Chapter 10 - Arrived

The caravan stopped before him and he peeked at the people inside and an older blonde woman opened the door, asking him if he needed a ride or if he was lost.

Sion did not trust anyone, but he knew that he had a long way to walk if he wanted to get to his destination and he was already tired as well as hungry, since ever since he came, he had nothing to eat or drink and his energy level was already quite low.

He glanced at the creature by his neck, which had concealed itself so that nobody would see it and he exhaled deeply before looking back at the woman and nodding.

The older woman smiled and the other passengers made space for him, as he got in the back with them and they kept on going down the same road.

"You seem quite young. What are you doing walking down the road at this hour? " The woman asked Sion, and Sion looked at her.

"I got lost, I was trying to find my way back to a city," He responded, knowing it was partially true.

"I see, well little one, you are in luck, we are heading to one, in about a few hours, which means by morning light, we will reach the capital of the kingdom of Norvac, it is mostly a city of foreigners, since the adventurer guild there is one of the best among the kingdoms," The woman said to him as she tilted her head.

He was familiar with the term, since he used to play games and was a nerd in the life he used to life, but it also made him wonder if it was exactly as he thought it would be or whether things would be different since, all of it was now real, it was not a video game or a book of any kind.

"I see, thank you for helping me," He replied and the woman smiled and then nodded.

"You don't seem to be too familiar with these things, especially your surroundings, you are not from around here, are you?" The creature by his neck asked, but no one other than him could hear it and he sighed, since he could not answer it, at least not without looking as though he was a crazy person, talking to himself in front of a bunch of strangers.

After a while of travelling and chatting with the people there, Sion got a bit more information about certain things that he may bump into in the city, which made him a bit curious about what lay ahead of him.

"Here, you seem a bit hungry," The woman said to him as he handed him a small flask of wine and a small packet of bread.

He thanked the woman and looked at his food, as his tummy grumbled, from being starved for hours upon hours, but he was also a bit hesitant to eat it, since the woman seemed too nice, he was not one to trust easily.

Upon hearing that the food was safe for him to eat, he felt a bit of relief, thankful that he had such an ability and he began eating with a hum of satisfaction and the blonde woman chuckled at the sight and Sion smiled at him.

When he finished eating, he exhaled deeply for his hunger was finally a bit satisfied and he was glad he met these people, since he knew that not always people were so generous, some would rather have left you, especially a stranger right there on the road, to fend for themselves, he saw things like that happen, one too many times before.

Due to being tired, Sion fell asleep and the woman took a quill and placed it over him, as the passengers chattered and the creature, kept an eye on him, just in case he got into unexpected or unwanted trouble.

As the hours slipped by, the caravan finally came to a stop amidst a cacophony of noises and chatter, rousing Sion from his slumber. His eyes fluttered open to the glaring morning light, and he squinted, taking a moment to adjust to the light.

He realized that they had arrived in the city, and he noticed the other passengers disembarking the vehicle. He stood up and rubbed his eyes before stepping out of the vehicle alongside the woman who had been seated next to him the whole time.

Sion looked around and his eyes widened when he saw the amount of people that were there, each with their open abilities, openly using them, whether it was in a shop or a stall that sold food, almost everywhere you turned you could see someone using some kind of ability.

"Beautiful right?" The woman asked him and he glanced at her before nodding in awe, for he had never even dreamt of actually seeing things like that.

"Is it your first time in one of the capital cities?" She asked Sion.

"Yeah, it is far different from what I imagined, better even," He responded and the woman chuckled while nodding.

"Yeah, you can find all sorts of things here but magical items can be quite expensive at times, more than most," The woman said to him.

He looked around and saw a bunch of magical items and his eyes widened when he saw the zeros at the end of the price tags and the woman chuckled at his reaction to everything.

The buildings there were a mix of magic and ancient as well as fancy and some things were even being down without the need of a person's hand, all of which fascinated him a bit.

Despite all of it, he knew he needed to focus on the task at hand and what mattered the most at the time, the basic necessities for survival and a way to get a job, for he needed money.

"You seem quite lost and alone, you have no luggage despite travelling so far, you are in need of a bit of help are you not?" The woman asked as Sion was looking around.

"Listen to her, she seems to know everything around here well," The creature said to her quietly.

"I am in need of a job," Sion responded and the woman smiled at him.

"Great, follow me, we are heading to the adventurers guild, they have many options there it might help you in more ways than one," She said as she walked away and Sion followed her, for at the time, it was his only option as he was new to it all.
