"Nice weather fair?" He asked back and I twitched my lips "yeah what a perfect weather we've got today" came her reply.
He got serious "okay! can you leave the way now? I have to go"
Raquel widened her eyes, she can't just let him go just like that! What would become of her in this unknown place?
"Please! please please I know this request is absurd but take me along with you" she pleaded earnestly
"Why? I have no reason to do so Fair" he turned to go back into his car and Raquel went on her knees immediately and held his leg. He looked down at her stained hands holding his clothes and crunched up his face.
Raquel withdrew herself from him, she knew she was dirty right now "I'm lost, I can't stay back here.. please?" she clamped her palms together
"Why are you looking so haggard?"
"I was sold so I escaped and ended up here"
"And what if I'm also looking for who to sell? You just delivered yourself to me Fair" Raquel didn't reply again, he was right because she doesn't know who he is but here she was asking him to take her with him. Well, instead of dying here, she better go with him and see what her fate would be!
"Get in!"
Raquel thought she heard wrong "I.. I should really get in??" He was already sitted and ignited the car.
"Are you going to ask questions or actually get in? I'm in a rush Fair" he sounded slightly displeased at her delay
Raquel sprinted up immediately and moved into the car with a big smile on her face "I know you won't ignore a beautiful lady in distress!"
He scoffed "beautiful indeed Fair" he said as he eyed her up and down Raquel hid her face in her palms, who was she kidding? Even a granny would look better than her current state now.
"Who is Fair?" She suddenly asked as the car roared into life and they zoomed off
"You" came his single reply
"Me? I'm not that fair to be addressed as 'Fair' my name is-"
"I didn't ask for your name, I prefer Fair and it suits you best" Raquel swallowed back her words as his tone was dismissive.
For another half hour there was pin drop silence in the car, Raquel had a thousand questions in mind but she just relaxed into her sit and decided to enjoy the drive when her stomach rumble and she yawned uncontrollably forgetting the other person inside the car. She squeezed her face at the odour she perceived from her mouth.. she hadn't brushed her teeth for two days now.
She sighed and rubbed her stomach, she felt the air suddenly turn chill and looked at the man only to be met by a very dark face, realizing what she had done she covered her mouth and apologized "I'm sorry about that, it wasn't intentional and I couldn't control it"
He didn't speak, however his hand moved and Raquel thought he was going to hit her and closed her eyes tightly.
After a few seconds she felt no hit and opened her eyes, he had dropped some snacks on her laps and her eyes immediately glittered at the site of something to eat.
"Have something to eat, before I get swallowed in my own car" he rolled his eyes at her
"Wow you're such a gentleman and you will marry a good wife for that!"
"Flattery!"
"I'm actually serious, I thought you were going to..." She trialled off
"I would what? Hit you..?" He sounded amused "why would you think so Fair?"
Raquel had a far away look now as her voice sounded distant "I don't know... maybe because I'm already used to getting hit at the slightest mistake"
