Chapter 12 - Ankle Drama

Henry Esprit

What's taking her so long? Did she get lost? Did someone kidnap her? Such thoughts kept plaguing my mind while I sat on the bench waiting for Andrea. It had been nearly 30 minutes since she had left and she wasn't answering her phone. I decided to wait for another 5 minutes and if I didn't get a response I would go to the security department within the park and ask them to search for her.

4 Minutes.

3 Minutes.

2 Minutes.

1 Minute.

"Henry!" I heard a yell from off to my right. There she was, but who's that with her. Two people, one guy and one girl. Andrea appeared to be limping and the girl was helping her walk. Without hesitation I ran over to her.

"What's wrong, are you okay?" I grabbed her shoulders and asked. "I'm fine" She said, but she didn't seem fine, she looked pale and it seemed like it hurt to walk. "I just twisted my ankle and had to go to the medical station. Sorry for not saying anything."

It seemed like she wanted to continue to speak but she lost her balance and tumbled a little bit. I caught her, picked her up, and carried her back to the bench so she could sit down while I started examining her ankle.

It was properly wrapped and I didn't smell any blood, which was good. I stood up and gave a sigh of relief, she must've been pale from the pain, but she would be fine.

"Well if you have her, we're gonna go now." The girl from before spoke from behind me, I had completely forgotten about them. "Oh sorry, and thank you for helping her out." "It's not a problem, bye." With that she turned and started walking away. I expected the guy who was with her to do the same but he didn't, he just glared at me, seemingly angry.

He glanced at Andrea with pitiful looking eyes. Did this guy like her, and he's showing it off in front of me? Angrily, I stepped in front of him to block his view.

How dare he, you're lucky we're in public or I would bury you where you stand, I already have to worry about Andrea, I don't need you coveting my girlfriend in front of me.

He gave me a smirk and a humph before turning around and walking away. Maybe I should just get rid of this guy, I could always ask dad to use a memory wiping spell if needed. Whilst thinking of a method to deal with him quietly I heard Andrea grunt in pain from behind me. I quickly forgot all about them and turned back around to see what was wrong.

"Sorry Henry, I don't think I can continue with our date." She spoke, wincing through the pain. Did she actually break it or something? Should I take her to the ER? "Don't worry about it, for now let's go back to the car." I turned around and got down on one way, my back facing her. "Climb on."

She seemed a little hesitant at first but eventually climbed onto my back, where I carried her piggyback all the way back to the car. I could hear the giggles and laughs of the people around us as I carried her, I could feel the heat from her face and she buried it into my back, trying to hide her embarrassment. I couldn't help but let out a slight laugh at that. "Stop laughing!" She pouted.

Andrea Leno

God, this is embarrassing. I had run out of demonic energy to suppress the full pain from the wound and could only barely coat it to stop the bleeding. I found a little solace in how concerned Henry had been when he saw me limping, I guess I just looked that bad.

I was also a little taken aback when I saw him angrily step between me and Carson Benner. It made my heart skip a beat, which wasn't good considering I was severely lacking in blood right now.

The Benner family. A household that was on par with my Leno household when it came to status within the demon slayer world. Famous for producing many powerful demon slayers throughout their history. I thought back to my interaction with them.

"So what is a demon slayer from Vita doing here?" Ava asked while shaking my hand. "I came here on a date with my boyfriend and felt the demonic energy from the demons." I responded plainly. "That makes sen-" "BOYFRIEND! YOU HAVE A- I mean, you have a boyfriend?" Carson yelled, interrupting his sister. "What kind of lucky- I mean guy is he?"

This guy, did he fall for me or something? Too bad, I'm taken. "More importantly" Ava interrupted him this time. "If you came with your boyfriend, why are you here by yourself?

"She asked. "He's not a part of this world, he's an ordinary person." I responded plainly. "Hmm, I see." Ava seemed satisfied with that answer but Carson definitely was not." Why would someone like you go out with a normal person, shouldn't it be someone with strong demonic energy?" He said, trying to pump up his muscles, what a loser.

"It's not your place to decide who I go out with, and my family has no policy on anything like that." I responded coldly, this guy was truly starting to get on my nerves.

"But-" "Enough Carson." Ava interrupted him again, shutting him up. Finally, "Does he know anything about demon slayers?" "No, he's completely in the dark." With every question Ava asked and every response I gave I could visibly see Carson growing more and more disgusted, I wanted to kill him.

"Well, it's not my business, but I supposed you should be getting back to him now, especially if he has no idea what's going on." We began to leave the warehouse when I suddenly felt the sharp pain in my ankle.

My demonic energy had basically run dry. I stumbled and Ava caught me and helped me walk/limp all the way across the park back to where I left Henry.

When we finally got closer I could see him, worry on his face, constantly checking his phone. I called out to him and saw him look up, at first he was relieved, then extremely worried as he started running over to me.

The pain was growing more by then so most of what happened next but before I knew it I was on his back as he carried me back to his car. When we finally made it to the car I fell asleep nearly immediately after he sat me in the passenger seat.
