Chapter 12 - Certain

As Sion was waiting for his number to arrive, he noticed a few people looking at him and his eyes narrowed, but he ignored them, since he had bigger things to focus on, while he also could not shake off the feeling as though someone was following him at the time.

He read through a pamphlet containing information about the guild as well as the type of things they do well and the type of people they accept, there were many different types of party, as well as power struggles, even among the guild members, they fight for the top spot within the guild, the one who would gain the title worthy of a champion, or more for doing their work well.

The creature by his neck glanced at him as he was reading up on the information that was provided for members to on the pamphlet so that they could understand how things worked at the guild, all of the rules as well as the regulations were included in it.

"Uh... Master, you are being followed, you do realize that right?" The creature asked him quietly and her brows raised at the fact that it noticed as well, which meant the one that was following him was not being as discreet as they thought they were, which he found somewhat amusing.

"Master now, huh? Whatever, I know, but I am pretending that I do not, now I suggest you stay quiet, dear little one, you would not want to be seen, that much I can already tell due to how you are clinging to me," He responded quietly and it growled at him as it huffed and looked away, not wanting to acknowledge his words and she smiled a bit.

Sion did not say anything, since he was curious about the little creature and its origins, which he opened to get some answers to, once he finished the test, for he could not just carry him around without any good reason, especially with the current position she was in.

Yes, he knew that lots of trouble may be brewing but he chose not to get worked up about it, he had to stay calm and ration, well at least for the time being, he could not mess up, he needed a job, the money, since he was broke and had nothing to even call her own in the world, that was now her home.

"Are you new around here?" A male among the other candidates asked him and he glanced at him with his eyes narrowed.

"Yes, I am here looking for a job," He responded.

"Is that so? And just out of curiosity, do you think you will be able to pass the test, I mean a nobody like you... I am just saying it will not be easy, you could take a test for another occupation, after all, the test to these types of guilds are not easy to pass, since it is one of the best," The guy said and his brows furrowed.

He knew very well what he was trying to do and he was hell-bent on showing him, how wrong he was when the time was right, he did not like people like him, who think they are better than anyone else and try to push others so that they could rise to the top instead.

Sion disliked people like that and wanted to shut him up but decided to do it another way instead, so he just smiled at him and went back to reading the pamphlet and his brows twitched when he ignored him and his friends that were by his side, snickered.

"This guy needs a good beating," The creature muttered by his neck as it was discreetly glaring at the guy, when its eyes began glowing sightly and he glanced at it and saw.

At the same time, the cup the guy was holding, began heating up, burning his palm a bit and he yelped as he dropped it to the floor, causing the liquid from it to spill and the others around there, all looked in their direction, as a healer among his friends rushed to his aid, to help him with the burn, while Sion stared, in slight surprise.

He glanced at the creature, who huffed and turned away as if it did nothing wrong and he smiled a little, as he looked at the guy, whose friends were fussing over him, when the burn was not even that bad, in his eyes, it was well deserved, which was why he did not reprimand the creature for its actions towards the guy, for he disliked people who looked down on others, trying to make themselves look better, when all it did was show how weak-minded they truly were.

"You... Was this your doing?" The guy asked as he glared at Sion and he sighed then closed the pamphlet as he turned to look at him, directly in his eyes.

"Me? Heh... How cruel... How could it be me when I am literally all the way over here? I am new in this city, I do not know anyone here, what have I ever done to you that you would single me out like this?" He asked, his voice sniffling and tears brimming at the corners of her eyes, feigning hurt in a mocking manner, which they were oblivious to.

The creature left staring at his acting skills and the guy's brows twitched in irritation as he called him out on his bullying and a few senior adventurers that were there approached them.

"Hey, stop picking on the newbie, clearly he has more brains than the bunch of you, have you no shame? In this guild no such thing will be tolerated especially from someone who has not passed the test himself either, do I make myself clear?" The senior male among them asked and the guy nodded with his gaze lowered, not daring to say another word.

"Are you okay?" The senior asked Sion as he turned to him and he nodded then thanked him and he nodded at him, before rejoining his group. He glanced at the guy who tried to bully him, with his eyes narrowed.

At the same time, his candidate number was called, it was his turn to take the exam. Without hesitation, he got up and followed the instructor to a restricted part of the guild.
