Brooklyn approached the sink area after finishing her business in one of the washroom stalls. She washed her hands under the running water, minding her own business.
She was busy fixing her makeup with the help of the mirror in front of her.
"Brooklyn, right?"
Brooklyn turned to her left to see the lady she saw earlier. She had no intention of befriending her whatsoever. So, she just went back to fixing her smudged lipstick.
Lauren was taken aback by Brooklyn's cold and nonchalant attitude. Nonetheless, she didn't give up.
"You know, you're really lucky to have married Felix. I remember back in the day how many girls were lining up for him. All of the claiming to marry him in future."
Brooklyn, "..."
Lauren cleared her throat. "Aren't you curious about his past. Like not at all."
Brooklyn closed her eyes and opened them again. She was done fixing her makeup and was ready to go.
Lauren chuckled when Brooklyn just walked past her. "Why are you acting all haught and mighty when you're an addict."
Brooklyn abruptly stopped in her tracks. She gasped as she turned to face Lauren who had her back facing her.
Lauren also turned around to face Brooklyn with a cold smirk plastered on her face. "This is why I don't think you're a good fit for him. You...are...an...addict to the bone. You'll only bring him down."
Brooklyn exhaled shakily, not liking that someone knew of this. Just how did she find out?
"You don't remember me? Yesterday, I gave you that shot instead of Dr Hayes." Lauren relished in Brooklyn's shaken demeanor. "A piece of advice? Get off your high horse and go back to rehab. You're sick."
Lauren pat Brooklyn's shoulder before walking out of the washroom. Brooklyn anxiously bit her finger repeatedly that she ended up with a cut. One of the many things she disliked was someone telling her that she's sick.
Felix glanced at his wristwatch once more. What's taking her so long? The cake-cutting part was soon approaching and Felix knew just how much it'd mean to his mother to see Brooklyn among the crowd of guests.
Felix decided to go and wait for Brooklyn outside the females washroom. But, he was stopped in his tracks by a familiar face.
"Felix." Roman called out to his long time friend.
"Roman." Felix remained nonchalant in front of his friend he hadn't had contact with for a couple of years now.
"Aren't you happy to see me?" Roman joked to ease the awkward tension between them.
"Babe! When did you get here?" Lauren came out of nowhere and embraced Roman lovingly.
At the corner of her eye, Lauren was hoping to see Felix jealous because of their display of lovely affection. Like how he usually behaved back in college.
