Andrea Leno
I woke up extra early this morning. It was still dark outside when I looked out the window. I thought about trying to go back to sleep but decided against it and went ahead and started to get ready. I took another shower and changed clothes. A sky blue t-shirt, white shorts, and a pair of white shoes. Basic yes, but still good looking.
Satisfied with how I looked I went downstairs to make breakfast, as I was the only person awake in the house I tried to be quiet. I made scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. While I was eating I got a text from Henry asking if I was ready for him to pick me up. Immediately, I responded yes.
Around 20 minutes later Henry arrived. This time I didn't wait for him to come up to the door and left the moment I saw his car pull up. I hopped into the passenger seat and he began driving. Right away I noticed that he seemed worse for wear, almost as if he had been sick. "Are you feeling alright?" I asked, concerned. He slightly twitched at the question but quickly answered " I'm alright. Just a bit pushed at work yesterday."
His work always seemed to take a bit of a toll on him but I had no clue how to help. Disheartened, I tried to change the topic. "Are you excited for today?" "Of course, I've been looking forward to it." We were going to an amusement park today which was a few hours away. "So have I, it was so hard to get through yesterday afternoon, every second felt like an hour." He gave a small laugh and that's how most of the road trip there went.
After a few hours of driving we finally made it to our destination, the amusement park. We parked the car and got out. We walked to the entrance where Henry pulled his phone out to pull up the tickets. He showed him to the admittance people who gave us our wristbands and we entered the park.
"Sooo, what first?" He asked, taking my hand. I pondered for a minute "Hm, lets just walk around for now and do whatever looks fun." "Sure." We walked around the park for a while stopping to do the occasional ride or booth.
We were having a great time and a lot of fun, I felt it. Demonic energy, impure demonic energy, multiple sources of it. Demons were here, strong demons too. Why? Just why? Why do demons have to intrude on my date, my date I drove all the way out here for?
Part of me wants to ignore them, the other part knows I should take care of them before they harm someone. "Mind if we sit down for a bit?" I turned to Henry and asked. "Sure." We found a bench and sat down.
I closed my eyes and spread out my demonic energy, found them. One average demon, followed by a bunch of lower demons. It might be a little difficult but it wasn't something I wouldn't be something I couldn't handle. I turned to Henry again, who had his eyes closed and was relaxing. "I have to use the bathroom, I'll be right back." I felt bad for deceiving him but I had no other choice.
"Okay, I'll be here." I got up and started walking away, I turned a corner where he could see me and picked up my pace. I grabbed a plastic knife from one of the food stalls, better than nothing, and continued on my way.
I followed their trace to a warehouse area away from the main path. Typical demons, always staying in darkness. I found an unlocked door, reinforced my vision with demonic energy, and made my way inside. The demons were crawling all over the place, little red imps with tiny horns, sharp teeth, and claws.
Without wasting any time I reinforced my body with my demonic and began getting rid of them, turning them all into powder. The lower demons were going down with ease and I made my way to the average demon, who was a size bigger and had large horns and claws.
Even without my sword I should've been able to easily handle him. Should've been the key word. It caught the plastic knife, which had been coated in my demonic energy, throwing me completely off guard and balance.
Suddenly its energy soared, far past that of an average demon and into that of a high demon, it grew exponentially in size, becoming almost human sized. Some of the demons around it were doing the same, except they turned into average level demons. This just became a whole lot more difficult. If it was just the high demon on its own I could deal with it with just the knife, but I wouldn't be able to deal with all of these demons without my sword.
I pushed my demonic energy to its maximum ready to fight the demons, dozens of lesser demons, six average demons, and one high demon. The first average demon on the left pounced and cut it in half with the knife turning it into powder.
Two more jumped out only to meet the same fate as the first. I charged the remaining three, looking to finish them off first, only to be intercepted by the high demon, who came slashing with his claws.
I deflected it with the small blade of the knife but it could see it beginning to crack, I forced my demonic around it to keep it in shape, it was my only weapon after all. The demon kept up the attack and was joined by the other average demons and a few lesser demons.
I continued to dodge and deflect their attacks looking for openings. Swift demonic energy reinforced kicks and punches dealt with the lessers. I flipped back away from the demons and swung my knife down, bisecting another average demon.
I kept the momentum, managing to throw the knife into the forehead of yet another average demon, turning it to dust on the spot. I jumped at the knife, grabbed it, and spun sideways in the air to cut the last average demon in half.
Now only the high demon and a few lesser demons left. Without wasting any more time I jumped at the high demon again, but it suddenly pushed its demonic energy out, sending my sliding backwards. It began to rapidly absorb the energy from the deceased demons in the air, growing its own energy greatly, near the peak of what a high demon could achieve.
It jumped at me and swung its claws. I moved to intercept it with the plastic knife, which shattered on impact. It swung again but I ducked downward and responded with an uppercut straight to its jaw, sending it flying ]. I didn't let up pouncing after it and giving it blow after blow. It screeched and exploded its energy again.
Nearly breaking through to the great demon level but failing. Enraged, it attacked me again, this time with an even greater speed and power. I barely managed to dodge its attack but it immediately responded with more. I was stretched to my limits to dodge its attacks, making maximum efficiency of my quickly dwindling demonic energy.
I tried to search around to find something to use as a weapon to no avail. This was an empty warehouse. While focused on dodging and evading the high demons attacks I felt a sudden pain in my right ankle, causing me to stumble and fall. I looked down at my leg ankle and saw blood spewing from a wound, a lower demon sitting there cackling.
I kicked it with my other foot, turning it to dust. The high demon had stopped its attacks, seeing my weakened state, and started cackling in amusement. I tried to stand up and stumbled again, the pain was too great to stand on and I was losing blood fast.
After thoroughly enjoying its assured victory, the high demon pounced for one last attack. I'm sorry Henry, today was supposed to be a fun date, but instead it'll become my death anniversary, I should've just stayed with you. Nearly resigned to my fate, I closed my eyes and waited for my inevitable end. Which never came.
I looked up, the demon had stopped in midair. No, that wasn't right. It had a sword sticking through its skull and began to turn to dust. I followed the length of the sword and holding it was a brown haired boy around my age. Brown eyes and a smile on his face. "Well you look horrible." He blurted out partially laughing.
Suddenly he was hit in the back of the head, making an oof sound as it happened. "Brother, that's not a very nice thing to say to a girl." The girl who had hit him, who looked like a carbon copy of him, only that she was female, said with her hand still balled up in a fist.
The boy rubbed the back of his head "Sorry, sorry, I was just trying to lighten the mood." "Yeah Yeah." The girl rolled her eyes and started tending my wound, cleaning and sealing it with incredible efficiency. "I haven't seen you before, are you a demon slayer from a different town?" She suddenly asked, still patching up my ankle. "Yes, I am Andrea Leno, from Vita." The boy looked a little taken aback. "Vita? Leno? You mean that legendary family."
After my wound was sufficiently patched I poured all my demonic energy in it to speed up its healing and stood up. "I don't know about legends but that's us." "Wait hold on, I thought the daughter of that family was supposed to be really pr- HOLY CR-" He suddenly looked at my face and got super surprised, then was hit by his sister again. She reached out her hand to shake mine. "Sorry about my brother Carson, he's a moron. I'm Ava, we're from the Benner family."
