Sion's eyes kept on glowing in the midst of the smoke-filled room, fixed on the noble he attacked as he lay against the now cracked wall, with blood streaming down his lips as he opened his eyes and his gaze met the young man's glowing ones with the smoke and his eyes narrowed, as he realized he had done the one thing he should not have done.
He underestimated his opponent for the first time in a long time and it ended up with his loss, a feeling he had not felt in a long time among new candidates that had previously tried out to be in the guild, a guild which could open many career paths for many different types of people.
The smoke slowly began to dissipate and Sion's eyes narrowed as he looked at him; while approaching him and he gently grasped his arm as he helped him up and his eyes widened at Sion's sudden act of kindness.
He was not expecting that in the slightest, for most people would just gloat and leave their defeated opponent to suffer until help found them, but he did the complete opposite of what he was used to seeing, in most matches.
He braced the injured man against the wall, so he would be able to support himself as well as regain his composure and he glanced at him as the timer finally ran out and the green light blinked within the room and the door that had disappeared just when the test had started, reappeared before their eyes and she looked back at it.
A male healer and another instructor, a female one with short dark hair and glasses, entered the room. The healer approached him while the other instructor glanced at him. Sion looked at her with an unwavering gaze as his eyes finally stopped glowing.
"Thank you," The noble said to him and his eyes widened slightly as he turned to look at him, as did the other two within the room with them, clearly taken by surprise.
"For helping me and I am sorry for everything I said, most of which is true from personal experience, I did not just say that out of arrogance, it was what I had seen before that drove those words out of me, I had been met with a lot of disappointment, it is why I thought you would be the same," He said to Sion, as he looked up at him and his tone was sincere, Sion could hear it and he understood.
"I understand now why you were acting like that, I guess it would only be natural for someone in your position, your apology is accepted, I should not have gone so hard either," He replied and the man chuckled a bit then nodded.
The other two stared in disbelief, for as long as they had known him and he had trained others within the guild, they had never heard him speak like that before, especially to a new candidate, they had not expected him to acknowledge a newbie like that before.
The healer began healing his minor wounds, they were not serious, since he did manage to block a bit of Sion's attack from causing him any serious amount of damage and as he was being healed, the other instructor turned to face Sion, who glanced at her with his brows furrowed.
"You managed to finish the final part of the test within the time limit that was given as you can see for yourself, the light switched to green and everything had been recorded for the final result," She said and Sion nodded in agreement with her words.
"I understand but, did I pass?" He asked the woman.
"You fulfilled all of the requirements, all three of the necessary actions were met and that too within that time limit, so based on all of your actions so far, your performance, yes, you have passed the test," She responded with a firm nod.
Sion smiled upon hearing her words, he was quite pleased with himself, knowing it was his first step taken to what he wanted, to starting a new life and he was relieved to some extent, hearing he passed.
"Congratulations, I have to admit that you did really well, better than most new candidates would, she will guide you through the rest, there are more candidates that are waiting to do the tests," The noble said to him as he was being healed.
"Thank you, I will follow her instructions to complete the procedure, also a question, are all the tests the same?" Sion asked him.
"You are welcome and no, not all of them are the same, we switch the tests up a lot as well, catch the candidates by surprise, if we do not do any of that, most would find an easy way to pass, which would not be fair to those who went about doing it the right way, it would be cheating in the right sense, you understand my point of view do you not?" He asked him and he smiled a bit and nodded.
Sion understood what he meant as well as the need to be fair and just among everything that involved getting new members within the guild, they actually had to try and use their own talents to get in, not find another way around it, a shortcut.
"Good, I am glad you do, you have talent kid, work on it and it will get you a good way ahead within this guild, good luck on your path ahead," He said to him.
"Thank you, I will keep that in mind," Sion replied and he nodded as the healer took him out of the room and he turned to the female instructor beside him.
"Follow me," The woman said and Sion followed her out of the room.
The woman led him to another room, after leaving that one and Sion noticed it was the same one that he had previously been in, the one with the orb and it was glowing much brighter than it had before.
"Place your hand on the print and you will receive your card," The woman said to her and Sion did as instructed and the orb began spinning a bit while glowing and Sion closed her eyes as she waited.
