Vrrr Vrrr
Brooklyn's phone kept on vibrating from the incoming call. She had ignored it a couple of times before getting fed up.
"Let me get this." Tina, the art gallery director nodded her head and made her exit from Brooklyn's office.
The line got connected. Brooklyn waited for the other person to speak.
"Did you seriously snitch to your husband?!" Brooklyn had to distance her ear from her phone because of the yelling.
"What're you on about?"
Valerie chuckled dryly. "Don't act dumb with me. Felix gave me an earful because of you! What? Did I do something wrong? We both know that you needed to be sedated that night!"
Brooklyn shakily exhaled.
"Why're making me out to be the bad guy. Huh?"
Brooklyn, "..."
"Cat got your tongue? You're really something else Brooklyn."
Brooklyn snickered. "Is that why you're whining like a little girl?"
"What?" Valerie was taken aback.
"It's appalling." Brooklyn hung up.
Brooklyn pondered on whether she calls him or not. Was mother telling the truth? Why was he acting weird? To the point that he gave mother an earful just because of that?
"Hello?" Felix's voice reverbated on the phone call.
Brooklyn remained silent.
Felix sighed from the other end of the line. "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
"Why?"
"Hmm?"
"I heard you gave my mother an earful. Why?"
"So you heard."
Brooklyn could hear shuffling from his end.
"You're my wife Brooklyn."
"What?"
"I will never let anyone hurt you. No one's an exception to that. Not even me."
Brooklyn scrowled as she removed the phone from her ear to really confirm that she was speaking with the Felix Easton and not somebody else.
What's he on about? Is he drunk or high on drugs?
Brooklyn made a disgusted face as she stared at her phone screen. She pressed the red button, ending the call abruptly.
