if he wants to take over the two kingdoms, as for Adelaide, we would find out about her identity later, Ethan is sure to protect her," King Albert analyzed.

"I can't stand his attitude," Queen Victoria folded her arms in annoyance.

"I am aware, but what can we do, he is the perfect successor for our kingdom, you know we don't have enough time left in the kingdom," King Albert sniffed?

As soon as he said that, Queen Victoria's face fell, while a sad look came over her.

"You don't need to think about it, in the meanwhile, why don't we enjoy our lives as humans?" King Albert decided to cheer his wife up.

Meanwhile, Ethan rushed back to his garden. He had the aim of taking the herbs away from Adelaide as they were bad for her health.

"Hey, why did you do that? This was a gift from your mother," Adelaide yelled out immediately when Ethan rushed in, pushing the basket of herbs to the floor.

Adelaide gave him a look, and seeing that he was not willing to apologize, she scoffed before she squatted to pick the herbs.

"Do not touch those herbs, it is a warning, and I hope you listen to me," Ethan instructed, and she instinctively paused.

Adelaide breathed out through her lips as she rose to her feet. She had momentarily forgotten about her decision to act meek as she prepared to confront him.

"Why did you do that? You don't give me orders, your parents carefully prepared this gift for me, and you can't decide that I should dispose of it," Adelaide screamed.

Ethan, on the other hand, enjoyed seeing her scream. It has been a while since he last saw her scream, so he decided to enjoy the view before she decided to act timid once more.

As Adelaide was venting, she noticed a small smile on Ethan's lips, and she paused immediately.

"Are you laughing?" Adelaide carefully asked, and the smile on Ethan's face disappeared immediately.

"No, I am not," he denied.

"Are you trying to say that I am lying? I clearly saw you laughing," Adelaide complained.

"Alright, I apologize for laughing, but you really need to understand that these herbs are not nice for you," Ethan apologized, while laying heavy emphasis on the word 'nice.'

"And what makes you think so? What do you think is right for me?" Adelaide was stubborn as she questioned him.

She had no idea that she was slowly revealing her true self to him, which was something he wished she did more often.
