Chapter 15 - Snitches can be Useful

Devin's Point of View.

"Here we are..." Jordan said nervously as we finally pulled over in front of the place where the meeting had been scheduled to happen. "As late as..."

I shut my ears to those words as I just didn't want to hear anything that would make me feel less of myself. Just a glance at the watch made me realize that I was an hour late. I let out a sigh as I was still holding the pill bottle.

"Let's head out at once..." I said as I was still seething from the rage of having found out that the girl whom Ian was with had been the stupid bar girl who had given me the drink which had turned my morning upside down.

The thoughts of getting my revenge filled my thoughts more than that of the meeting itself. It was a lot to handle but then, I shook it off at once as I stepped out of the car. The traffic jam had delayed me, but then, I wasn't going to explain that at all.

"Right this way..." Jordan said as he and the two other men walked me to the entrance of the bungalow which had been situated in a quite lonely place, far away from the busy part of town.

I walked in, looking out for anyone who would ask me about the reason why I was late to the meeting which I had called for. There was no telling just how much they would all hate me at that point as I had been bossing them around.

In a way, I loved it.

"Who was the bastard that broke my seat?" I asked Jordan for a quick recap so I could know who exactly I was about to rain hell on. I could feel the urgency to make my presence known and felt.

"I think it was the..." Jordan was silent as he was trying to remember who it could have been.

"Oh, men... don't tell me that you have such a bad memory..." I said in disappointment as we got to the door that led to the main meeting room which was right before us.

"But you―"

"Hush..." I ordered as we were standing in front of the door. Immediately, motioned to everybody to stop at once. I was sure Jordan had been about to refer to me having forgotten it myself.

But then, I was listening to the voices I was hearing behind the door. In those few moments, I could hear all the hateful words that the men had for me. They were really vocal about it as they had been thinking I was far away and not within range.

"What a stupid turd he is..."

"He thinks he can just boss us around as he likes..."

"Who the heck does he think he is...?"

"He's just lucky... that's it..."

"I don't think I can put up with this immature bastard anymore..."

The comments kept flying around like they had been holding it in for their whole lives and finally had the chance to let it all out to themselves. It was quite amusing that they still hadn't sensed my presence.

I waited until the point where their comments got even more intense before I would make my entrance. They all went mute right when the door opened up. I could sense the fierce anger and hate as it hung in the air like evidence of just how angry they were with me.

They were shying away from making eye contact with me like they hadn't been the ones yelling their guts out about how much they hated me and the iron fist which I was ruling them with.

It was really hard for me to keep myself from laughing at that as I was really amused by the fear on their faces. I walked to the head of the long table where my seat was supposed to be. In place of it was a seat that looked like that of everyone else.

I took a good look at it as I just didn't want to laugh just yet. "So... I heard that I was a... uhm... what's the word again... stupid... turd... yeah. A stupid turd... I guess this is the kind of seat reserved for a stupid turd like myself."

They were all quiet as that statement was more than enough to let them know that I had been listening to them all that time. It was really hard for them to look up at that point, and it was such a joy to watch.

"I was almost thinking I had walked into the wrong place when I had been at the door listening to all that you had to say about me..." my pride wasn't going to let me sit in that seat, as I was really angry at those men who were looking like they had been loyal servants who were being mistreated by an evil tyrant who was doing them dirty.

They were all silent as Jordan and my men were watching the show as it unfolded right before them. The room was utterly quiet as they were all thinking over what could happen next.

"Who did that to my chair?" I asked as I was looking at the chair's pieces it had been pushed to a corner. There were just too many things that made me feel like I was about to lose it eventually.

"Marcus..." one of the men breathed out in fright as he was trying to keep still. It was even funnier as most of the colony leaders were all elderly while I was the youngest at the table who managed to wield all the power.

"Where the heck is he?" I asked I just couldn't hold in my anger any longer. There was no response to that and that made me even angrier and I was sure it would lead up to me creating a scene for all to see.

It was still quiet in the room. In the heat of my anger, I dropped my fist on the table with a deafening thud that made everyone fidget.

"He's at..." the same person snitched him away, "Vix place..."
