Henry Esprit
I opened the front door of my house and was greeted by my mom. "So, how did it go?" She asked. My mother, Freya Esprit was the one who had picked out my clothes. She was generally beautiful, she looked like an older version of Mana except for her emerald green eyes. She was nothing like Mana though.
Looking at her she would seem like a nice and calm lady, but she was anything but. She would lead the front lines and was a combat class specializing in hand to hand combat. She was the head of the clan's punishment committee. How she and my father got together still eludes me to this day.
"I think it went well." I told mom about all the events from the night. "You should invite her over next time. I would love to meet the girl who had you panicking so badly." "Then I'll invite her over when I get the chance." I told mom goodnight and went upstairs to go to bed, I was exhausted. Between Mrs. Leno and her plotting and Mr. Leno and his vigilant watching I was mentally and physically drained.
****The Next Day***
I woke up with my alarm and started getting ready. Before long I was in my car and on my way to school. The school was pretty ordinary, nothing special at all, at least it was up until the dismissal bell rang.
Everything was going normal, I was walking Andrea to her car like normal, we said our goodbyes like normal, and just as I was about to get in my car I felt it. A massive wave of corrupted spiritual energy coming from the school building.
It was a level I had never felt before. Stronger than even the ancient spirit Umbra. It was far beyond a level I would be able to handle by myself, far beyond. Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, the caller ID said mom. I quickly answered the phone and heard her voice yelling on the other side.
"HENRY, A SPIRIT KING LEVEL EVIL SPIRIT JUST EMERGED AT YOUR SCHOOL!" No way, a spirit king, really? What was I supposed to do? "WE'RE GONNA SEND AN EMERGENCY TEAM STAY PUT!" Obviously mom, did you think I could take on a spirit king by myself? "Okay."
Right as I finished speaking the surging energy suddenly disappeared and everything felt normal again. "Henry what happened? Its spiritual energy suddenly disappeared." Mom suddenly asked from the other side of the line. "I have no clue, it just suddenly disappeared." She fell silent for a few seconds before speaking. "Come home for now, we can discuss it when you get here."
I did as she said and went home. I parked my car and went to the clan head's house, where I was interrogated on the entire situation, even though I didn't know anything. Hours later they let me go and by then it was already dark out.
I collapsed on my bed and fell asleep in my day clothes. I woke up the next morning and went back to school, this day went by completely normally with no signs of the evil spirit king. After school I had to search for the spirit king with a team of about 5-6 people, we were unable to find anything.
My schedule continued like this for the entire week. By the time Saturday had arrived I was exhausted. I had planned to sleep in but was woken up early by a phone call. The caller ID was Aunt Dianna. Great, must be more searching. So much for my open saturday.
Just as I had expected, the call was about searching. I was to form a team with elder Dianna and a couple others and explore the abandoned hospital from our last mission. Recently we had begun searching places where other evil spirits had emerged. Before I knew it, I was back outside the old building.
Vocare. Aurum gave his usual show of light before coming out and landing on my head. "This place again?" He snorted. "Did we miss something? I don't sense anything." Welp, nothing here, time to go back to sleep. Sadly that wouldn't be the case. "We're searching for traces of an evil spirit king." He perked up at the sound of spirit king. "What are you waiting for, let's go." He exclaimed excitedly. Battle freak.
Just like last time we entered the abandoned hospital with me and Aurum taking the lead. We searched through the entire building and found nothing. We eventually found ourselves back in the lobby where we fought the other evil spirits.
"If its anywhere in here, it would be here." Elder Diana said. "Remember at its level it can reduce its spiritual presence and hide amongst the scattered evil energy from the exorcized spirits.
Our group split up and began searching the room and the surrounding rooms. Just as I was about to open the door to one of the hospital rooms, Aurum suddenly began twitching. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Henry, I have a bad feeling about this."
I paused, higher level spirits like Aurum were very in tune with nature, they are very inclined to changes in the natural air and atmosphere. A spirit "having a bad feeling" was never good, it was almost always prelude to something bad.
I hesitated to open the door, maybe we should just leave and go home. After waiting for a few more moments I opened the door. Behind the door was a floating purple mist cloud. Upon seeing the spirit I immediately slammed the door. That was it. I could tell from the spiritual energy that it was the spirit knig, anyone other than me might've been fooled by it hiding its energy, but I felt it firsthand at school.
Without hesitation I took off running and the door went flying behind me and the purple mist cloud screeched and chased after me. I pulled a talisman off my belt. Auxilium! Velox! The light went off and the spiritual energy from the spell spread out alerting everyone nearby.
