Henry Esprit
Andrea hung up the call and I immediately went into full panic mode. Her parents wanted to thank me? What should I do? What should I say? Should I bring a gift? Gah, I don't know. Should I ask mom, maybe dad? Someone please tell me what to do.
"Henry! If you're done with your phone call, get back in here!!" Elder Dianna yelled from inside the clan hall. We were in an emergency mission briefing when Andrea called me, I stepped out to take her call.
Some evil spirits had been discovered and I had been selected to go on the emergency mission. Right, I need to focus on this now, and focus on other stuff later. "Sorry, I got distracted." I went back inside and joined the others to continue the briefing.
Elder Dianna glanced at me and then back to the projection from the table, which was showing a 3d model of what appeared to be a broken down hospital building. "Multiple evil spirit signatures were detected from an abandoned hospital on the edge of town. We've been tasked with exorcizing them."
Everyone in the room nodded. "The strongest ones appear to be around the great spirit stage but the majority are only formed spirits. They shouldn't pose too much trouble as long as everyone stays focused and on guard."
There were roughly 10 of us in this emergency task force but our average level was more than enough. "Everyone go prepare your equipment and meet back here in 20 minutes."
With Elder Dianna's words, everyone scurried off to do their preparations. I did the same, and my preparations were pretty much the same as last time. Within 20 minutes everyone had come back to the clan hall.
Elder Diana had already prepared the teleportation formation and everyone stepped into it. Lanuae. We were all immediately moved right outside of the hospital. Spooky, if this had taken place during the night it would've been like a scene straight out of a horror movie.
Without wasting any time I pulled out a talisman. Vocare. I was NOT going to listen to Aurum complain about not summoning him for the fights this time. The talisman did its normal shine and spiral and Aurum popped his annoying head out. "Where's the fight?" Of course that's the first thing he says.
"There." I pointed towards the building as Aurum landed on my head. "I see. I feel the presence of many Evil spirits. Let's go Henry, battle awaits." This battle freak was gonna lead us to an early grave.
"Henry, you lead the way." Elder Dianna suddenly said. "What? Why?" I asked, completely surprised. "Your spirit is a living flashlight, It lights everything up." I couldn't retort. Being a light spirit Aurum could turn even the deepest depths of hell into a pale canvas with his golden glow. "Yes Henry, let's lead the way." Of course he was on board.
With no room to argue I led the way into the building. I spread out my spiritual energy to encompass the entire hospital. Found them. I took off running, as did everyone else, following me. Aurum jumped off my head and flew above me, slowly increasing his glow, illuminating the dark interior of the hospital.
Within minutes we had arrived at the area where I had sensed the spirits. A large lobby area on the 4th floor. There were roughly 40 spirits, 2 of which were great spirits with the majority being formed spirits. The information given by Elder Dianna was correct. This shouldn't take too long.
The team immediately got to work, with Elder Dianna taking on the stronger great spirit and giving everyone else their own tasks. The other members were to deal with the weaker spirits, and of course I got tasked with dealing with the other great spirits. Who would've thought.
Without wasting any more time I pulled out a couple talismans and chanted my spells. Vi. Velox. I circulated my spiritual energy throughout my body to further reinforce it and charge at the spirit, drawing my katana along the way.
This spirit had the form of a small child in hospital clothes with black holes for eyes. I felt sorry for it, but I knew it wasn't truly a child. If anything, it had eaten the child.
I infused my sword with spiritual energy and swung it diagonally at the evil spirit. Contact. The spirit writhed in pain and swung one of its tiny arms at me. Too slow. Aurum swooped in and caught its attack with his beak, ripping its arm off. The spirit wailed even louder this time, but we didn't relent.
Our attacks whittled the spirit down to just a floating head, barely maintaining its shape. This spirit must've just ascended to great spirit, the entire fight its energy had been unstable and it wasn't even able to use it properly. I gave it one slash with my sword, fully exorcizing it.
I looked around the room to check on everyone else. Elder Dianna was finishing up her fight with the other great spirit, she was toying with it with ease, exorcizing it shortly after. Everyone else seemed to be holding their own just fine and with the addition of me and Elder Dianna we quickly finished sweeping up the weaker evil spirits.
"With that" Elder Dianna punched the last formless spirit, exorcizing it. "It's mission complete, let's head home." She set up another teleportation formation. Lanuae. Within moments were reappeared in the clan hall, right where we had left from.
I looked down at my phone and it had only been a couple hours since my call with Andrea. I still had time. As the other members of the team were hugging each other and giving high fives I turned around to leave. "Good luck!" Elder Dianna yelled from behind me.
Of course she had been listening. "Good luck with what?" Aurum asked from atop my head. "Nothing. Don't worry about it." Dimitte.(Dismiss) I waved my fingers and Aurum disappeared in a flash of light. I left in a hurry and ran home. I had things to do and prepare for.
