Raquel's eyes flickered open to the blinding rays of the morning sun, with exhaustion she pulled herself up from the ground and adjusted her gaze to the environment around.
Sigh.. she was still at the same spot where she fainted, did she actually think she'd magically disappear or something after passing out yesterday night? She doesn't even have hope of probably getting rescued by some stranger as the place was very deserted.
She yawned as her stomach was already yelling for help.. a help she can't render in her current situation. She decided to keep moving at least, so she got up and dragged her feet further into what seemed like an endless path.
An hour.. two hours... three hours and the end didn't seem close at all. Her uncle actually went this far to sell her off? so even if she escapes she won't be able to find her way back.
Raquel suddenly gave out a cold smile, they wanted to eradicate her right? then she'd make sure to give them a very grand arrival, so she must survive, she must not allow herself to die in this unknown place.
With this new found motivation, she suddenly persevered and quickened her foot steps when she sighted a car at a distance, moving speedily. This was her only hope! It's now or never and she would take the leap! There is only one way to get whoever in that car to stop.
Taking a deep breath she moved her feet and halted at the middle of the road, affronting death! but she stood unwavering as the car drew nearer with same speed. Raquel felt her heart in her stomach as she closed her eyes and re considered her last decision, but it was already too late as the car was already inches away and she awaited her impending doom.
A second passed.. two seconds.. ten... fifteen... twenty... A minute.. Raquel felt nothing and tentatively opened her eyes, was she already dead? A very unreal face came in sight as her brain registered her surrounding. Oh she wasn't dead yet! She released a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"What a bold and useless way to die fair" an amused voice rang in her ears. She looked up and couldn't help but think that God was being partial at times in his creation because who was this extremely handsome man standing in front of her now?!
His thick black hair was trimmed in a straight short undercut, not even a strand was out of place, strong jawline and a sharp nose, bright hazel eyes fringed with thick lashes and fair skin. Raquel felt that those eyes held more than it revealed, behind that brightness was something more.. mysterious.
His lips was curved in an amused smile as he gazed at her like he couldn't believe her guts.
"You know.. a picture won't last forever but it'll do for a few more years, so why don't you take it instead?" Raquel threw herself into a coughing fit to mask her embarrassment.
"Um.. I was.. um.. a bird flew over earlier!"
"You mean you were looking at the bird?" His smile widened and Raquel felt heat rise up to her face.
"What's today's date?" She randomly blurted out whatever came to her mind.
